Greer Lockhart set out to save the world from itself when he organized his first beach cleanup at the age of twelve. Now, as a uber-successful venture capitalist for eco-friendly startups, he doesn’t let anything get in the way of his goals—whether personal or professional. When a new fitness app schedules a site-wide cycle race, Greer’s competitive side won’t let him back down. Not even when his undivided attention turns to the one racer he can’t beat: Biker101.
Dallas Reigns learned a long time ago to keep his head low and his focus forward. He gives his all to a business he started with his brothers, BikeBro. But he worries his all might not be enough if they can’t gain traction before their financial ship sinks. A chance meeting with a hard-hitting venture capitalist is just what they need. Until his resistance is tested when the striking blond man shows interest in more than just his company, challenging all Dallas’s etched-in-stone boundaries.
When the illusion of Dallas’s life threatens to crumble under the weight of his own desire, can he find a way to fortify his iron will, or will Greer help him breakaway from the restraints of his past?
Breakaway is a stand alone, M/M romance by Kindle Alexander. This is one of my favorite kind of romances, the ones that start with that meeting of the eyes, that instant jolt that tells you that this is a moment in your life you will never forget. A moment that changes everything. That’s exactly how it began for Dallas and Greer.
Dallas Reigns is twenty seven years old and is literally burning the candle at both ends, not sure how much longer he can hang on at this pace. He and his two brothers have started a company, BikeBro, where riders can sign on for virtual spin classes, competitions, and training sessions. Dallas shares a tiny apartment with his brother, Ducky, who is the computer wiz in the family. Dallas is the athlete, the face of the company. He’s the one on the bike. But they aren’t making any money yet. They are spending it though. Dallas is working as a personal trainer at a nearby gym to try to stay afloat.
Greer Lockhart is thirty years old and is founder and CEO of Enviro Capital, a venture capital firm. I have to admit up front that at first I didn’t like Greer much. He was a player. His life was busy and he had neither the time or interest for anything but hook ups. But then it happened. He was in a club and saw him. He couldn’t look away from his eyes. He couldn’t get enough of hearing his voice. Dallas claimed he was straight. But somehow, Greer felt like there was a lot more to that story. He wanted this man, for a lot more than just one night. And, he was pretty sure that Dallas wanted him back. He just had to wear him down until he admitted it.
“I think you’re my missing piece.”
When they were together, both of these men felt at peace for the first time in their lives. Dallas thought he would lower his defenses and allow himself just one night. It wasn’t long, though, until he knew that one night would never be enough. That forever wouldn’t be enough. Greer knew that Dallas was the one. That there would never be anyone else for him. He was all in and would do whatever it took to make that happen.
Dallas’s life was bursting with complications. How could he ever put his mess on someone else? Greer didn’t deserve that. But now that he has had a sampling of what life could be like with someone you cared about, how is he supposed to walk away?
This was a sexy, sweet story of two men who found their perfect match. They had many complications to overcome, both personally and professionally. They will be tested. They just have to decide if what they feel for each other is strong enough. I think that Dallas’s story is the one I will be thinking about for a long time. What he experienced early in his life was terrible. I loved the way that these two just made each other better. It was a beautiful story.
“I’ll love you forever.” “I’ll love you back just as long.”
I was debating myself before writing my review. I love Kindle and I was crazy about her book, Always. Breakaway is a standalone story about Greer and Dallas who were met the business deal. I do not understand about online cycling business, just knew it from Will Morowski on Instagram. Probably because I had no idea about this, a little too much information and technical, bored me. Greer in my opinion is one of those clingy boyfriend that some people needed, but not me, I felt claustrophobic reading Greer's messages and how much he always wanted to be near Dallas all the time. It was exhausting. Also the too much telling didn't work out for me anymore. I have lost my patience too many time. I had to skimming and I hated it when I have to skim my reading. I need to devoured every word written, but this one didn't seem hold my attention much.
The story itself is simple. Greer met Dallas the closeted gay because his father is a homophobic b*stard and been on therapy, so he's kinda afraid to show who he really is. While Greer is out and proud. That's it. This is a decent story if you're up for a long book and the telling not showing. I knew I'm in minority with my opinion (kinda hold up a bit seeing all the five stars rating). But I have to go on with my opinion. If you're a big fan of Kindle, please do read all the glowing reviews, you'll probably would have the same opinion with other reviewers in the end.
Love is love and if you are a fan of MM romance then Breakaway is a book you do not want to miss! It is the perfect combination of amazing characters and a steamy storyline that will warm your heart and keep you engaged from the beginning to the end. Greer and Dallas were so easy to fall in love with. They both have big hearts and just want to belong and feel loved. Together they are an amazing couple finding their way through their new relationship and surrounding themselves with people who care and support them. They both have experienced life with people who don’t accept them for who they are and they have decided that they will not let those people dictate their happiness. I love, love, loved this story! Grab your copy! You won’t be disappointed!
This book is classic Kindle Alexander, slow build, great characters, all the feels, a little drama that makes you want to soothe the guys and the dreaded side character you want to stab in the eye with a sharp implement. The story takes a little while to suck you in, then you can’t turn the pages fast enough to see what’s going to happen next. Why I gave this a four stars is because it fell a little flat at the end for me. No spoilers here, but the time skip and what happened felt a little anticlimactic. I think maybe I’m greedy and I wanted to see them build that relationship over the 9 months... see greedy but then I’m always the same with these two authors.
It’s no secret that m/m romances are my happy place, and Kindle Alexander is one of those rare authors whose books make me drop everything else the moment they come out. One of the characters is a young entrepreneur with a great startup idea but in dire need of funding, and the other is one of the most successful venture capitalists in the country. When they meet, their attraction is immediate and intense, but one of them has spent his entire life learning how to tamp down his urges, and it takes a very determined but patient man to help him rewire years of self-deprecation and denial about his own sexuality. The perfect blend of steam and emotion, this story owned my heart from the get-go.
Where do I even begin! As a huge fan of this duo I always look forward to the next book. Breakaway blew me away! Greer Lockhart is a successful venture capitalist, environmentalist, and philanthropist. Dallas and his brothers are barely getting by but hold the key to a possible goldmine in the fitness industry with an invention that will rock the fitness world! They just need someone to believe in them and invest. Greer gets one look at Dallas and is all in pulling strings with his friends Tristan and Dylan to invest and bring Dallas's dream into reality. Greer is an all or nothing guy and he relentlessly pursues Dallas. Dallas is attracted but due to abusive conditioning by his homophobic father remains deeply in the closet. As feelings take over, can he come out of the closet and forsake his family? Greer tries to be patient but thats not his nature. He wants a forever with Dallas and he will stop at nothing to achieve it. Dallas needed a hero, someone to stand by him and he found that and more with Greer

I loved Greer and Dallas's story. I really enjoyed reading about how this family was struggling to start there busy and the stress that Dallas was under to make sure this worked. Also, Dallas internal struggle was fantastic to read and it was a different angle that I have read with someone dealing with there sexuality before and it was very refreshing. I couldn't put the book down, it was funny and had the amazing character development and story plot from all of Kindle's book. It is a definite must read.
If I had to summarize this book with one word it’s poignant. This boom has left me with a book hangover the likes I haven’t had in a long time. I also was caught between the desire to read this book in one marathon stretch but am ultimately happy I savored the book over the course of three days. If I have one regret, it’s that I can only read this book for the first time once. All of the above being said, this book is one of the most beautiful journeys to happy ever after I’ve ever read. It took me to the peak of the mountain of joy to the valley of sadness and back. These two precious men are so deep and ever evolving and have so many stories within the frame of the overall plot to tell. This book will take you with Dallas and Greet as they travel on a road of acceptance, self-actualization and finding true happiness through unconditional love of one another.
This book was another wonderful beautiful love story from Kindle Alexander. They weaved words of heartbreak, love and triumph. They pulled on the heartstrings making me feel all the feels. My heart was full when I turned that last page.
The characters were wonderful, well except for the horrible brother and father, and the growth of Greer and Dallas was amazing. I loved the unique storyline and the chemistry was combustible. The sexy times were hot with a capital H.
Another great book from Kindle Alexander . A slow buildup then the fireworks start and the hotness leaps off the page. I enjoyed this story and absolutely loved Dallas and Greer and the added extra of other guys from previous books.
I want more! Greer is this amazing guy who loves so deeply and Dallas🔥 is this hunky hottie who will melt your heart💙 if work didn’t get in the way I would have finished this right away, it was so hard to stop and put down once I started.
Greer Lockhart, 30, founder and CEO of EnviroCapital, a successful venture capitalist, environmentalist, and philanthropist who is focused on eco-friendly initiatives.
Dallas Reigns, 27, helps anyone in need. He volunteers for things all the time. He and his brothers have started BikeBro, a simple device that turned any stationary bicycle into a social exercise machine and they are working hard to perfect it. But they need hard cash and are looking for investors.
When the brothers are introduced to Greer Lockhart, venture capitalist by Dylan Reeves & Tristan Wilder, Greer is excited to dive head first because, besides investing in a solid company, he will be spending time with Dallas.
With Dallas firmly in the closet and no intention to get out, Greer needs to make him see that he is a worthy man, kind and a true gentleman. And slowly, but certainly, Dallas realises that he could keep his values and chose a colored-filled life. He needs get over the lifelong facade and start living his own live, for himself with Greer in it.
The way Dallas and Greer meet for this first time, instant attraction and knowing you just met your soulmate, is the kind of romance I love reading from Kindle Alexander. This author has become an automatic buy for me, and I was, again, not disappointed. The only thing that has me keeping from rating this a solid 4* is the 3rd person description. his mister, his love, his man, his trainer and making sure the reader did not forget that Dallas has emerald-green eyes and Greer has amber eyes.
Dallas and Greer’s story has the same feel as Secret. Fairly light hearted, romantic, and sweet. There was a tad bit of relationship drama but it didn’t last long. Loved MOST of the side characters and HATED one. There were a few KAU( Kindle Alexander Universe) cameos and mentions which I loved!
You guys know how much I love a smart, sexy, sweet M/M romance and damn, if Breakaway wasn’t just that!
From the start, I loved Dallas from his swoony good looks to his devotion to making something out of BikeBros down to his smart, sweet interactions with his brother, Ducky. Dallas is someone who puts everyone and everything ahead of his own wants and desires. He’s buried his feelings for so long, he really doesn’t know what he wants. Until he lays eyes on Greer.
And, wowza, is Greer an eyeful. Greer is out—loud and proud—and unafraid to go after anyone and anything that he sets his eye on. And that includes Dallas—who vehemently states he’s straight.
But Dallas so isn’t, he’s just kept that part of himself locked down, afraid to let his desires show for fear of losing the family he loves. But Greer is a force of nature. One Dallas doesn’t want to deny any longer. And when he finally accepts that part of himself, even at the risk of losing his brothers, only then does Dallas realize just what he was missing without having true love in his life.
Breakaway is truly an apt name for Dallas and Greer’s romance. It’s Dallas breaking away from the binds that he’s kept on his heart and accepting himself for who he is. And Greer is just the man to help him, and catch him in the end. ~ Missy, 4 stars
Kindle Alexander is my go-to when I want to grab a MM romance that is going to wrap my heart in the feels in a very, very good way. KA did not disappoint with Greer and Dallas' love story. Again a fabulous love story wrapped up in family dynamics to give me a page-turner I devoured over two days.
What I loved: - The story touched on more than just the romance. Some of the difficulties LGBTQ members deal with when coming out of the closet. The story was told heartfelt and not preachy. - Combination of characters to develop a story that kept me engaged when the main characters were not the focus.
Things to consider: - I would give this story 4.5 stars. And I cheated because I looked at another review to pinpoint what I needed to be different. Word repetition within a scene is present that may have you skim.
Again this is a story you want to sit down and enjoy. Think about it because it is more than love. It's about finding your true self.
Kindle Alexander take a HUGE bow!!! These two extremely talented authors have, once again, made me feel every emotion possible. Dalla Reigns and Greer Lockhart were simply superb. Two men who I so easily fell in love with. In many ways they reminded me of Avery Adams and Kane Dalton from Always, with the struggles and obstacles that they had to overcome to find true happiness. There is instant attraction, chemistry and heat, yet hurdles must be jumped to find the happiness and peace that is desired.
" ... stunning emerald-green eyes focused directly on him. The jewel-tone gaze touched places inside ... he didn't know existed."
All it took was one look and Greer Lockhart was lost, lost to a man he knew he was never going to let go ... Dallas Reigns. Suave, sophisticated, work driven, Greer had me falling on my knees, this man was magnificent. He's a man with a very big heart, someone who cares for the environment and is willing to bring about change. An interactive exercise app and a trip to a local bar is about to change everything for him. A man who has him thinking of a future has eased his way into his heart, but will he be able to keep him there?
"He'd found utter contentment and happiness ... soul destroying kisses and gentle warmth."
Having spent most of his life living a lie, Dallas Reigns has finally begun to find his true self. The trauma and heartache he suffered at the hands of family members was reprehensible, yet he is still able to work alongside his older brother to help make their dreams come true. Dallas and his two brothers, Donny and Ducky, have invented BikeBro, an application to be used in conjunction with a stationary bike. A night out with some friends has Dallas meeting Greer Lockhart ... drunk and feeling very handsy, Dallas makes a lasting impression ... let's just say the chemistry between them sparked.
"I want you like this, but I also want you in my life every day. I can wait ... I know we belong together." "You're the man of my dreams ... but it won't be easy for us." "Easy's for wimps."
Dallas and Greer have many obstacles to jump and walls to crumble on their way to finding true happiness. The heartache that they have both suffered from family is devastating. Greer ... well I fell in love with him ... yes, he was a chaser, but he cared, and it showed in the patience and time he was willing to give Dallas. I also loved the fact that he could be extremely assertive when he needed to be. Dallas, his story broke my heart. As a result of his past he has a lot of thinking to do when it comes to Greer. He needed to know that he could be loved for who he truly was and not for who people wanted him to be. Their relationship was fast moving, yet it was obvious that both men truly cared deeply for one another, many of their decisions life changing.
"I'll love you forever." "And ever." "And ever." "I'll love you back just as long."
BREAKAWAY is a beautiful, heartbreaking love story. It is a journey that will draw upon every emotion. Love, acceptance, self-discovery and understanding ... a journey to finding true happiness. Breathtaking from Kindle Alexander.
This was quite a heartwarming read, and I liked the way the author creates unique and interesting characters with a really great and thought out back story, and this is a great example. Things weren’t made to easy for Dallas and Greer, especially on Dallas’s part. I instantly liked Dallas though Greer was harder to get to know, but as the story developed, he won me ‘round and I loved his integrity. It was a charming romance and has others have said it has the emotional feel of Secret, which is true, and it certainly has depth. I’m sure you’ll have some opinions on the supporting characters too; I adored Ducky, but Donny not so much. So all in all, you’ll get great chemistry between the MCs, an interesting storyline and the trademark detail you get from KA; what’s not to like?
Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMG Reads.
I loved this! Kindle Alexander wrote engaging characters who had me rooting for them the whole time. Greer had an attraction to Dallas and initially saw him as more of a conquest, but spending time with Dallas showed him how much more was possible. It was great seeing Greer realize what he wanted. My heart broke for Dallas. He had tried to ignore his sexuality for so long because he knew he would lose most if not all of his family. Seeing his struggle was hard, but seeing him end up happy was even better.
As for the BikeBro invention, I want one!!! How great would it be to have a social group to chat with that was powered by exercise? I’d totally join that. Great idea and execution.
Dallas worked at a gym, was a substitute teacher and also owned a new and upcoming business with his brothers. Greer a very wealthy guy met Dallas at a club one night through a mutual friend. Greer was so attracted to Dallas. Dallas kept telling Greer he was straight. However, Greer new better, luckily Greer pushed. Poor Dallas was never able to live his true live until Greer and then there were issues.
I don't want to say more, everyone needs to read this book. You will have so many emotions. I needed a few tissues.
I am a huge Kindle Alexander fan, these books get better and better. They are all amazing in their own way.
Greer Lockhart is a man that everyone should emulate. He wants to make the world a better place and he lives his day to day life just like he preaches. He doesn't mind making money in the process but the end game is the betterment of the world and the people in it. He is using this new interactive exercise app call BikeBros and is frustrated that Biker 101 threw the race against him. He sets out to find out who Biker 101 is and to get a rematch. In the meantime he meets a guy at a club that instantly attracts him and has him thinking long-term for the first time in his life.
Dallas Reigns is 1/3 of the brother team making up BikeBros. He's the middle brother who is the face and backbone of the company. He lives with his younger brother Ducky and is drowning in debt to make their dream a reality. He's also hiding a big secret from his family. When he's out at the club celebrating his boss's birthday he meets Greer. The attraction is instant and because he's so drunk, he's unable to hide it. This starts a chain of events that is the beginning and ending of Dallas's life as he knows it.
I really liked this story. Dallas and Greer have great chemistry together and it plays out well in the story. Their personalities blend well and after just a few misunderstandings they are able to have a mutually loving and beneficial relationship. Dallas has to make some really hard decisions to have Greer in his life but quickly realizes that sometimes to be true to yourself those decisions aren't so hard after all. Greer realizes that mixing business with pleasure isn't always a bad thing. These two guys have family issues that are heartbreaking and show us that not all parents give their children unconditional love. I also like that the authors continue to intermingle their books together by having other characters cameo in this book. As much as I liked Dallas and Greer, my favorite character is Ducky. I really want to read Ducky's story. He is treated poorly by his older brother and father and it pulled at my heartstrings. He's a really strong guy and just as much a backbone of BikeBros as Dallas. I hated Donnie from the first moment he was mentioned. He is a bully and a bigot and didn't deserve to be part of Dallas and Ducky's lives. All I can say about him is good riddance to bad rubbish. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to the Ladies Alexander for allowing me to read and review this book.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads
The story starts with us meeting Dallas and his brothers who are trying to make a go of their fitness business BikeBro. We meet Greer separately and learn that Greer’s personal trainer is Dallas’ best friend. As we get to know a little about our main characters the story moves a bit slowly. Then Greer meets Dallas the first time and their chemistry is off the charts and the story takes off. I was hooked.
The connection between the men is so strong and their journey is so emotional. Some parts of the story were sexy and full of heat and joy. Others were difficult and heart wrenching. Through the hard times the men have some good people around them to help them. I particularly loved Dallas’ little brother Ducky. I hope he gets his own story sometime in the future. As for Dallas and Greer they are both good guys and deserve their happiness. It was inspiring to see Dallas come to the realisation that he deserved to live an honest life and to be happy. I was also inspired by Greer’s commitment to his environmental projects and taking care of those around him..
This was a story that had me crying at various points and my heart breaking but by the final page the tears I was crying were tears of joy. If you are an m/m romance fan don’t miss Breakaway, it is wonderful!
Breakaway is a wonderful, swoony worthy romance by Kindle Alexander.
It took me a while to get into this one. I admit that setting up the circumstances, with the business info, had me bored. But things pick up quickly and by the end I was mesmerized by this love story. Cue the book hangover.
Dallas doesn't want to be attracted to men. But with Greer he struggles to hold back. He's spent his life closeted and in denial, but with Greer, everything comes together. Both man feel peace and contentment when together.
Greer knows that Dallas is the man for him. He just needs to convince Dallas that being together is worth it. What follows is a powerful journey for the two men. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
I love the title, as it indicates Dallas's fear and his burdens of expectations. He's lived his life closeted due to his family circumstances. As well, he is part of the business the brothers created and he works way too hard due to their attitudes. In Greer, he finds someone who encourages and supports him in finding a way to live for himself. He finds a reason to "breakaway" from his chains and be the man he wants to be.
My heart breaks for Dallas. He's miserable, living a life he doesn't want. His family issues are drowning him and he's overworking himself. He just wants to grab his chance to be happy. A lifetime of being firmly in the closet, he's also lived a lifetime of being riddled with anxiety. When you learn the depth of his background, you will cry. The poor man has suffered a lot. Seeing Greer help him find his courage, reason, and strength to be himself is wonderfully inspirational.
I love these men and their relationship. Sometimes we need help to live freely, and Dallas definitely needs that help. The characters have a lot of layers and their journey is certainly complex. With the author's amazing writing style, they are fully brought to life and the reader is able to follow every emotion along the way. You will cry and swoon along the way, so be prepared for the emotional rollercoaster.
Breakaway is truly a stellar read. Kindle Alexander brings plenty of pain and hurt into this story, yet leave us readers feeling blessed to see the uplifting happily ever after ending.
I love books by Kindle Alexander. They are well written, have hardly any mistakes and deliver with enough emotion for me to turn the pages. The beginning and world building were unusually slow and what drove me nuts was the ladies' desire to give at least four characters in this book a name starting with D. So when I read the first two chapters I went back again to check out who's who. What I loved about the book were the relationships between the characters. I loved how Dallas supported and protected his younger brother Duncan who went by the nickname Ducky, how Greer and his sister Kailey were bickering with each other, some cameos from previous characters, and the well rounded side characters. Elements of the story may be triggering. There is a time gap and the end feels rushed. The relationship between Dallas and Greer happens mostly in the closet. The story arc worked towards a confrontational climax, which made me turn the pages faster but in a twist that climax felt anticlimactic. All in all this is a great read and a must read for Kindle Alexander fans.
I'm never disappointed with anything Kindle Alexander releases and Breakaway certainly is a fantastic read. They made you fall in love with Greer and Dallas, and never want to put this book down!! I never wanted it to end. It had be going through all sorts of feels reading this fantastic book. 100% recommend.
Kindle Alexander did it again. You fall in love with the characters from the very beginning. Was a hard to put down book and just captures the romance and feeling of Dallas & Greer and makes you want to read more!! Great job!!
I love love this book!! This is an amazing heartbreaking, romantic, funny, entertaining and absolutely adorable story! I fall in love with Dallas and Greer, such a great characters. Dallas is an amazing guy with a sweet soul and so caring for his younger brother Ducky. Dallas and his brothers starts a business, BikerBro and he is trainer, he is also smart and a hard worker. A chance meeting with Greer is all it took for Dallas to fall for his charms and good looks. Greer is a venture capitalist and wants to help to save the world, meeting Dallas change everything for him and for the first time Greer see him self falling in love. This two have a great chemistry, they balanced each perfectly and Greer is so good for Dallas,I like how protective he is of him, their journey is hard but their make it work. Kindle’s books always make me fall in love with his characters and she knows how to write the best hot sexy scenes... these to are hot together!! I can’t recommend enough this book, this is a beautiful story that you need to read! I received and ARC in exchange of an honest review.
Another hit for Kindle Alexander. Breakaway is a MM contemporary story in set in the USA. Main characters are Dallas and Greer. Dallas has been hiding his true self and with Greer he can be himself. Greer is a venture capitalist, Dallas is the inventor with his two brothers of BikeBro an invention for your stationary bike. Loved this story and want more from Dallas and Greer
Breakaway is Kindle Alexander's newest sexy, emotion and fun romance! I'm a huge fan of this writing duo. They were my first mm read and I haven't looked back! This story is about Greer, a smart, successful venture capitalist who never lets anything get in his way when he wants something. And he wants Dallas Reigns. Dallas keeps to himself and just wants the business he created with his brothers to succeed. The first time he sees Greer he knew it was a bad idea. He's always denying himself of happiness, but Greer has more to offer than just money to help his company. Greer wants so much more but Dallas can't let that happen. Until one touch. One kiss changes everything. Now Dallas doesn’t know whether to run away from Greer or right into his arms. Greer isn't going to let Dallas go, he knows he needs time and he'll wait forever for him if he has to. I loved this story! Dallas is so sexy and fun and his past wasn't easy. Greer is sexy and smart and I love how he just goes after what he wants, but he's still sweet about it. I loved them together and I loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones!
Be still my heart, what a book! It gave me all the feels. I was smiling, swooning and teary eyed , even spilling some tears. Oh how my heart went out to Dallas, I needed to hug him so many times, it was sad what he went through and what he kept inside of him fighting, so freaking sad. Thank goodness for Greer coming into Dallas’s life and not giving up on him. I love them both and they’re perfect for each other. I loved Ducky too, I hope he gets a story. I wanted to throttle Donnie & their father, they so angered me. I loved that other characters and businesses from previous books were mentioned, it was great. I took my time reading this book and wanted to savour it, it was so good, I really enjoyed it! Loved It! A Must Recommend Read!!
I really enjoyed this story. I love Dallas, he’s such a sweet guy. Love the dynamic between Dallas and Greer. I loved seeing old friends from secret. It’s a great read.
