This book was even better than the previous McAllister brother's book; Ex-military hero and a widowed heroine with an adorable daughter. From the moment these two are on the pages together, you can feel more than just chemistry. There is a strong pull and while Grant would love nothing more than to explore that attraction, Abby isn't looking for a relationship. Abby has enough on her plate with running her small business and raising her adorable daughter. In addition, Abby is fearful of falling ...more

I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the McAllister Brothers series. I had previously read the first book, the Rancher and I was happy to return again the the Triple A Ranch. This book is about Grant McAllister who has returned home to help his brother Duncan manage the family’s ranch. Duncan recently got married and his new wife and he combined their land and it became too much for just him to handle. Grant had served in the marin ...more

The Cowboy by Julia Justiss, book two in her McAllister Brothers series, was an enjoyable, sweet, heartwarming tale of ranch and small town life. When his big brother asks former Marine Grant McAllister to move back to Whiskey River to help with running the family ranch, he feels obligated to agree. Grant has spent the past two years recovering from battle injuries, so coming home just feels right. We meet Grant in the previous book, and his witty banter had me smiling.
I think the McAllister brothers are going to be a lot of trouble, even though one is now happily married (The Rancher)
He’s ready to help his brother run the ranch. He was a marine, but after leaving the service, he battled with guilt and anxiety after surviving whilst service buddies didn’t come hone!
So an idea to rebuild and refurbish their grandfathers cabin seems like a good idea.

This is the second book in The McAllister Brothers series and OH My Grant is Favorite brother so far. Grant has moved back home to Whisky River to help out on the ranch now that they are combing the ranchings since his brother married Harrison (in book 1). Grant was in the Marines and while he still works with the veterans he is a rancher at heart. Grant McAllister came back to Whiskey River to help his brother run the family ranch. He's finally able to close the books on his time as a Marine. It takes a strong man to deal with his undeserved guilt of losing fellow Marines and dealing with the pain of his injuries. The final blow was when the woman he loved abandoned him. This suffering changed him. He didn't trust. I was glad that he was back with family. Can he start a new life in his childhood home? His plan to remodel his granddaddy's ...more

Second in the McAllister Brothers series, The Cowboy is set near Whiskey River in the picturesque Texas Hill Country. This book is all about second chances for heroine Abby Rogers, whose Marine husband died on active duty while she was pregnant with their daughter Katie, who is five when the story opens. While she loved her husband passionately, Abby has harboured resentment that his career choice took him away from her. After reading The Rancher, the first book in the McAllister Brothers series by Julia Justiss, I was ready for book two--The Cowboy. This book centers around Grant McAllister, former Marine, who returns to Whiskey River. His older brother, newly married Duncan, needs his help on the Triple A ranch. Grant still works with an organization that matches veterans with jobs, but has turned much of his workload to his assistant. Grant decides to turn the family's old hunting cabin into his new home. 3.5 stars.
“The Cowboy”, by Julia Justiss (Tule Publishing), is a lovely romance featuring two wonderful, well-drawn, solid characters.
Grant and Abby get to know each other slowly, try to remain just friends but the chemistry is undeniable. They’re both easily relatable and Grant is a great hero, handsome, kind and considerate.

Sweet and clean, I found that this Western romance jerked at my heartstrings as I identified with Abby's loss and insecurities. Having lived under a harsh deluge of verbal abuse in her formative years, Abby's self-worth dropped to an all-time low when she received the news that her husband had died in combat. Fortunately, instead of turning to her own parents, she relocates to Whiskey River where she is enfolded into the arms of her late husband's family. Having vowed never to risk a meaningful ...more

Marine veteran Grant McAllister comes home to Whiskey River in The Cowboy (The McAllister Brothers #2) by Julia Justiss. This is not so much a coming home story as it is finding a new beginning in a place that is home. The three bothers begin the story, which was a wonderful beginning seeing their comradery and friendship. You get the feeling that they would be friends even if they were not related.

Part of Grant’s new beginning is renovating his grandfather’s cabin. Hired designer Abby Rogers i

This series has done something many other books in the genre do not, they don’t make the man have to try and try to win the women over, they have the women realizing they want the man and set about to make the move and prove it. I love that adorable little twist. All the characters are wonderful and relatable, they all have their past wounds and their trust issues that they grow to overcome when finding love.

Second of the McAllister brothers found a love worth working for. Grant saw Abby and fell in love with her, her daughter Katie, and her creative furnishings. Abby was so deep in her grief that she almost missed a second chance at happiness. I loved the fact that Abby was strong enough to go against her family to prove she could survive on her own. She just did not see that in herself. Grant was so attentive to her and Katie that it tugged at my heart. The time they spent together had me smiling, ...more

Really got into this story right from the first, the characters Grant and Abby were so easy to care about and of course little Katie stole my heart, and when I hit the final couple of pages and the book was just giving me all the feels Katie had the best lines, she stole the show, or in this case the book. Now I’m anxiously waiting for the next book in the series, it’s gotta be Brice’s story, and he’s not looking for love but I gotta feeling.

This was such a great addition to this series. It was such an emotional and beautiful read. The characters were wonderful and the story line was incredible. I loved Abby and Grant. What an Emotional Story. Anyone that has ever had Family Issues growing up I think can relate to this. This it home and hard. The tears were there towards the end. A relatable and beautiful story that can capture anyone’s heart. Abby and Grant are a couple both in need. They give hope, trust, selflessness, and love above all else. A Story You Want To Read , Feel, and Experience.

Oh man. Mrs Justiss is the queen of the slow burn. This book had me all in knots waiting for Grant and Abby to come together like we all know they would. Katie was an absolute doll. I loved reading about this adorable couple. The characters are realistic and you can practically feel their angst coming off the pages.

Great read, the story of Grant and Abby.
Abby is a widow and just wants to work hard and provide for her daughter. She is employed by Grant as an interior designer to work on his house.
Grant is not looking for anthing serious, but wants more when he starts spending time with Abby - will they have a chance together?

The lives of Grant and Abby intertwine as they work together to restore his old cabin. Grant’s patience is pitted against Abby’s determination when it comes to love. He is certain she is the one for him but hesitation reigns supreme with Abby.
