Sometimes second chances come in small packages and unknown places.
When a car almost runs over him in the middle of a snowstorm, ex-Navy SEAL Micah Richards knows he’s hit rock bottom. After the deaths of several of his teammates, Micah is sure of two he only hurts those he tries to protect and their deaths are his fault. He has one family left on his list to pay his respects but stranded on the side of a mountain in the middle of the night, Micah has run low on options until Casey Stewart comes careening into his life. The last thing Casey wants is a man, especially one as charming and handsome as Micah who reminds her of her heartache from high school. And especially not when she has so much on her kids trapped in the middle of bad neighborhood cycles at home and a sister who needs out from under their mother’s roof. But helping is in her nature, and something about Micah makes her want to let him in. Now in the same city, Micah and Casey just can’t seem to stay away from one another, despite Casey’s best efforts. The more, he gets to know the community, the more he wants to stay. When a local drug dealer goes awry, Casey has only one person to turn to—the one who could hurt her heart the most. Micah must face the demons of his past to fight for his new team and new dream—a woman with the heart of a warrior who fights for others. A woman he would die for.
Kariss Lynch began her writing career in third grade when she created a story about a magical world for a class assignment. Chasing her dream into college, she received a degree in English at Texas Tech University and fell in love with writing faith-forward sweet romance and romantic suspense about characters with big dreams, adventurous spirits, and enduring hope. Kariss is a diehard Texan and makes her home in Dallas with her husband and three little kiddos.
One: There is no such thing as an EX-NAVY SEAL. There are NAZY SEALS and THERE IS NO EX-NAVY SEAL. ONCE A NAVY SEAL ALWAYS A NAVY SEAL. Once a Marine always a Marine, once a soldier always a soldier, once an Airman always an Airman... Okay, you get the point?! (Yes, I am totally serious --as a Veteran's daughter and Air Force brat this REALLY BUGS ME.)
Two: NAVY SEALS AREN'T SOLDIERS. They are NAVY SEALS, they are in THE NAVY, NOT THE ARMY. The Army has SOLDIERS, the NAVY has sailors. Not soldiers, okay?! I really did love this book but the general opinions that are mistaken about the branches of the military bug me to no end.
I’m so late in getting my review of this book up😅. Life has been a little bit wild. I found the time to curl up in a hammock with a blanket on a nice day a few weeks ago and I was able to devour this book. I loved every second of Heart’s Cry. The romance was just 🫶😍😭🥰🫠🥹 (yes, I am using emojis to portray what my words cannot. If I tried it would be unintelligible fangirling😂) Micah and Casey just went so well together. I loved their constant nickname battle. It was so adorable🥹🫶 They were hilarious. Aside from how much I loved Micah and Casey together, I loved them on their own as characters as well. They were both so real feeling and had a-lot of depth. The side characters were all fantastic as well. And the setting😍 It was perfect. I loved the small town feel. Everything about this book was amazing and I definitely want to read more by Kariss Lynch. It was the perfect fallish read. . . . *I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts expressed are strictly my own. *
So much to love about this book! The message is clear and thought provoking. Both the main characters are kinda hard to love at the start especially Casey. She’s been wounded and has on an armor of steel around her heart. Although Micah has scars his connection to God and his family have kept him from becoming too hardened. He still wants to get to know Casey. There is a strong attraction to her even though she’s difficult most of the time. She prides herself in helping others and not needing help herself. Both of them are fighting to help others. Watching them learn they can fight together and be more as a team is beautiful! They call each other different nicknames throughout the whole story trying to find what fits. Most of them are old school but it’s cute and flirty. Christian romance at its best! Check this one out!

okay I feel like I say this about every book but literally find me a man like Micah. A GODLY MAN!! The character development for Casey and Micah brought you closer into their stories and helped show how real their relationship was through all the lows. The way they treated each other was so wholesome and seeing both of them break down each others walls was real. This book was everything and more, and I’m just going to leave this quote here… 🤭🤠
“No way was she interested. She couldn't be. Not to a gorgeous charmer with a southern accent and a protective streak a mile wide. Not to a daredevil who could break her heart. No way.”
I have read all of Kariss Lynch's books. This book is a sequel to her previous books that focuses on a supportive character, Micah Richards, from the "Heart of a Warrior" series. I enjoyed reading this book as it was a great story on how we as individuals "do" need each other to do life as we were not meant to live life on our own. The story incorporates life as a Navy Seal with the main character struggling with the loss of fellow seals, while also focusing on the development of a beautiful sweet love story with the other main character, Casey, who is also wrestling with her own past. We were created for relationship and the need for others to help in our times of need that even can help us heal by love. Very good read, sweet love story.
Heart’s Cry by Kariss Lynch is a powerful and deeply emotional story of redemption, healing, and unexpected love. Micah and Casey’s journey is filled with pain, hope, and courage as they learn to trust again and face the wounds of their pasts. Lynch beautifully blends romance and faith, crafting a story that feels raw and real while offering a message of grace and second chances. The characters are richly developed, the chemistry heartfelt, and the stakes high enough to keep readers turning pages late into the night. A touching, faith-driven romance that lingers long after the final chapter.
Such a great and uplifting story of second chances. We all have regrets and things we’d like to do over. Sometimes those things seem to keep coming back to haunt us. A great story about hope and seizing the chance to get a fresh start. I love it when my favorite authors take a character from a previous series and tell their story. Heart’s Cry is Micah’s story! Can’t wait to continue to see what is in store for Micah and Casey!
I love this writer. I have been waiting for this book to be released ever since I discovered her over a year ago and bought her 3 books she had written. This is her fourth one out. In this book she shows hope, not just one that is struggling with faith, but with the one that has faith and was struggling with depression. Amazingly done and I cannot wait to read what next she has planned in this series.
A beautifully written, poignant story. This story encompasses so many emotions and important issues, and brings everything into focus. A perfectly wounded hero, a witty and strong heroine and so many strong side characters. Kariss Lynch weaves together an incredible story world. I can't wait to dive back into this place and people again.
This author is amazing! God has given her an amazing ability to write a Godly influence into real life problems. Her stories are the right kind of romance and never become risqué which is nice to see in this day and age. She also has an amazing ability to add suspense and mystery into each of her stories. Her books have all the great elements of an awesome story. I can’t wait for the next book!
A story written about Micah, who is a Navy Seal, and Casey, an employee of the local center.
They both are sometimes unsure of their faith, and don't it's hard for them to admit that they both love each other. This is a story of love, second chances, having faith in God and in each other.
