Daisy Morrow #1

The Root of All Evil

Rate this book
An innocent rosebush, uprooted in the middle of the night, reveals a horrific secret. Determined to bring those responsible to justice, Daisy embarks on a dangerous trail that grows darker and darker with each unexpected turn.

Retirement to a sleepy East-Anglian village doesn't go quite as Daisy hoped, after a seemingly- insignificant event triggers something very significant indeed. A mystery to solve is the last thing she expects to stumble across in a sleepy village a few miles from Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

To her surprise she’s adapted to country life quite well, although she rather unkindly refers to the beautiful village of Great Wiltingham as the ‘place people go to wilt’.

According to Daisy, nothing is ever quite what it seems. In her case, that’s the truest thing ever spoken. She’s nothing like a pensioner is supposed to be. It could be something to do with the career she had before retiring… or perhaps because she wishes she’d never had to leave it behind at all.

For some strange reason, trouble seems to follow her around. It’s been a peaceful twelve months settling into village life, but that’s about to come to an abrupt end...

My new website is now live - check me out at http://rtgreen.net

My wish is to take you on a journey to somewhere you’ve never been before. And on the way, make you smile, surprise you, and bring a tear or two to your eyes (good tears!) If I can do that, I’m a happy guy.
I’m an English author who doesn’t write regular. ‘Regular’ is fine, but it’s not what you’ll find on our journey. Vibrant, fast-paced plots wrap around the pleasure and pain of equally-vibrant love stories, woven together to bring you the unexpected and fire up your emotions!
I find it difficult to categorize my work into one genre… so I think I might have invented a new one! Fantasy-realism. Fantasy because… well, our journey is as much fantasy as anything, plus shades of the paranormal and some sci-fi. Realism because just about every destination you will visit can be googled! My work is grounded in real settings, but where things are not quite as normal as you might expect! And where, if I’ve done my job right, when you reach your final destination you will sit back and say, ‘Wow… that could have happened to me!’
So you won’t find werewolves existing in strange worlds filled with half-human, half-animal creatures. Many, many other authors are writing those kinds of stories. I prefer to make your journey a unique one… yes, you will meet weird and wonderful characters, some of whom will make you laugh, other who will fill the journey with horror and pure evil. Demons, angels, and the occasional alien will join you as you turn the pages… but so will many characters you can relate to; normal people thrown into abnormal situations.
So please come and join me, embrace the unexpected, and take a ride to places you never knew existed!

#1 in the 70 something Daisy Morrow mystery series. Daisy had what appears to be a government secret agency past when an event results in she and husband Aidan retiring and go into hiding to a sleepy East-Anglian village and modifying their identities. However, Daisy’s past life leaves her craving mystery which she finds some when neighbors' rosebushes are uprooted in the middle of the night. As she and Aidan investigate, they discover something very sinister which gets darker and darker opening up their past. Daisy is both caustic and overly confident of her abilities so is both impertinent and impetuous which gets her into hot water.

Daisy and Aidan

Daisy and Aidan are a sweet retired couple. Or are they? They are living in two separate houses and pretending to be dating. But really they have been married for 35 years. Daisy has "connections" with the government and is in hiding. Which doesn't stop her from getting involved in a very dangerous caper. Can these two oldies really break up a gang. Guess you'll have to read to find out. Enjoy the snarky humor!

This book is well written, characters are well developed, and it is interesting. It has a little different twist from other cozy mysteries I have read. I would definitely recommend, and I would love to read the series!

I found this book by accident. Download and started reading. I knew I was hooked when I dozed off and woke up when my kindle hit my forehead. I just couldn't put the book down. The characters are exciting and well written. Can't wait to learn more of Daisy secrets. I highly recommend this series if you like a mystery that has you on the edge of your seat. Now to download the next book.

Daisy Morrow and her neighbor Aiden have secrets. Those secrets brought them to live in a small village, where they hoped to find peace. However, Daisy’s past life leaves her craving mystery. She finds some when she decides to investigate a friend’s concerns about her rose bush. Their investigation leads them to a new friend and danger. Will they survive long enough to savor their new friendship?
True to the genre, this story proved a quick read, laced with humor. I would have appreciated an extra line or some other indicator that the scene had changed though.

Fun Cosy Mystery

I thoroughly enjoyed this "senior citizen" mystery, though not sure what prompted the title. Also not sure why Daisy and her hubby need to live separately for the sake of anonymity when they are always together anyway. Hmmm. Still a cute English story.

Made me a. Believer in misleading book covers!

Wasn't sure what to think at the beginning. I absolutely loved it. Characters are actually interesting and fun. Not a dumb one in the bunch. I'm picky about books and am starting in on the next one. Read it!

Old Heads

I like detective stories involving senior citizens. I find them enjoyable and humerous. Makes me try to solve the mystery along with the characters of the same age.
