Tonight, I walked off the end of the Santa Monica pier.

I know I'm no longer alive, but somehow, I don't feel as though I'm dead.

This limbo is the story of my life and the reason for my death.

I expected to burn in the depths of Hell.

I expected to pay for my sins.

I expected to suffer for the rest of eternity.

What I didn't expect was to find my soul mate.

My name is Mara and

Purgatory is like heaven in the book world. It's a captivating story that can be read in one sitting because you don't want to stop reading it until you reach the last page. Gabby is an interesting character in CD Reiss "Submission Series" and glad she made a come back here in The Drazen World and tell her life after death. And who would have thought scorching scenes are allowed in Purgatory? I didn't, but I enjoyed it immensely. It just goes to show how well written this novella is. Overall, it ...more

Purgatory is an interesting place. A holding place between Heaven and Hell. To figure out your life, the rights and wrongs, the good and the bad, a place to figure out where you belong.....Up Above or Down Below.

Purgatory is part of The Drazen World (Kindle Worlds Novella). I was worried to read as I'm not a fan of the Kindle Worlds. CD Reiss is the writer of the series and I just didn't think I would enjoy someone else writing her characters. Boy was I wrong!!! This short nove

I first reviewed when this book was published and it was a Drazen World novella. It’s since been updated and will be the start of a new series.

So don't hate me but I don't believe in that heaven and hell stuff; the idea that there is this space where the soul is in limbo whilst a greater good decides if they go up or down. I just don't get it. I’ve put my scepticism in a box and put it to one side.

I tell you this, if Hunter is in purgatory, man alive (excuse the unintended pun) I want to be the

Welcome to Purgatory, part of CD Reiss The Drazen World.

Well my goodness what a great novella this one was!! Purgatory is where we find Gabby lingering after walking off the end of the Santa Monica pier.

Unable to see any colors, Unable to play any music, she must reflect on what has happened in her life. Thank goodness for Hunter there to help guide her along! As I can only dream of when I arrive in purgatory, I will have someone like Hunter to ‘guide’ me **wink w

What a gem of an introduction to LeNoir’s brand new Soul Guardians Series! I don’t usually read this genre, but the blurb piqued my curiosity no end. The author took me to a realm of the hereafter where her heroine is in limbo, where she has time to make peace. But more importantly, she’ll have the opportunity to learn what forgiveness is and if ever possible, find happiness.

Reprise is so enthralling that I devoured it from the beginning to end without coming up for air. So, how did I feel whil

Purgatory by Eva Lenoir is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read.

Songs of Submission by Cd. Reiss has a very special meaning for me, not ONLY it is an amazing series with dear characters but it also brought amazing people to my life, so when one of these people wrote a fan fix about Gabby, one of my favorite characters in the series, I couldn’t wait to read it.

Purgatory is one of those books that you wish you don’t have anything more to do than read, it was wonderful, full of LOVE, it

It was an honor to be a part of the Drazen World. I've been a fan and supporter of CD Reiss for a long time and having the chance to write about one of my favorite characters in the Submission series wasn't something I could resist. Thank you Christine for making it possible!.
Purgatory was no easy feat.
I wanted Gabby to have a happy ending but since we all know that wasn't her fate in the Submission series, I decided to go beyond.
What if...there is love after life?
What if...there is redemption i

This was the first book in Drazen world series that I had read. This was also the first book by Eva LeNoir I have read. I was blown away!

Gabby was Monica's friend in the Submission series. She walked off a pier one night drunk and drowned. This is Gabby's story. What lead up to her downing.

I am always just out of reach of happiness, of fulfillment, but at the same time not completely in the depths of Hell.

Gabby was perfectionist. When she wasn't as perfect as she thought she should be she would

Leave it to Eva LeNoir to give Gabby her HEA. Purgatory is heartbreaking, exhilarating, sweet, unflinching and totally LeNoir. She totally put her stamp on one of CD Reiss' most haunting characters. It's a wonderfully satisfying conclusion to Gabby's girl interrupted life. Ms. LeNoirs's unflinching take on Gabby's ruthless self examination and search for self worth as she awaits her final judgment will stay with you. And her addition of Hunter to the story is nothing short of brilliant. This has ...more

I'm speechless.

This novella is bloody brilliant. Okay addressing a few elephants:
★ Its what I call 'spiritual' paranormal.
★ No, you don't need to read Songs of Submission (more in a moment).
★ The author puts you into the character so far you are not sure if you can find a way out.
★ The author probably gives 'zero fucks' she made me cry.

This is a Drazen World novella. So yes, having read Songs of Submission by CD Reiss does help with the origin of the main character, Gabby. Mainly what has drive

Paranormal genre isn't exactly my favourite, it used to be but I seem to have outgrown the phase until this.

My first book from this author, it was a slow start for me but the pull of Mara's dark and sad aura drew me in gradually. I wasn't that keen on her but the character development of Mara in this first instalment in the series was well written. Hunter and Sam's dynamic characters add more dimension to this tale but the way Mara has to deal with her "demons" before going on towards the next

Love, love love!! CD Reiss' Submission Series has been one of my all time favorites for years. Gabby's story has always intrigued me and I wondered about the why's and how's of her death. Eva LeNoir gave me some closure in this brilliant Drazen World novella.
I think I needed this more than I was initially willing to admit. This well written book offers all the answers to unanswered questions about Gabby. Eva captured her spirit VERY WELL. It was very moving for me. It was almost haunting. I lau

Having only read a co-authored book from Eva Lenoir, I started reading Purgatory not knowing much about this author’s style. The category/genre had not yet been defined and I also went in blind, without having read a blurb. Having finished reading I had felt I had read a good, solid four-star read but have, on reflection, decided on a five-star rating. I couldn’t find fault with it and it ticked all my five-star boxes.

This one hit me straight in the feels, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so emotional so quickly while reading a novella. Eva Lenoir doesn’t hold back in Reprise, a tale of sadness, remorse, loss and then finally acceptance. Although it’s extremely heavy subject matter there are still moments of lightness and humor.

Reprise is not your typical romance, not for the weak of heart, but for the ones who believe that soulmates can supersede death. Mara and Hunter have the tiniest touch of forbidden love

I loved C.D. Reiss' Submission Series, and the fan fiction presented by established and new authors keeps those characters alive. Ms. LeNoir's Purgatory is a daring and masterful addition to Drazen World. She has creatively tackled the tough issue of Gabby's death and her eventual closure and satisfaction found during her stay in Purgatory.

I've long enjoyed Ms. LeNoir's writing style. I loved her use of color to set the mood and cast light and shadows on Gabby's path in Purgatory. Gabby's soul s

Where does one even start with this?!

Blew through this bad boy in a single sitting. Not gonna lie, I HATED Mara at first. She was just NOT a nice person and it REALLY got under my skin that I was supposed to like her...

BUT THE CHARACTER GROWTH!

Don't give up on her. She's worth it, I promise.

Rarely does a novella give you the feeling of a complete story—Purgatory does.

I haven't read the original series this story is set within, so I can only judge this book on its content and oh my goodness, it's both hot and spiritual. How can that happen??

The author's world building is beautiful and unique. I fell in love with this short story and wished I could read more.

This novella is the first in Eva LeNoir’s Soul Guardian’s series, and it’s an emotional and heartfelt paranormal read with a fast but swoony romance.

This novella was originally a Drazen World story from CD Reiss’ The Submission series, written under the title Purgatory. From what I can gather, it’s been reworked a little bit, with a change to character names (Gabby is now Mara, Monica and Jonathan are now Sophie and Jake), I’m not sure what else has been altered, but it works well as a s

What a breathtaking start to the Soul Guardians series. After Mara walks off the end of the Santa Monica pier, she finds herself in purgatory.
