Discovering Santa

Rate this book
"Ain't no Santa Claus!" Mutt’s words, cold and hard on that hot July day in 1947, started a fight with Mutt’s best friend, Jeff, and set the stage for a confrontation with the Old Man in the Red Suit himself. Mutt and Jeff, with the always faithful and sometimes brave dog Buck at their side, set out on a Christmas adventure never to be forgotten. Along the way, their friend Daisy pushes and badgers them, making certain that they don’t lose sight of what they really set out to do. For three children and a dog, their Christmas Eve will be full of excitement, danger, and suspense—even a little romance and a few laughs. Together they will learn a little about Santa Claus and Christmas—and a lot about themselves.

3.5 stars. This story tells about events in a boy's life when he is "in between"....and his experiences at Christmas time as a nine-year-old. He has important questions for Santa Claus. However, he ends up asking Santa what Santa wants for Christmas. He learns an important lesson about the meaning of Christmas and important life lessons. The writing isn't great...but suited for children "in between" and I think the story would interest them.

Cute story. Not great writing style.

This book inspired my son to want to "help" Santa this year.

Fun book. Not as sappy as it could easily have been Way too much telling instead of showing, though the voice was interesting enough to put up with it.
