Magnetic Medic

A sexy, new brother's best friend romance from USA Today bestselling author Alexa Padgett.

He’s my brother’s childhood friend. I’m pregnant with another man’s baby. What a time to fall in love…

Coming home seemed like a good idea at the time. My ex-fiancé split, I was almost done with my master’s degree, and I was already working at the family architecture firm. When I move in next door to pediatrician Ryder Mackay, I’m not expecting the connection—or the passion in his eyes that I feel deep in my soul. He’s the best doctor for my baby, but he’s not the guy I need.

Still, the way Ryder looks snuggling my puppy—and my infant daughter—to his rock-hard chest makes me wish this sexy, smart, compassionate man was mine.

Maybe, it’s pregnancy hormones. Or...maybe this magnetic pull is forever.

As with every other book I have read by this author, the story pulls the reader in from the opening lines and keeps one involved through to the end. Returning home pregnant and having to face her older brother's disapproval, Aidy strikes out on her own and moves into her own apartment. Much to everyone's surprise, her new neighbour is her younger brother's best friend from school days. The spark of attraction is ignited at their initial meeting, and nothing can quench the flame, in spite of a damaged past. Aidy is fighting her reckless reputation garnered as a rebellious teenager after her parents died, and Ryder is battling to overcome the demons of abandonment. Little by little, Aidy wins her older brother's respect until he in turn reveals the truth of his own battles. Ryder has to face his biggest fear without the instruments of his profession before he can face up to his own fears. I found this beautiful and well-written novel engrossing and emotional and I was relieved when Ryder finally came to a place of acceptance in his own life. I received a copy of this excellent book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I loved Aidy and Ryder's story! Their connection was apparent from the beginning of the book. I loved watching Aidy grow into her own. She really grew into a strong independent woman. Ryder had his own demons to conquer. Together they form a great family.

This book features two wounded souls that have crossed paths before in life and Fate has seen fit to intersect their lives again. Their story is sweet, emotionally fraught, and utterly captivating. The journey toward a happily ever after is riddled with emotional roadblocks, but they do find their reward, their own happily ever after, at the end.

Ryder was her brother’s best friend when they were children and he often was around Aidy’s whole family back then. He disappeared from their lives after a family tragedy, and now he is Aidy’s new neighbour. She, an architectural student studying to get her masters in eco-friendly interior architectural design, has just returned to her hometown and her family after becoming pregnant and having her ex leave her and reject the baby. Both of her brothers have welcomed her into the family architecture firm, but she feels she has to try extra hard to prove herself, especially to her older brother. Her relationship with her older brother, who took on a parenting role after her parents died, is strained at best. He treats her more as kid who can’t get her act together and someone who needs to be controlled. Her brothers even asked Ryder, who is now a handsome paediatrician, to look after her. For his part, Ryder is more than happy to check in on beautiful, pregnant Aidy. In fact, he feels helplessly pulled toward her, even though he tries hard to deny the attraction he feels and to break the connection his soul tells him he has found with her. He has abandonment and trust issues after losing his whole family in a matter of months. Aidy’s pregnancy both thrills and terrifies him, after losing his mom and baby sister in childbirth. Aidy has trust issues too, but she can’t deny the connection or the fierce attraction she feels with Ryder. Their relationship becomes a game of advance and retreat, hurt feelings, insecurities and letting doubts separate them, then making up, becoming closer, more intimate...only to start the cycle over again. Read this sweet, emotional and perceptively written book to see how their story ends.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Sometimes we think we have things all planned out, then Life sits back, laughing, and says “Watch this!”

Aidy sure has had her share of curves thrown at her lately. The biggest being her boyfriend ghosting her when she tells him she's pregnant. But Aidy is an intelligent, modern woman, so she begins a new life back in her home town, working for the family architecture firm while she finishes her masters degree.

Then Life says “Watch this" once again and Aidy discovers her brother's childhood friend lives in the condo across the hall. He's handsome, sincere, compassionate, and a pediatrician, which will be helpful in the future. But seriously, Life? This is the absolutely worst time for both Aidy and Dr. Ryder Mackay to fall in love.

No matter the timing, I knew Aidy wouldn’t be able to resist Ryder because he won my heart in the first few pages. What's not to love about a hero whose childhood made him believe anyone he loves will eventually leave, yet he still has a heart of gold that shows in the way he cares for his patients?

Once again, this talented lady delivers a heartfelt, poignant, emotional read, and it’s no wonder I’ve come to trust her implicitly with my romance reading. Aidy and Ryder's story is authentic, relatable, compelling, and so freaking amazing, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Aidy's life had broken down. After telling her fiancee she was pregnant his was less than stellar. Though she had brothers to go home to help her get her life back on track. Her life will never been the same she had to juggle moving into her new apartment, getting her thesis completed, and start working at the family firm. Not mention getting ready to become a first time mom. Still she is plenty responsible than the wild teenager she was when her parents died. Getting pizza for her and her brothers she didn't expect to have such a handsome next door neighbor let alone for it to be someone from childhood. Ryder was an old childhood friend her brother. There was instant chemistry between the pair. Seeing her current state of pregnancy and his own relationship with another caused issues in the beginning. Their relationship was easy going but complicated. Both bringing there set of baggage that they needed to get over if they wanted something more than just friendship. Building a relationship is hard but when you have a still overbearing brother and a father who doesn't know what he wants life is bound to be thrown in flux.

I volunteered to read and review this book.

Emotionally charged yet sweet and tender romance

Aidy is back in her home town, working at the family firm, several months pregnant with an ex-fiancé who fled when hearing the news. She's still got some unresolved issues to work through with her two older brothers as well as developing feelings for the pediatrician neighbor who's also a family friend from her childhood. She's got a lot to prove, to herself and to her brothers, and to her ex as well.

Ryder is wrestling with his own demons as well. He's lost so much of his family and is still struggling to figure out how to move on. Despite the "cocky hero" label for this book, he's not at all cocky or arrogant, just a strong, wonderful man who is determined to work through his own problems so he can be the man Aidy needs him to be.

Their journey to their sublime HEA is filled with highs and lows, and I especially appreciated the warts-and-all look at Aidy's first days of motherhood. I love the emotional depth shown with all the characters, and I'm looking forward to reading more about the fascinating Wright family. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

If you love a good doctor romance story, this male pediatrician + female architect might be just what you need for a couple evenings of pleasure. Aidy completes her masters in architecture during the last couple of months of her pregnancy. She's already working in her family's architecture firm concentrating on interior design. Her work catches the eye of some major players in design and rolls in the accolades for her project.
Ryder loves babies and kids and has secretly wanted to be part of a family since he lost his as a young child. He knows for sure he wants to be around her and hers.
They each need to resolve longstanding issues of abandonment by parents and loved ones. Their careers help them reach some of their goals while daily living and bonding do much more to ensure their future together.
Very well developed characters. Very cool friends of the main characters are vying for attention in books that are sure to come.

This was a great book. Aidy experiecing Emotional hardship of being a single mother and Ryder emotional troubled believing everyong he cared about would leave him. This was a great book and I truly enjoyed this love story. This was my first book read by this author and I can't wait to read more.

Aidy has found herself newly single and pregnant, deciding to move back home and work in the

Ryder can't explain it but the moment he recognized Aidy he felt comfortable around her and found it easy to talk with her. Sure he found her attractive and still beautiful, but decided to work on being friends.
This was a great book. How two people who are strongly attracted to eachother try to advoid and fight these feeling. A beautiful, sensitive romance of two people who may have found each other at just the right time. This New Aidy is assertive, organized, ready to be an asset to the firm, finish her thesis for her master’s degree and be a great mother. Alexa Padgett is a new to me author, after reading the blurb for Magnetic Medic, I just had to read it. Aidy is single and pregnant. She returns home with her tail between her legs and takes her rightful place at her family’s architectural firm. Ryder is a complicated man. His childhood was not easy and because of it, he has become a pediatrician . Ryder and Aidy are neighbors and he is her brother’s long lost childhood best friend. The sparks fly when they start spending time together. Neither is looking for a relationship but both are fighting their growing feelings for the other. Not gonna lie, there were moments where I wanted to reach into my kindle and slap both of them upside the head, hard. Their road to happily ever after was long and painful (even though it technically was only a handful of months). This book will take you a roller coaster ride from start to finish, several times and you will find yourself loving and hating it in equal measure. TBR Magnetic Medic and Enjoy.

I'll start by saying there is never a spoiler in my reviews, so, if hot doctors are your weakness, this is THE book for you. Ryder is the new hunk you've been waiting for! Aidy, a newly single (her jerk former boyfriend dumped her) and pregnant, returns home to join the family business and it turns out her neighbor is a guy from her past. Want more? you NEED to read this book...the chemistry is evident from their first interaction while moving into her new apartment, as childhood friends reunite as adults, in this sweet, funny, steamy love story. The events are written in a believable manner, making this a book that once you sit down to read, you just can't stop. If you haven't read this author before, start here, then go back and get more of her books! I received a complimentary copy and am happy to leave my honest, unsolicited review.

Amazing and fantastic story!

Aidy moves to Houston where she will be working in her family company. She lives in an apartment building where Ryder also lives. When they meet, they both realise they knew each other before, when they were younger they lived in the town.
Aidy and Ryder start a beautiful and amazing friendship. Ryder is always there for Aidy and helps her with everything.

I loved the book so much. It was so cute and had so many sweet moments. Their relationship was so good, I loved the way the author planned everything and the plot was so very well developed.

Omg what a terrific story. I love Ryder and Aidy, what a perfect couple. Both had very hard childhoods that scarred them so much that they had a hard time letting others in. So it took losing all to really find out what love was all about, that is was everything. There were so many ups and downs and so many different emotions, from laughing to crying and then happiness. There are some amazing characters in this book and I can't wait to read more about them. I most definitely recommend this book.

Magnetic Medic by Alexa Padgett a five-star read that will give you palpitations. This is the first story in the Wright family series, and my first by this author, but do you know what I really hope its not my last as I so enjoyed the story and the writing, the characters are all so nice and a little crazy, but that just makes you love the so much more. Aidy will sweep you up in her story and will make you fall in love with her as you read. This is not a story to be missed.

I really enjoyed this book. It stars pregnant mom, Addy and her new neighbor and childhood family friend Ryder.

Addy is pregnant with her ex, Jeff's baby. When she told him she was pregnant she found out he was a cheater and he also dumped her and the baby in a terrible letter. So she came home, went to work at the family architecture firm and is getting her master degree. She moves into her own place and is getting ready for her baby when she meets her new neighbor, Ryder.

Ryder is a Pedetrician and while he loves kids, has no plans to have children, in fact he is dating a woman in the city who has no plans to have children. He is good friends with Simon and Bridget (the connection to the Vi Keeland Cocky Books). He knew Addy when he was besties with her brothers until he was 9. He lost his parents, ended up in foster care until his aunt came to take custody of him. Now many years later, he meets Addy and her brothers again and they ask him to watch out for her.

There is a big attraction but there is also a small love triangle for a lot of the book. Its not very intense as we only see the woman Ryder is dating a few times in the book. But he becomes Addy's friend and she really can use one. Though she makes friends very easy. I really loved Addy a lot. She is one tough cookie and she loves unconditionally. She also works hard but also makes time for her friends and family. She also cannot wait to meet her daughter.

Ryder I am not sure how I felt about. Part of the book he is dating Margo and while he doesn't cheat per se, his thoughts and feelings do. And many times he seemed to almost be ready to dump Margo he keeps going until Margo gets fed up with his behavior and she ends up insulting Bridget and only then does he cut her loose.

My second issue with him was when the ex comes back, Jeff, he seems to dissapear on Addy. This guy cheated on her, didn't want the child and he kinda hands her over to him. I wanted him to fight for her and he is just very passive about it all. I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I did enjoy this book and largely it was because Addy is so awesome and I adored her two brothers. I would love to read more about the brothers.

When Aidy tells her boyfriend that she is pregnant with his child he walks out on her. After he leaves Aidy decides to go back home and take a job in the family architecture firm.

Aidy’s brother’s help her move into her new apartment. While the guys are bringing up the boxes Aidy is unloading them as fast as they can bring them up. During all this moving one of Aidy’s new neighbor’s sticks his head in the door. Low and behold it is her brother’s best friend Ryder from their childhood.

Ryder is a pediatrician and right away Aidy thinks he would be a great doctor for her baby. She would love to have him for herself but thinks right away that he is not for her even with his rock-hard abs. Aidy’s description of Ryder makes him sound as if he is one hot dude. The question now is he a McDreamy or McSteamy or maybe McSexy? One thing for sure though is that he makes me think of Vin Diesel or even The Rock Dwayne Johnson. Oh yeah!

Magnetic Medic is a very steamy read with all that hotness surrounding Aidy.

Yeah I know that a couple of the hot dudes are her brothers but they are not mine. Magnetic Medic is the first book in The Wright Family Series. I can’t wait to check out the next book in the series Arrogant Architect with Aidy’s brother Knox Wright’s story to see who the summary is referring to. Who is this mysterious person who wants Knox?

Magnetic Medic had a few twists that kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering if Aidy and Ryder were ever going to get together. There were times I wanted to give both of them a great big shake. Oh, and when someone from Aidy’s past shows up I am like oh no not now. Aidy had me worried there for a while I was so afraid that she was going to make the wrong decision. Will Aidy make the right choice for her?

Magnetic Medic is a great story one which I recommend dearly to all those romantics out there. One-click your copy of Magnetic Medic today to begin this epic new series with all these dreamy guys.

This story will simply melt your heart!

Aidy is struggling to prove to everyone & herself else that she's past her wild streak - a task that is herculean, given that she feels like a failure having had to return home and work for the family firm after her fiancé runs out on her. Then, her attraction to the emotionally-unavailable paediatrician next door seems to make a mockery of the new Aidy; the one that is determined to make responsible, mature decisions for her future and that of her daughter's.

Ryder feels the draw to Aidy and her unborn child, but his past keeps cutting into his self esteem. Inside, he's afraid that the new happiness he's found with Aidy would disappear, leaving him with crater-sized holes in his heart that could never ever be filled again.

I really loved this read. There were many touching, sweet moments in it, as well as a few steamy & humorous ones that had me really enjoying it. I look forward to reading the rest of the Wright's stories.

I recommend this read wholeheartedly.

Magnetic Medic tells the story of Aidy and Ryder. Aidy has recently split up with her fiance and has returned home to her brothers, pregnant. Ryder is an old friend of the family and while he hasn't seen Aidy since they were both children, he feels an instant connection with her. After losing his mother and younger sister in childbirth, Ryder has always shunned the idea of having children and avoids pregnancy and birth, despite being a doctor. He can't stay away from Aidy though and he finds himself questioning what he really wants.
I enjoyed this romance. I did think that things moved a little quickly or rather seemed to come from nowhere, one minute they're lusting after one another from afar and the next they have become quite serious. It worked fairly well.
As often happens in books and films, the birth is quite dramatic. Fortunately, Dr Ryder is on hand, along with a midwife who just happens to be there (although she doesn't really assist in the birth, I have no idea why).
I enjoyed this read and I'd certainly be keen to read more from this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Ahhh!!! "Magnetic Medic" was SO. GOOD!! It caught my attention from the very beginning and kept it until the end, which I really enjoyed. I honestly didn't want to put this down, but sadly I had to, haha. Ryder and Aidy's story was angsty and emotional. First I would like to say job well done in this amazing addition to the Cocky Heroes series. This is my first book by Alexa Padgett and I hope it's not my last. Both Aidy and Ryder have experienced loss of the worst kind and somehow they are stronger because of it. I can't wait to see what's next from this amazing author.

I am not really sure what to rate this book, so I am hoping by writing out all my emotions, that it'll miraculously figure out a star number. When this book was first advertised, I read the blurb and instantly thought it would be something that I would like. It was, but I don't think the reality was better than the expectation.

This is a part of the Cocky Hero's Club. I have never read a book in this series, but I figured that the hero's would be arrogant, pushy, and all around just cocky. That's not the case with this book, and I am not sure if that's what's off putting. Ryder hasn't had it easy in life. However, instead of dealing with those emotions, he buries them until it almost destroys any chance of a relationship with Aidy. If I was Aidy, I am not sure I would have been able to deal with the emotional ineptitude on top of my own personal drama.

Aidy is the only adult in her family, which is hilarious because her brother's constantly tell her she makes bad decisions and needs to grow up. Unfortunately, as old hurts start to be resolved, new ones will take their place leaving Aidy to wade through the turmoil on her own. She's stronger than she appears, but it would have been nice if those around her would have done more to make her realize that the choices of her youth were not what defines adulthood.

I think this might have helped me come up with a star rating. In the beginning, I wanted to rate this a 3. The writing was a little slower pace than I like, and I felt that the author was very wordy in her sentence structure. I am not of fan of having to read carefully to make sure that you don't miss something. Reading should just be for enjoyment at whatever pace your eyes can follow along. Then I thought a 3.5 might be better. I liked the book, but I didn't love it. I just couldn't see half way through how the two main characters were ever going to make it through. They didn't belong together if all they did was hurt each other and run. Now that I have finished, I am leaning still toward 3.5, but I think I am going to raise it to a 4. If I can analyze this book like I have done with my review, then the author has done their job in my opinion. It's not a roller coaster that I would read often, but it's made me stop and think about two people that I really didn't care about in the beginning. Also, I am kind of curious what will happen further down the line with the other characters.

Being a big fan of Alexa's rocker romances reading this book was a big change for me. I thought it to be not as angsty as her other stories, but a lighter and easier read with a heroine whom I instantly wanted to give a big hug to.

Aidy lost her parents at a young age and most recently was deserted by the father of her baby. Yet she manages to rise above it all and return home pregnant not to lick her wounds but to become part of her family's business while at the same time completing her master's degree. Imagine her surprise when she moves into her new apartment and finds that her neighbour is her brother's childhood friend Ryder.

The connection between them is instant and sizzling and though they start off as friends Ryder quickly finds that he wants more, even if Aidy's condition scares him to death. He is haunted by losing his mother in childbirth along with his baby sister and though he now works as a paediatrician, he is not planning to have a family of his own.

This is a wonderfully entertaining and uplifting story that will make you smile (especially when you meet Rosie the puppy. You will be cheering Aidy on as she works hard to overcome difficulties, to succeed in her career and finish her education, all while pregnant. You will fall in love with Ryder who has to be the perfect guy we all seek, hot, sexy, and caring while overcoming his own fears to be there for this strongly independent woman who needs him.

I loved this book and looking forward to the next one in the series.
