This picture word book of 1000 first science words is the perfect STEM book for helping children learn.
This book introduces key scientific concepts while broadening children's vocabulary and strengthening their early reading and writing skills. Every picture-packed page is full of things such as sounds, light, senses, and machines, with words for each image.
1000 Words: Science clearly labels each picture, which encourages picture-and-word association and helps early reading. Each topic features questions that ask children to find things on the page or that stimulate thinking, talking, and early science skills. The words have been chosen with the help of a leading educational consultant, and include lots of useful nouns, plus some interesting adjectives, and common verbs.
This fun and educational picture word book is a must-have first reference title for parents who are keen to develop their child's language, science, and literacy skills.

This is an okay picture book of science words for very young children. In some cases, it is confusing, since it labels parts of the pictures the same whether they are nouns, verbs or concepts. The child will really need an adult there to explain. Some of the words are not really science other than as a stretch, like those in the cooking pages and math pages, but it all sort of relates to science. Lots of relevant science words are omitted, while lots of rather irrelevant words are included. Many of the words are filler and are very basic words. I felt like it could have been much better executed, but some children may enjoy looking through it.
Rounded up from 2 1/2 stars for me.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
Although the title is in the language of science, the book contains carefully selected terms used in everyday life, such as body, measurement, vehicles around us, and eco-systems.
The book is best suited for children from toddlers to about 10 years old.

A great learning source for kids! This book of 1000 science words really held all that. Words from the playground, to the science room, to words about the earth, and just about anything you could think of. We really enjoyed going over this whole book, it had so many words to offer. I was especially happy to see it include some pages on math, such as adding and subtracting and multiplication. I always enjoy these DK books and I think this is a really great book for young children and I would be more than happy to add this to our library!
