My confession of the day: I requested this book simply because, well, chocolate. It was seriously on this basis alone that I rushed to grab this read because it revolved around a chocolate factory, romance or not be damned.

But there were things that I couldn’t look away from that made the premise of the story somewhat odd. The premise of how Charlotte’s friend managed to get her signed up to this internship at a chocolate manufacturer by a poorly-filmed video was an unbelievable one, compounded by the fact that even weirder contestants—comic-relief types for parody purposes—were chosen in this reality-show-type series.

Despite the story containing the enemies-to-lovers trope, the initial portrayals of Luke/Charlotte weren’t exactly appealing. If I found Luke too aloof, stoic and quick to jump to conclusions, Charlotte was even harder to like, her actions seemingly driven by her insecurity in needing everyone to like her. Thrown off simply she was used to everyone liking her (and unhappy when Luke didn’t), she devolved to spying on his ideas then accused him of stealing hers, becoming hysterically petulant and flaky in the process while swinging between lust and hate. That she was too ready to always think the worst of Luke—even towards the end—didn’t bode well for a pairing that I wanted to root for.

Consequently, I was cringing at the ‘crackling of electricity’ between them which felt more awkward than steamy. I tried to go on, but Luke/Charlotte together just seemed too contrived, even up to the halfway point when it felt as though these two weren’t even trying to get along but trying to rationalise their own bad behaviours towards one another.

I wish I could have liked the romance here as much as I adore chocolate and while the latter is pretty much an eternal favourite, I’m afraid this book didn’t quite go down as smoothly as the chocolate ganache I normally devour by the ton.

Loved this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-esque story! Mix romantic comedy with chocolate and you have a sure-fire winner in my opinion!

I'm not a lover of reality TV, except when it comes to cooking shows so as this was chocolate I felt that fell in the food category, lol. Charlotte has left her last job due to her odious boss and gets entered for a reality type show where a job at a prestigious Chocolate Company is up for grabs. Charlotte sets off for Seattle for what could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

One slight wrinkle in the plan - she actually LIKES her fellow intern hopefuls. Especially one tall, handsome, very rigid and a stickler for ethical business practices, Luke. Can she mix a possible romance and the cut-throat competition for the internship? Or will both pass her by?

Plenty of laughs, hot passion, sweet, sweet chocolate, and a truly inspiring collection of interns "amirite?" LOL. All the interns brought something different to the story and I loved the fact that whilst all competing for the job, a true friendship developed between them. Well, most of them!

I'd happily read more from these characters.

REVIEW ON MY BLOG
https://www.emilythebooknerd.com/2021...

At first, I requested to read My Sweet Enemy simply because it revolved around a chocolate romance that was compared to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory with enemies to lover's story thrown in. Enemies to lovers is my favorite romance trope. However, the book was hard to follow at times because there were tons of side characters.

I honestly did not even care for the main character Charlotte that much because she became super whiny throughout the book and had a major lack of trust in the main hero Luke. Luke gave her no reason to not trust him and I became seriously annoyed with Charlotte in the process.

Charlotte ends up competing with Luke and other interns for a job offer. The whole competition was hard to follow and the challenges that the characters had to go through were kind of unbelievable and far stretched. Plus, after the whole competition going on throughout most of the book ended in the way that it was extremely frustrating for me. I won't give anything away but I found myself saying "come on" by the end of the book.

I did enjoy the actual steamy moments of the book though. However, I do think I would have rated this book higher if there had been more steam. For most of the book, I wanted sweets and chocolate. The story dragged on a bit. My Sweet Enemy is all about falling in love with the rival you are competing with. I did not love the book but I didn't necessarily hate it either. All and all it was pretty average.

Sweeter than a box of truffles
4 stars

This is the debut novel by Jenny Hartwell and by and large it’s a cute, sweet and fun enemies to lovers story. I would also class it as new adult as our characters are 21 and 24, and quite often they very much act like it. Goodreads also says this only has 150 pages but it’s actually got nearly 300 - so my expectations of an insta-hate to insta-love story were never going to happen.

This was an enemies to lovers story but wow - this pair really took enemies to the extreme. At times they were downright vicious to each other. I had hoped that Charlotte could have at least taken the high road or stayed true to her kind personality - but that’s what I mean by the pair acting young.

Like others, the competition aspect was a bit confusing to me. Surely a successful company already has good food techs, marketers and business professionals? And how can you have a competition with such different specialities? But I went with it and it was fun just to watch the show.

Charlotte was a sweet and kind girl and I liked her a lot. Luke was a little bit more of a mystery to me. Harsh and cold at the start, he seemed to have a massive personality shift once he and Charlotte got together. I still liked him in those times but he seemed like a completely different person BC and AC (before Charlotte and after Charlotte). Oh but he wore glasses (something I’d have liked the cute cover to show) which makes him damn near perfect in my eyes. Love me a sexy nerd. The pair had an interesting chemistry and I did like their interactions. The sexy times were nicely naughty and I felt the feelings so I was happy. And if the ending didn't give me a quick tear in my eye then the acknowledgements definitely did!

There were a few soapbox moments which were quite heavy handed but apart from that, the writing flowed and I kept turning those pages. I was engaged and interested from beginning to end. I also laughed out loud on numerous occasions - Ms Hartwell’s humour definitely shone through.

A nice cast of supporting characters also added some meat to the bones, although why authors use characters with the same first initial bothers me greatly. Surely I’m not the only one that gets muddled when trying to remember which one was Simone and which one was Sofia.

I enjoyed this book and it really was a sweet treat with a dash of humour and heat. I will definitely look out for further books by Jenny Hartwell, especially if she plans to give Megan and Damien their own story. 4 stars from me.

My Sweet Enemy is a delightful book! I suggest not reading this while hungry or you may end up craving lots and lots of chocolate.

Charlotte is a recently unemployed chocolate maker who finds herself part of an internship competition for a dream job. Things get complicated when her antagonistic relationship with Luke, one of the other interns, starts to heat up.

The competition aspect was fun and I loved seeing all the ideas each person brought to the table. I learned a lot about chocolate making from bean to bar, but the info wasn't overwhelming or too technical. The chocolate factory is in Seattle and there was so many fun details about the area that were included. I have lived there my whole life and loved all the references.

Luke was such a good guy, and it was nice getting his POV. It really helped me to like him when he seemed so stiff and standoffish at first. He and Charlotte were so sweet together, a perfect match.

My Sweet Enemy is a solid three star read. I do wish it was written in the first person, but the writing still flowed nicely.

Charlotte, a chocolatier, gets chosen for a internship contest ending in a lucrative job offer. She has to compete against four other interns, one of them being Luke. Even though Charlotte can feel the connection between her and Luke from the beginning, he does everything to stay away from Charlotte and when he does talk to her he is rude and passive. Even still, Charlotte doesn’t give up and wants to get through his walls.

The story was sweet, but some parts of the competition were a little too detailed for me and I started skimming over those parts. Charlotte was an okay MC, but I felt like there was nothing special about her. Luke had a more interesting back story, but even the story with his dad was too long at times.
Overall I think this could’ve been a little shorter, but was a nice feel- good story.

This was really cute and fun! The premise was a little weird - the fact that the five very different contestants were fighting for the same position was confusing. Also, the challenges could have been clearer, but despite that, I did enjoy myself while reading this!

A chocolate-dipped enemies-to-lovers romance that’ll have you craving chocolate and walking eye-candy.

Unemployed and dreading her next student loan repayment, Charlotte Beecher is ecstatic to learn she has won a place as one of five interns vying for a chief position working with her idol at Simone’s Chocolates. Chief of Chocolates is her absolute dream job, but she knows she’s competing against some great candidates. One who happens to be in the form of the drop-dead gorgeous Luke Wells. Except, Luke is an absolute arse who freezes her out when she’s just trying to be nice and friendly. And after a few little accidents and misunderstandings, the two are more than just competitors, they’re enemies. But there’s more beneath both of their exteriors that’s preventing them from being true to themselves and each other. But when there can only be one intern chosen at the end, it’s a big risk to jump into bed and trust your competition, especially when you’ve already assumed the worst about them.

This was a super fun and sweet romance, with a side of slow burn, and all dipped in chocolate for good measure. I love a good enemies-to-lovers, and while that aspect frustrated me at times because it was just all based off assumptions (and by seeing both sides of the story you can’t help but be frustrated at both characters for their miscommunication and conclusion-jumping), the progression from enemies to lovers just worked for Charlotte and Luke as they delved into their backstories.

Aside from the romance, I really enjoyed following the characters through their internship and the challenges they were put through. The story was a fun concept and it had me craving chocolate and wanting to work at a chocolate factory (well, maybe just being a taste-tester at a chocolate factory...).

The cast of characters as a whole were super fun too, and in particular I really enjoyed seeing Charlotte’s friendships with fellow interns Sofia and Megan. Both were really interesting characters and I can’t wait for Jenny to explore their stories in future books. Hell, I’d love to also follow Simone’s story in a book! I love a good companion novel series, and if it means we get to hang out with this chocolate gang some more, sign me the hell up!

Heavily inspired by Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this book is definitely one for chocolate lovers and romance fans to keep on their radar. Now excuse me while I go buy a box of truffles...

“Charlotte Beecher was having chocolate for breakfast. Again......”
When a book starts with that sentence, how could you not pick it up and read it. And then throw in comedy, punchy one liners, and romance, well it sounds like a great recipe for a book.

I don’t watch reality tv (I know shock right!) it just doesn’t appeal to me, but if it was made into a movie, I’d grab popcorn and M&S’s and watch it.

Charlotte needs a new job, she left the last one after being taken for a ride, people not being replaced and Charlotte was having to pick up the slack!!
And after three weeks she will take anything! Her money is dwindling away and she needs to prove to herself that she can do this.....

Luke needs to strike out on his own, he needs to show his father he can do a job without family trying to step in and help.
Stiff and uncompromising, he can’t afford to fail......

They are both up for the same job, both bringing something unique. There are also a few other hopefuls all vying for the job.
Becoming a chief of operations would set that person on their feet and open many doors.

And when Luke and Charlotte first meet there is a spark, Charlotte is definitely interested, Luke doesn’t want to know, he hasn’t got time to waste on romance.
But as Luke spends time with Charlotte, he sees behind the smiles, he sees a large heart and a lust for life (and chocolate) he gets pulled into her orbit, and struggles hard to ignore it.

Laughs and passion aplenty in this book. Witty comebacks and sharp retorts had me chuckling.
And sabotage and a little backstabbing (people are wanting the save job, you didn’t expect all five to be nice did you?)
Five people all wanting the same job, but with five different people bringing five different skill sets how will one be picked?
Different challenges are set to work out who is suitable for the job, chaos can be assumed and a few sneaky tactics are used!!

I did like Charlotte, her Sunny disposition did make me smile, she tried really hard to make friends and be liked (which isn’t always easy)
Luke I wanted to loosen up just a little bit more.
I just loved her best friend Beth, so funny and a straight talker. She was there to offer support and to throw her in at the deep when she thought Charlotte needed it.
My only gripe is the pettiness that once took hold, took a little time to get worked through (and a fair few pages are dedicated to this!)

Don’t know if this is a Charlie and the chocolate factory comparison, but it is fun, and it will keep you busy for a few hours. But I’d grab some chocolate before you sit down (I ended up craving chocolate all the way through) 😉🍫❤️

Jenny Hartwell’s My Sweet Enemy is a fun and witty romantic comedy that is as delicious and indulgent as your favorite chocolate treat but with none of the calories.

Charlotte Beecher is a chocolatier who is in a bit of a bind. Up to her eyeballs in student debt and with no job on the horizon, the future is looking rather bleak for Charlotte. Making ends meet is becoming more and more of a struggle with each passing day and Charlotte is so desperate that she might end up even selling her beloved copper pots in order to keep the wolf from the door and a roof over her head. However, just when the sunny chocolatier had been about to give up, an opportunity presents itself that could be the answer to all of her prayers: a gourmet chocolate factory has launched a competition to help relaunch their company and Charlotte is one of the finalists. However, she hadn’t counted on her rival, the talented, charismatic and oh so handsome Luke Wells, who is standing between her and the top prize.

Luke quickly manages to dazzle the judges with his marketing prowess and flow charts and when he snubs Charlotte during the first challenge, it becomes clear that he isn’t going to let anybody stand in his way of claiming the coveted prize. Luke is determined to win at all costs and he is not about to let anybody or anything stand between him and his big win. However, in all of his projections Luke hadn’t factored in falling in love with the competition. Charlotte is funny, dazzling, beautiful and somebody whom he simply cannot stop himself from thinking about…

Let the best man – or woman – win, but it soon becomes apparent that there is more than just a competition at stake here. Will Luke and Charlotte allow their ambition to blind them to the happiness that is standing right in front of their noses? Or will they realize that while some things are worth fighting for, love is the greatest prize of all?

Jenny Hartwell’s My Sweet Enemy is a fun rivals to lovers romantic comedy full of light and funny moments that will make you laugh out loud. The chemistry between Luke and Charlotte is absolutely electric and their witty banter and sizzling repartee will certainly have you chortling along as you find yourself completely charmed by this uplifting, emotional and feel-good contemporary romance.

My only qualm about My Sweet Enemy was that the details of the competition were sometimes rather confusing and overwhelming at times, however, Jenny Hartwell is certainly a writer I’ll look out for in the future.

"Chocolate in, negativity out."

Chocolate bring Charlotte pure joy, not only from eating the delicious creamy goodness but from creating these magic moments for others to enjoy. However with mounting student debt and no job in sight Charlotte is beginning to feel the pressure that is until her bestie enters her unknowingly into a contest to win a job at one of the best chocolatiers company. With four other people vying for a single job position in this Charlie in the Chocolate Factory inspired competition the last thing Charlotte needed was to start to feel things for her biggest opponent, especially when he is so hot and cold with her!

"Holy shit, were they… were they flirting? And was this some kind of sexual innuendo about freaking cow udders?"

••

After getting the boot from his family jewelry company Luke Wells just wants to prove that he is good enough and knows what he is doing, which is what leads him to the chocolate competition, he definitely didn't need the added complication of the temptingly beautiful chocolatier. But after getting of to a less than stella start the two dance around each other as their love hate attraction grows, but when it looks like there is a saboteur in the group will these two get their acts together before they mess it up forever?

••

“I think I could be happy just staring at you forever.” She grinned. “You’re so cheesy, I get orange Cheetos fingers just from listening to you.”

Loved this book! This was a deliciously sweet romcom that I loved from start to end. I'm a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope and Luke and Charlotte had this done to an art.

••

I loved Charlotte and her love for chocolate. She was genuinely a nice person that tried to look for the best in people, that is until it came to her little war with Luke, then things got pretty messy. As for our man Luke, he was a mystery wrapped in a smoldering deep stare. Under her cold standoffish personality he was actually a sweetheart with a real romantic heart. I loved that he wanted to stop such a major illegal trade that affects so many people.

••

Overall this enemies to lover deliciously chocolatey romcom was the perfect read that had me hooked all while craving a box of my favorite chocolate treats!

I adored this! I adored just about everything about it. The cute and tension filled connection between Luke and Charlotte had a realistic feel that I appreciated. Charlotte is a bubbly and happy chocolatier hoping to snag the dream job of a lifetime. Luke is sealed off, icey and looking to prove his worth to his father. He's not their to make connections. Together they are just two of the five chosen to intern for the lucrative Chief of Chocolates position.

When Luke finds out the sexy Charlotte was not just an airport run-in but a competitor, he puts his emotions into the vault and his game face on. Charlotte, with her kind nature and vibrant persona can't understand why he seems to hate her. If I was in her shoes and had a guy treating me like crap right off the bat I'd react like she did. And ohhhhh man, the tension and rivalry in the beginning was epically great! I think I verbally had a few "oh no they didn't" comments come out of my mouth. The sexual banter when things heat up is perfection. Let's not forget that this novel is filled with two of my other favorite things: reality tv and chocolate!

There is a lot of depth into topics not just about specialty chocolate making, but also conflict diamonds, ethical business practices, depression and a touch on race in the workplace. Call it my reality tv loving side but I even enjoyed the side characters and everything they brought to the book. I did get frustrated with the reasons for the back and forth between Luke and Charlotte. Communication is totally key! Outside of that I was just smitten with this novel!

I recommend this one to all of my sexy romance readers who enjoy reality tv type challenges and eyebrow waggling chemistry. Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to review this novel for an honest review.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of “My Sweet Enemy” by Jenny Hartwell. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thought this book was cute! It was exactly what I was in the mood to read. The story follows a competition to work for a chocolate company. Two contestants named Charlotte and Luke compete for a coveted job while fighting their attraction to one another.

This whole book was like the chocolate indulgences depicted in the pages. There were such tasty food descriptions and interesting information about making chocolate. The reality competition aspect was fun as Charlotte and Luke move from competitors to lovers. The two had great chemistry and some steamy scenes. I also liked how Luke wanted to approach his career from an ethical standpoint. That was really admirable and something more businesses should aspire to.

I liked the friendship Charlotte developed with the other contestants. No mean girls here which was refreshing. The author made me root for the other contestants too. Except for Chad which was one of my main issues with the book. There were hints that made me think the author was going to make him more complex but that didn’t end up being the case which I felt was unfortunate.

This was a fun and fast read that had me craving all the chocolate. Like chocolate, the romance could be bittersweet at times, but Charlotte and Luke were characters I rooted for both as a couple and in their careers.

I really liked the story of Luke and Charlotte. This was the first book by Ms. Hartwell, but I would gladly read more. Luke and Charlotte were like oil and water when they first met, but appearances can be deceiving if you don't look beyond the surface. The chemistry between them was electric and you could feel the connection through the pages. Competing for a job while trying to figure out if you want/can be more than competitors is a slippery slope, especially when you both have a ton of baggage.
The reasons each was there were different and compelling and I enjoyed the fact that they finally shared what happened to each other and the way the confessions happened organically. Having different outlooks on the same job was interesting and I could understand why they both tried to act indifferent at first, although they did act childish at times, which I found irritating once in awhile. The other interns fighting for the job were interesting as well and I was rooting for them all, except one. Chad was pompous and he grated on my nerves; he really did get what was coming to him, in my opinion.
Just when they think everything is going to work out, a wrench gets thrown at them and I wasn't sure if either of them would be able to move past the hurt. I liked how the familial issues were resolved for each of them and the outcome of the intern competition was excellent. I really enjoyed this book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary read.

My sweet enemy by Jenny Hartwell is a entertaining story of not just love for another, but also self love. Both main characters are fighting issues of self doubt, and even deeper strain felt from their unique family situations. Needless to say, with each of their emotional baggage being brought to a job competition, their relationship starts as less than friendly.
Attraction is only a distraction…
Both Charlotte and Luke have important reason to win the completion. They both want the job, but they also both REALLY need the job. Each of them enter the internship with “Simone’s Chocolate,” jobless. If they don’t win this reality-tv-esque competition, they go home to nothing. That alone is obstacle enough, and neither has time or space to explore attraction for one another.
I was impressed with Hartwell’s telling of chocolate creation and processing. She tells not only a story of human love, but also love of chocolate. Many times I felt the need to reach for a Lindt truffle while reading My Sweet Enemy. She did a fabulous job of character diversity as well. Everyone had a different talent: social media, sales, science, design… etc. They were also at different life stages, from different backgrounds, and with different preferences. I felt it was very well rounded and realistic.
I think anyone who enjoys a fun and sometimes silly romance should read My Sweet Enemy. If you’re not in it for the love story, read it for the fascinating journey of chocolate.

I went into this book with no expectations and ended up finishing it with a smile on my face and a craving for chocolate. (Honestly, be aware, because if you read this book I suggest you eat something beforehand or you will find yourself starving for some sweets.)

I loved the concept of the contest at a chocolate factory (I mean who wouldn't be intrigued by that idea?) and it was soo refreshing that there were no mean girls antics involved and that Charlotte, Megan and Sofia instead formed a genuine friendship. It was big plus the side characters were so great, because I had some difficulties with the hot-and-cold drama going on between Charlotte and Luke. Don't get me wrong, I love a good rivals-to-lovers romance but they just seemed to get off the wrong foot and make assumptions too many times to really establish something. The chemistry was there, but I wanted more out of their banter and relationship than the few golden glimpses we got there and there.

All in all, it's a promising debut novel with likable and different characters, an interesting setting/plot and a story that is bound to make you feel good (and crave lots and lots of chocolate).

I admit, what initially caught my attention was the fact that the story revolved around a chocolate factory. Duh! Who can look past that little tidbit?! Of course, knowing that it was a enemy to lovers helped a lot since it’s one of my favorite tropes to read.

The concept behind the story was interesting, if confusing at times, Thankfully, the author brought it all together in the end.

I enjoyed getting to know both Charlotte and Luke, but I would be remiss if I don’t mention that at times they came across as one dimensional. I would’ve liked to see a bit more character development when it came to these two. As is was, their growth seemed superficial.

As for the romance I’ll say that it was slow in coming, but definitely expected. The author managed to establish Luke and Charlotte’s chemistry through stolen looks, heated stares and sensual tension-filled moments. However, I think I would’ve enjoyed this romance more if I would’ve gotten to see more of Luke and Charlotte’s connection on the page. I felt like all their “explanations“ regarding the reasons behind their behavior could’ve been addressed without it being so lengthy. These moments might have brought them closer, but it didn’t establish any sort of connection between them except as reasons to excuse their behavior. 🤷🏻‍♀️

All in all a cute, enemy to lovers story with an interesting cast of characters and lots of chocolate goodness throughout.

This was the story I needed!! Work has been so cuckoo bananas busy that reading Charlotte and Luke's misadventures definitely helped brighten the week. Charlotte, who I'm guessing is named after Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is a chocolatier who is down on her luck. She needs a job like yesterday and cannot get a job in a chocolate factory, for reasons. Not telling, you've got to read it.

Enter Charlotte's chances of becoming Chief of Chocolates through a TV reality show competition. And of course, you can see that Luke will be one of her competitors for the coveted title. Both Charlotte and Luke have their reasons why they want to win the competition and so they are immediately oil and water. At least moreso than Charlotte is with any of the other contestants. But the opposite of hate is love right and so the sparks that Luke and Charlotte ignite off each other turn into a flame.

This book was funny, sweet (in more ways than one!) and a genuine good read. I was swept up in the story of who would win and how and if both Luke and Charlotte will realize their dreams.

Every once in a while I like to try out debuts of new writers. Because sometimes they can be a real gem. And because I usually like the books from Entangled Publishing and I really adored the cover (get me some chocolats now!), I requested the arc.
Jenny has an original story, with some references to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And as a girl: who doesn't love a story about a chocolate factory??? I actually worked for a chocolate sprinkles factory for some time, so the story brought back some fine memories and I could smell the chocolate. Also I liked the main characters Charlotte and Luke and their insta-hate attraction. The story contained some funny scenes and the tension builds up nicely. And also, the other characters where a great part of the whole story: the five different interns competing for a job at Simone's chocolates. All with different backgrounds and stories. I especially liked Megan with her social media background. Really cool.
In all, four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Part Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, part reality show, this book is cute. And it will make you hungry for chocolate.

Charlotte is a chocolatier who is out of work and has been blackballed by her previous terrible boss, and her student loan payments are close to due. Luke is estranged from his family business and is trying to make a difference in the world. And they both want the same job.

This is a cute, light read. The premise is adorable. You've got a sunshine one and a stand offish one. There's lots to like.

This is the author's debut novel and it has a lot of promise. Unfortunately, not all of the relationships felt as well developed as they could have been and sometimes I felt like a discussion ticked a box rather than revealed anything about the characters. I also got a little exasperated at how the two MCs kept jumping to the worst conclusions about each other. But I would read more from this author.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First thing first-the note from the publisher in the beginning truly sets the tone. “We love romance, and we hope this book leaves you with a smile on your face and JOY in your heart.”

Joy is my word of the year so I was happy their hope is to help bring joy to people.

My Sweet Enemy is a short and sweet book to read this valentines day tbh! In a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory competition, Charlotte and Luke are rivals but their attraction is too much for them to ignore.

“When all was said and done. It really just came down to size.
Charlotte bit back a grin.
The size of the chocolate, ofcourse”

I really enjoyed this for a light fun read! Highly recommend for fans of baking shows because imagine this happening to two contestants! Exactly, it would be perfection. So read about it in this book!

Well, if I read this book when I was younger, I might enjoy it because the story is an enemies to lovers romance which is one of my favorites lately. But I think Charlotte's behavior is so childish at some points. Of course, Luke's isn't better than her. They are adults so they should manage to fight their attractions to each other better than this. And Charlotte's clumsy at some situations are too boring. While I am reading those scenes, I think I might give the book 3-3.5 stars because I don't find anything that pigue my interest. I know that they both have their own issues but still their reactions toward each other are childish. All those misunderstandings are boring. But after I read through 50% of the book, I find that the story is written better. Well, the story is still easily predictable but at least, they finally act like adults and I think everyone can feel their sizzling chemistry so I decide to give the book 4 stars instead.

Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and Jenny Hartwell for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!
WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK WITHOUT CHOCOLATE. (and lots of it!)
I’m such a sucjer for an enemies-to-lovers trope. Throw in a cooking competition and I was sold! There were more than a few laughable moments that kept me flipping pages just to see what would happen next. I would’ve liked the completion portion to be flushed out a little more just to get a better idea of the whole thing, but I still enjoyed it. In December I read Jingle Wars and I got the same fun and flirty competitive vibe from Charlotte and Luke. TThe plot follows a predictable timeline, but seriously who doesn’t love knowing what you’re getting sometimes?

This book hooked me right from the start! The friendship between Charlotte and her best friend Beth reminded me so much of my best friend and I! Then you add chocolate, competition, a hot guy and some steamy scenes to all add up to a wonderful read! When Charlotte quit her job she didn’t expect to be shunned by the entire industry in the city due to her boss. When her best friend Beth signs her up for an internship vying for a job, her whole world changes. Luke Wells has just left all that he has ever known to stand up for what he feels is right. This leads him to the same competition and potentially, to the love of his life! This book gave me all the heart eyes 😍 and emotions I could handle! It was a roller coaster of emotions throughout but in a good way! My Sweet Enemy by Jenny Hartwell truly is a sweet and sexy read!

This was a cute, chocolate-filled book and when there's chocolate, I'm always interested.

However, the description for the book and the book itself is very different. Charlotte and Luke are competing with 3 other candidates to get a spot as a C-level executive in a gourmet chocolate company. They are required to go through a series of competitions in order to gain a coveted spot.

I really liked the premise but this was a really confusing book. I didn't think that Charlotte or Luke had chemistry except for when it was written that they had chemistry. Luke is too cold, even if he is just really awkward. Charlotte is way too clumsy and her clumsiness doesn't lead to funny moments, they're more just cringy.

This book might not have been my cup of tea, but someone else could really enjoy it.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

My Sweet Enemy is a little Charlie and the Chocolate factory with a bit of a reality show thrown in. This enemies to lovers book has unemployed, swimming in debt, Charlotte getting a shot at working for her chocolate idol Simone though an internship contest. Luke has left the family business to try and make a difference in the world and the internship is his ticket. These two battle it out during the challenges and misconstrued ideas. It was a cute, fast read. I also enjoyed the female friendships made throughout the book. Now, excuse me, I need to go find some truffles to eat. 3.5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, misspelling, and grammar errors in this review are all on own.

When Charlotte left an untenable work situation she didn’t realize the effect it would have on her career and she finds herself in quite the predicament with bills to pay and no income. With the help of her friend she has the opportunity to complete for her dream job and the only thing standing in her way are the other contestants.

Discontent with the family business Luke has decided to forge his own path and his job will help him do that. Charlotte and Luke couldn’t be more different when it comes to their view of the job, but they may just find out the sweetest reward is not the job but each other.

The interactions between Charlotte and Luke are entertaining and there are some unique secondary characters that add to the story.

this is my first book from the author and I'm not gonna lie, I liked it a lot.

I started this book with no expectations at all because i don't know the author not the writing style but I finished it with a very heartwarming feeling so thank you for this book It really was such a light read.

Charlotte and Luke started stormy and guess what bought them together? Yes, Chocolate and that's exactly why this story is as sweet.

I absolutely loved them as a couple and as individual characters, they have so much chemistry and a greater character developments with DELICIOUSLY soft moments.

I recommend this book as a light read after an exhausting day.
