Is Your Church Ready?: Motivating Leaders to Live an Apologetic Life

Rate this book
A ministry resource for motivating all Christians to become thoughtful apologists of their faith Although apologetics is as crucial today as it has ever been, the classical model for defending the faith often seems irrelevant to the 21st century where people listen with their eyes and think with their emotions. Is Your Church Ready? Presents a team of highly qualified Christian thinkers—including Ravi Zacharias, John Guest, Jay Budziszewski, Judy Salisbury, Dean Halverson, and Peter Grant—who build a case for the place of apologetics in the local church, home, and school. Using personal examples and illustrations they address: • How to answer objections to Christianity • How to equip children in the home and prepare youth to remain committed to Christ after they leave for college • How to reach international students and the foreign-born Included are discussion questions and a “Church Leaders Resource Guide” to the best books, articles, organizations, and websites on the subject.

Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias was an Indian-born Canadian-American Christian evangelical minister and Christian apologist who founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). He was involved in Christian apologetics for a period spanning more than forty years, authoring more than thirty books. He also hosted the radio programs Let My People Think and Just Thinking. Zacharias belonged to the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), the Keswickian Christian denomination in which he was ordained as a minister. After his death, allegations of sexual harassment against him emerged, were investigated, and found to be true.

This was a mix of introductory articles on apologetics applied in a church setting. Some of them offer helpful content while others are general introductions to apologetics instead of in depth education on specific topics. It's an OK book and I think a church will be helped by some of its insights.

I like the idea and I would certainly rather see church leaders reading and living this book rather than the latest fluff, but still: the book feels underdeveloped. I think this would be a fantastic course if it were more thoroughly developed and had more concrete applications.

A book by Zacharias almost guarantees I'll both enjoy it and learn from it.

Great motivational book for church leaders and would make a fantastic book read and study for a church staff. Ravi Z. is an exceptional speaker and communicator not only within the church but throughout the world.
