Can love be the melody to heal their hearts?

MIDLIFE CRISIS – When this replacement drummer survives his alcohol addiction and the on-again-off-again of a turbulent relationship, he isn’t looking for love until a woman calls the crisis hotline he volunteers on, crying over burnt toast and turning forty-one.

Angsty but inspiring story. Secrets and lots of things unsaid cause misunderstandings and some heartache, but it's a wonderful moving read full of hope and survival. Finding love second time around and moving onto a better life. Wonderful characters that admittedly i wanted to bash heads together at times. But I was gripped and enthralled throughout. Found it emotional, with some twists to keep it interesting. I read this as part of the box set but also have the single book, look forward to diving into more of the series. Started 23/1/22 Finished 24/1/22

From sausages to cupcakes, hallways, bathrooms to being intimate, this book is a learning curve for the characters. Understanding themselves as well as others, letting go of ghosts and certain harmful things from the past is easier said than done. Making new friends and reconciliation with those from before helps with the moving onwards and upwards. Finding family and a lasting deep love and connection can be over welming but makes life so much richer. Accepting a little help doesn't make you weak it adds to making you stronger and better than ever and enables you to give back tenfold. This story was a journey from beginning to end, not just over coming addiction and loss, or betrayal and divorce, it was about discovery, excitement and acceptance. I think for both characters this held meaning, both had very different but troubled pasts and to some extent abuse, but in very different ways. Both wanted to be loved above all, not at the detriment of kids but certainly over work or other people. Brut turned out to be a true big brother and I loved, despite his brashness or hard appearances, he had done so much for Hank that wasn't known until time was right. For Midge it was finding someone who was wonderful with her boys, took each as an individual with different interests and needs, accepting and understanding while guiding rather than coaching, adding to rather than demanding or taking away. Not talking down but speaking on the same level and explaining in terms that could be relevant to experiences they had felt. Such a well written story so full of pain and struggles, it has lots of sweet and happy moments mixed in with the deeper painful ones. It has the loving and it has the explosive off the charts heat. The sexual content is graphic but definitely all in context and needed in the overall point of the underlying story. It gripped, I had empathy for each character apart from one. One person I feel caused immeasurable pain, that to a big degree caused 20 years of addiction and hurt.
Moving and emotional story. Started 27/1/22 Finished 28/1/22

Another highly emotional rollercoaster, my heart broke for Mati and Denton. Chris played on both of them and their feelings, so much for being best friends. Denton and Mati were already best friends before he came into the picture but they included him in everything, but he lied and pretty much forced Denton into leaving without her. Now I understand she wouldn't have her boys without Chris, but she might have had kids with Denton instead. They both suffered because of what he did. Secrets and lies, even half truths or omissions cause so much pain and misunderstandings. Talking, proper communication even in friendship is so important. This read was angsty, heartbreaking and gripping. I loved Mati and Denton, in fact most of the characters but Chris I hated, I didn't like how he played them or twisted things even though he did it because he loved Mati as well, he knew that if Denton had told her how he felt there would have been no choice Mati was Denton's. They lost 27 years, he lost those years with his sister and grandmother, there were more lies where his mother was concerned as well. Twists, turns and I guess fate in the end helped to right a wrong. Just because you get older doesn't mean you can't feel the emotional turmoil of a teen. Intricate plot weaving kept me engrossed and fully invested in these two finally getting their HEA. Started 29/1/22 Finished 30/1/22

If you love over 40 romance stories then you do not want to miss this collection!

Aftercare
This story is so amazing I am not sure my review will do it justice.
Finally! Some book characters that are mature without being old, enjoying the best part that life has to offer without being reckless, and finally finding what true love really means.
Being over 40 myself and at times questioning my own mortality I found Edie to be a refreshing character. Not all parts of life are pretty but she shows us that we can come out on the other side better than when we go in.
Tommy is just a wow! Not only is he hot but he loves deeply. It shows in how he cares for his family and then how he simply accepts and cares for Edie knowing what she has been through. He shows her how to truly live and love life and looks past the scars to see the beautiful woman that is underneath.
Their relationship is not without its obstacles but in the end Edie finally figures out what it means to truly love.
Tommy hasn’t had a love like this in his life and it is so beautiful to see him finally understand how much joy can come when you share your heart with the person who is meant to be yours.

Midlife Crisis
I loved Midlife Crisis! This story just proved that even if you are older doesn’t mean you have your life in order. Nor does it mean that the dreams we had when we were younger will be the same dreams we even want as we get older.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hug Hank or smack some sense into him. He was lovable, but frustrating all at the same time. He has come such a long way from his past, but it takes a special lady to finally help him realize he deserves happiness too.
I loved Midge! She is a strong woman after having to start over and raise her three boys after her divorce. She has the patience of a saint putting up with Hank’s baggage and balancing that with raising her boys.
I was rooting for them both throughout this story to finally work out their differences and find their HEA!

Second Chance
Like an artist on canvas, Ms. Dunbar has painted us a beautiful picture of love with her words in Second Chance!
She has truly captured this over 40 romance audience as she brings to life these characters that you can’t help but feel connected to and shows us that it is never too late to find love.
Denton and Mati story is filled with regrets and heartbreak as well as heartwarming moments as they finally get their chance at love. It has taken twenty seven years for them to find their way back to each other, bare their souls and share all their secrets.

I have loved all of the over 40's romance by L.B. Dunbar.

After Care
Loved, Loved, Loved this book from LB Dunbar. I loved that both Tommy and Edie were older characters because everyone needs a Tommy, when the time is right in their life. Tommy is a band manager and Edie is a divorcee, mother of 2, and breast cancer survivor. She and her kids are on vacation in Hawaii when Tommy crosses her path. They have an instant connection that is super hot and super sexy. They continue their vacation relationship but both wonder what will happen once they go home since they live in different cities. During their time after the vacation, they learn what is important to each of them together and separately. And hopefully continue their time together. This was a great love story that felt very real with obstacles coming at them every which way.

Mid-Life Crisis
The title of this book fits the story and characters so perfectly. Hank meets Midge at a party for a mutual friend of theirs and they both can't stop thinking about the other. Since both of them are going through major life changes while trying to develop a relationship with the other there are ups and downs not only for them but for the reader as well since you just want to shake some sense into them. Overall, LB Dunbar has delivered another wonderful over 40 read set in the same world as After Care.

Second Chance
Second Chance delivers on all fronts. There are two characters that had loved each other in their teens but nothing ever came to be (and the book explains why), and then they are reconnected later in their 40's because of life circumstances. We get to see Mati and Denton discover their love for each other through not so easy events surrounding them in their hometown. And then add the fact that Mati has two adult aged boys that maybe are not so keen on their mom moving forward after the death of their father. Which all makes for a very interesting and emotional read.

LB knows how to write these very real life stories of characters over 40. This is not a everything is wonderful kind of story. It is real with real emotions evoked during the reading from both the characters and the reader.

Three great love stories.

1. after care
This is a great read. This is the second book I've read by this author. I love after 40 books. This is a sad story throughout, for the most part. There are secrets kept, too. It is a very emotional story for sure. To start a new chapter in your life is a bit scary. She is taught how to open up by the male character and to be more free and do just what she wants to do. The love that they share is deep, but due to the secret he keeps, it holds him back from committing. You will not be able to put this book down once you start it. I look forward to more books by this author.

2. midlife crisis
This is a fabulous story. Lifestyles and memories of the past can almost ruin you if you let them. It was so hard for the male character to let go of them, it almost destroyed the relationship he found. There was such a big secret that was kept from him, too. The female character hung on, though. She tried to let go a couple of times, but it was inevitable that they were to be together. You can't even imagine the emotional roller coaster the two of them ride. This is a great love story

3. second chance
This is a great book. I loved the plot of this story. This is a love triangle to a certain degree. There is a lot of loss of family in this story. To walk away from the one you love is a tremendous sacrifice. For one to love two people leaves a lot of confusion in one's mind. To lose one of the two people you love is heartbreaking. To be joined again with the other you love is unbelievable in one lifetime. A very well written book. Holds you attention from beginning to end.

good set of books

Three books and a follow up that’s more than an epilogue. Love the older guys and gals and the link to a boy band that no longer exists. Felt that some of the issues were overdone in the first book however they get there in the end. Second and third book are different yet again a bit of overplay with some issues. Loved all the characters and not sure if Hank or deacon were my favourite. Second chances dint get thrown away and again older couples don’t play the games of youngsters. Good reads

Loved these men and their ladies

These three men led such different lives after spending their early years together in a band. I love reading about mature characters who still have lots of life to live. And live they do! Note to L.B. Dunbar, I need to Tucker Ashe’s story PLEASE!

Love all of the silver foxes. So happy to have relatable older characters that still have lives to live and love to make. Everyone has baggage, but with patience, love and effort, the rewards are worth it. LB shows you time and again. Read everything she writes.

The bonus snippet really leaves you hanging. Like.... really?
There better be a real story at some point to fill in all the gaps left hanging at the end.
