Me: I’m so over those books about young girls getting kidnapped.

Also me: Oooh, Shalini Boland has a new book about a young girl getting kidnapped. REQUEST!

Jill takes her granddaughter, Beatrice, and her friend, to the fairgrounds. She’s thrilled for this opportunity because her daughter-in-law, Claire, doesn’t think she’s fit to watch over Beatrice. Then, in the house of mirrors, Jill gets a phone call from her ex-daughter-in-law, whom she’s still friends with. Although the call is brief, Jill

In the ups and downs of reading it’s fab to pick up a book by an author who you know is going to deliver, if you want an exciting, whodunitish psychological thriller written for the reader to fall into and be welcomed with a good plot, great characters and a lot of ‘mmmmm wonder if it’s her/him’ then this is for you

I have always enjoyed Shalini Boland books and I was really excited to get my hands on this one.

I was very disappointed. It was really different to her other books, it was long winded and predictable. I figured out what was happening fairly early on and the story did seem to drag.

Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for my advanced copy, sorry I didn't enjoy it more. i will still look forward to her next book.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

I was a bit thorn about even reading this book or not, because I have learned that this subject is not something I click with. I have a hard time liking books with missing children and their overprotective mothers. The reason why I decided to overlook this was because Shalini Boland. I don't think I need to explain that one.

I am happy I read this book. Shalini is such a talented author that she can get me hooked on pretty much anything she writes (Shalini, what does your to do list look like...

My Little Girl by Shalini Boland is another brilliant read from an author whose shopping list, if published, would make an appearance on my TBR. I was long overdue for a read that I was powerless to put down and, as expected, Ms Boland delivered.

Jill has taken her granddaughter Bea and a friend to a local fun fair. The trio are having a wonderful time until the unthinkable happens. Jill is temporarily distracted by a phone call, and in the blink of an eye her beloved Bea has disappeared. Upon he

I was excited to finally get a Shalini Boland book, having heard good things about her previous works. This was a fast-paced suspense novel, albeit predictable.

Claire and Oliver Nolan's seven-year old daughter Beatrice is kidnapped from a fair while in the care of Oliver's 65-year old mother, Jill. The Nolan family is beside themselves over their missing child, each of them dealing with the trauma in their own way - Jill is organising search parties, Claire is trespassing properties to follow l

Shalini Borland writes crisp, sharp domestic thrillers and I have enjoyed every one of them. My Little Girl moves so quickly I was halfway through when I looked at the clock and reluctantly put the book down for thr night, only to pick it up first thing next day to finish it, A missing child, lost at a fairground, brings a marriage to its knees and there are five or six suspects and I had them all pegged until I didn’t. I loved Jill, the grandmother and hope she figures into another story.
There's no such thing as a bad Shalini book. Even one as different as this. MY LITTLE GIRL is not like her usual domestic thrillers but the tension is just as great. The queen of the killer twist may not have her usual twist in this one but there is still a twist or two to keep you guessing throughout.

Seven year old Beatrice Nolan disappears in the Hall of Mirrors at the visiting fair where her grandmother Jill has taken her and her young friend Millie. Having taken her eyes off the girls for a

Review for 'My Little Girl' by Shalini Boland.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Shalini Boland, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 22nd April 2020.

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. The previous books I read are 'The Other Daighter', 'One Of Us Is Lying' and 'The Wife' and I highly recommend each of them!!

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis. I loved Shalini's 'The Daughter', '

I didn't have much to do last Sunday. Actually, that's a lie. There were lots of things - mostly household chores - that I could and ought to have done, but I couldn't motivate myself to do any of them. So when I got a text from my sister-in-law, inviting me for a now permitted meet-up at a local park, I was delighted to accept.

The only thing was that the park in question was a shorter journey from my house than it was from hers. So with a few spare minutes to kill, there seemed no harm in readi

Seven year old Beatrice disappeared at the fair while her grandmother was watching her. One minute she was there making faces in the mirrors with Millie and the next she was gone. Jill the grandmother has been beside herself since her disappearance.

Claire and Oliver have been married eight years. They’ve always been there for one another. Apart from now, when it really matters. They’ve been equal partners who support each other except now. This tragedy has turned their lives upside down. Claire

I always love it when Shalini Boland released a new book. I just know for at least one night I am going to go without sleep and most of all have a really good read only problem is when I have a good read I do not stop reading until I finish the book. I have tried for almost 50 years to condition myself to read for one hour per night You can safely say I failed miserably.once again Shsilini as done it again.,out do her last book I just genuinely think it's n

As many other reviews have said, I agree that the missing child storyline has been overplayed. However, I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to read a Shalini Boland book as she hasn’t done me wrong so far. So against my better judgement regarding the subject matter, I requested this book and got stuck in.
I was very disappointed, though and should have overlooked this one. There just wasn’t enough meat to the story. We spend approximately 75% of the book watching the parents and Jill’s react

I love discovering new (to me) authors!!!

This was my first Shalini Boland book and Wow!

I was immediately drawn into the plot and the characters with it’s fast pace and heart-wrenching situation.

Jill takes her seven year old granddaughter Beatrice and Beatrice’s friend Mille to the fair. Beatrice’s dad Oliver (Jill’s son) was supposed to take Beatrice and her friend to the fair but at the last minute called his mom to take the duo instead.

While Jill and the girls are having fun in the House of

The description of this book claims that My Little Girl is “A totally gripping psychological thriller full of shocking twists” and while I didn’t find that to be the case, this thriller was still an enjoyable, if somewhat predictable read.

My Little Girl tells the story of Jill, a grandmother who take her beloved granddaughter, Beatrice, to a fair. What should have been a lovely evening turns into a living nightmare when Beatrice goes missing. The reader then follows as the expected tens
This is the story of any parent's greatest nightmare - the disappearance of their child. Brilliantly told.

This is a story told from the perspective of two women - Claire, the missing girl's mother, and Jill, her mother-in-law. In many ways, this story is vivid a portrait of these two women and their relationship. Women who at first glance do not have much in common, apart from the obvious love for little Bea. Claire's strong personality, which keeps her constantly searching for her missing child

My LIttle Girl is another winner by Shalini Boland. Most of the story unfolds over one week and Boland packs a lot of tension and suspense into those seven days. The story alternates between the point of view of Claire Nolan and her mother-in-law Jill, with a few short passages from the kidnapper’s point-of-few. Claire doesn’t trust her absent-minded mother-in-law to care for seven-year-old Beatrice on her own. However, when Claire decides to go on a rare girl’s night outing, her husband allows ...more

My Review:

Another fabulous read by the fabulous Shalini Boland. In my book she is the Queen of psychological thrillers. She has been writing these kind of books since 2016 and I finally only have a few more to read by her. She has been on my top favorite author list for years. I can’t wait to read more by her so she better get to writing.

This book was a about a mother and her mother in law who would stop at nothing to find their precious daughter and granddaughter. Did the child run off? Was s

The worst nightmare a mother could face is when her own child disappears mysteriously into thin air. Claire's husband, Ollie was supposed to look after the girls but Jill, ended up looking after them. Jill tries hard to become a good grandmother but Claire thinks Jill could be absent minded and may not look after Beatrice properly. And so that's what happened when Jill was answ ...more

7 year old Beatrice goes missing while at a fair with her grandmother, Jill. Jill is beside herself with guilt, and Beatrice’s parents, Claire and Oliver, are devastated. Multiple viewpoints take us through the days afterward, as both tension and suspicions rise.

This was a decent read, but not my favorite book by Boland. It starts out with action almost immediately, when 7-year-old Beatrice disappears from the fair that she attended with her grandmother Jill. Jill is beside herself with worry and Bea's parents, Claire and Oliver, are mad at each other for having situations that didn't allow one of them to be with her. There is a lot of mistrust between these characters that the author delves into further as the story progresses.

I’ll admit I hesitated after reading the synopsis about a missing child. I’m anxious enough these days….BUT it was written by Shalini Boland. I had to read it!

I think Boland’s success is that she writes about the plausible and because of this, readers become absorbed in the story. As is the case with all Boland’s books, readers spend most of their time ruminating about the potential villain and it makes them suspicious of every character. I love Boland’s voice and how she tells a story. It’s he

A gripping and twisty page-turner from the queen of psychological thrillers!

I get so excited whenever I hear that a new book is coming out by Shalini. She is one of my go-to authors and I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I’ve ever read by her. I think I can quite confidently say that I would read her books without even reading the blurb!

My Little Girl by Shalini Boland is definitely an unputdownable thriller. Losing a child at a playground or fair is every mother's worst nightmare, and Shalini Boland heightens Claire's emotions as she suddenly becomes suspicious of everyone and everything around. Was her daughter kidnapped by her husband, her mother-in-law, or her husband's ex-wife? Past jealousies and emotions come out to play, bu
