Vampires don't get happily ever afters.

Jack Valentine finally has her shit together. She has a great job, great friends (well, one at least) and a girlfriend whom she loves, even if she can't work up the courage to tell her that yet. Unfortunately, she also has an archnemesis who's about to punish her crimes in the worst possible way: by making her spend time with him.

R A T I N G: 4.5 stars to Judgement Day! ★★★★

'The bite doesn’t even hurt; there’s just a wave of dizzying, glorious pleasure, like an entire cake that tastes as good as the first bite, a never-ending first drag of a cigarette, an endless orgasm . His blood on my tongue is like the best kind of Massacre.

‘There’s a little voice in the back of my head that says: We are the same kind of monster.’

A series that’s not afraid of its own belonging in the bookish arena of fanged urban fantasy. The sli

Jacqueline “Jack” Valentine has been a Silver (vampire) for twenty years. She’s still new to this world, but she is an effective Seeker (paranormal police and tidy-upper of human messes). Her astute observations and unwillingness to let things slide means that she has come to the attention of several powerful members of the Silver community. Judgement Day is the second book in the Seekers series by Josie Jaffrey. Jack is back with another case of a human killed by an unknown vampire. There is fu ...more

I read May Day (book 1 of the Seekers series) towards the end of 2020, for a blog tour, and I absolutely loved it. I was immediately desperate for a second book in the series, so when I heard Judgement Day was being released, I was so excited! I had extremely high hopes for it, and Josie Jaffrey certainly delivered!

Once again, I have to take a moment to mention how impressed I am with the way Josie always includes trigger warnings in her books. It is important, and it is something that I think e

I’m a big fan of Josie Jaffrey’s Silverse, and was happy to dive into Judgement Day. It’s the second book in the Seekers series and needs to be read after May Day – that said, you do not need to have read the rest of the universe to enjoy this one, but it certainly makes it a wee bit more enjoyable if you’re aware of the bigger picture.

I’ll be honest and say May Day was not my favourite Josie Jaffrey book, but it certainly had me curious about the series. Fortunately, Judgement Day hooked me in

Judgement Day is the second installment of the Seekers series. Seekers are vampire agents who try to keep the word about vampires spreading to the human population. They help clean up messes and figure out murders by vampires.

The book starts off a little bit after the ending of May Day. Jack is happy with her lovely girlfriend. Or she wants to be. But the jealousy her girlfriend is skyrocketing at the

I was provided a free copy of this book by the author to read in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Trigger warnings: violence, murder, blood, gore, injuries, dead bodies, mention of child neglect, detailed autopsy and forensic investigation, sexual content (consensual), blood-drinking, drugs, alcohol. Josie has a complete list of all content warnings in all her currently published books that you can find on her website!

I received an eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. It has not affected my opinions.

JUDGEMENT DAY follows up MAY DAY with another twisty mystery that is a lot less simple than it first seems. There are clues, red herrings, and a lot of mistakes to keep you guessing as the crimes and mysteries pile up. Plus Jack is forced to confront some of her prejudices about people she actively hates as they're not acting the way she'd expect - or wants them to.

As well as containing the noir-

Jack has everything going right for once, a gorgeous girlfriend, a great job and awesome friends. Unfortunately the relationship she has with the clever, sexy Dr Tabitha is put in jeopardy when she’s forced to spend time with Killian Drake for punishment after setting fire to Matthew Feltons house, while he was in it.

Jack is insistent that Drake won’t come between them and even though there are a few issues it all seems to be going well. That is until a new blood bar opens in Oxford and the silv

This one was so fun. I have read all of Jaffrey's books. I have liked all of them as well. I was IN for the ride on like page 2 of this one. It is my favorite for sure.

Now, I wish Jack would have been a bit more in tune with herself and the people around her for most of the book, but that is NOT in her personality.

Things I loved: Killian Fucking Drake, Jack's general attitude, probation, Jack is fallible, boxing is terrifying, stupid stealing, the blood bar, character development, pace, dictio

* Non-Spoiler Review*

The second instalment in the Seeker series and boy did it pack a punch! Jaffrey brings some more twists and turns in this sequel.

Again we enter the world of Jack (Jacqueline) Valentine, a Seeker (detective) of the vampire community. You find her trying to manage a semi-normal life, yet, she has to face consequences for her previous actions. Not only that her current relationship with Tabby is on a knife-edge due to her undercover job with Killian Drake turned into something

Damn you, Josie, for writing such good books.

Real review coming later, for now, just add it to your TBR. You won't regret it. Read May Day first.

I have always written stories, but it wasn't until I started the first book in the Solis Invicti series in 2014 that I really became obsessed with writing. I love to read, particularly where the escapism of the story is enhanced with an element of fantasy or science fiction. For me, writing is simply an extension of that journey, but I get to decide what happens next (though it's amazing how often ...more
