Grumpaholic

Rate this book
I should have destroyed her. Instead, I hired her.

People call me a grump. A prick. A pretty face with a cold, cruel heart. None of which bothers me in the slightest. As the most powerful real estate developer in this city, my world is black and white.

But Ella Veers is the smear of color I never asked for, and never saw coming.

I’m a classical concerto, she’s a punk-rock anthem. Blue hair, ripped tights, and a sassy brat attitude that gets under my skin and stays there.

When I hire the tempting little vandal to paint my conference room, I tell myself it’s to sideline her vendetta against my new development.

But the truth is, it’s because I crave her—her, and her submission.

Ella might be a thorn in my side. But all, as they say, is fair in love and war. And I play to win, always.

She was supposed to be my enemy. Instead, she just might be my undoing.

Grumpaholic is a standalone grumpy/sunshine boss romance with a smart, untamable heroine and an ultra possessive hero. No cliffhanger; HEA included.

A reader first and foremost, Jagger Cole cut his romance writing teeth penning various fan-fiction stories years ago. After deciding to hang up his writing boots, Jagger worked in advertising pretending to be Don Draper. It worked enough to convince a woman way out of his league to marry him, though, which is a total win.

Now, Dad to two little princesses and King to a Queen, Jagger is thrilled to be back at the keyboard.

When not writing or reading romance books, he can be found woodworking, enjoying good whiskey, and grilling outside—rain or shine.

Well he was a bag of Johnsons lol. This one was funny and steamy and level of we hate eachofher but wanna fudge eachother.

Ella hates Cormac with a passion since he's a rich snob who is tearing down her grandfsyhers retirement place. So she does what any artist does she draws. And she draws him with a bunch of Dicks 🍆🍆🍆 thinking she's gotten away with it but she hasn't. Mister Evil Satan finds her and gets her fired and now its a all out war. As for Cormac it takes abit to warm up to him since he has this ugh vibe about him and you do wanna smack that smug smile off his face when he tries many times to get even with Ella.. even if he's holding back he offers her a job painting in his office now these guys have TENSION..

But some more fighting and blast from the past makes their relationship harder.

No om drama some Ow drama(an ex), no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins no manwhore (H celibate 2 years)

“I’ve been rich, and I’ve been poor,” I hiss. “And I know I could be either and keep on living. But I’ve had you and not had you. And I know there’s only one of those scenarios I could live with.”

Swoon! I liked that this hero was an actual jerk. It wasn’t that he had a heart of gold hidden underneath, he legitimately didn’t care about anyone but himself. He actually changed for her, not just uncovered his softer side. It made of an interesting read.

I really tried to like this, I really did. But I couldn’t. I almost gave up at 20% but I soldiered through because I really hoped it would get better. Unfortunately, it didn’t. I found both the hero and heroine quite annoying, especially the heroine and her ridiculous antics.

2.5 stars for the hot sex scenes though

Brat needs to be arrested...

I like this author, I like a good grumpy boss or enemies to lovers romance. This was... not. The heroine continually acted more like a spoiled child and a criminal than a young woman. I was willing to forgive her first couple of "acting out" but eventually, I just don't understand why the hero kept putting up with it. I really enjoyed the first of the book, but seriously.. how many times can the man take her "sticking it to the man" before he realizes that no woman is worth all that? Her showing up for the "job" was the final straw... he actually offered it to her after all that? He said, "I don't give second chances" but at the time, he'd already given her several. DNF @ 60%

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.

4.4 stars. This book had me laughing in chapter 1. I loved it. Ella is a freaking hoot. Cormac is a definite Grump. He knows it and embraces it. The scenes between these two when they're arguing, are hilarious. This is a great one. One of my favorites by this author.

Really great book with great characters. Love Ella’s grandpa the best. The book has just enough of everything. From steamy sex scenes, great storyline to humor and occasional sarcasm. Just might type of stuff. For all the romantics there is HEA.

Just. NO.

I absolutely don't mind when women poke fun at their men, teasing, playing tricks or pranks. However, this female main character broke all kinds of laws and penal codes, destroyed the very clothes on Cormac's body, and was so frustratingly RUDE that I cannot even begin to enjoy a story that contains such bleak and.blatant disregard or respect toward another living human being. I get that Cormac made questionable, albeit personally profitable, business decisions that hurt a community of people who already owned precious little. That doesn't make what Ella did any less WRONG or awful, if not more so. He didn't personally set out to hurt people - he was simply ignorant of their plight, circumstances, lives. I bet if she tried petitions, speaking out, instead of destroying his personal properties, he might have made changes, as he was that moved by her appearance.

I couldn't even stomach the good parts of this story. Two wrongs never make a right, and her grandfather, the people who disdained and hated him without even knowing him or his background, all were, in their own way, wrong for encouraging and applauding her actions. She set out to cause him humiliation, property damage, considerable financial losses in terms of repairing/correcting her defacing of his buildings, and attacking him personally, and.destroying his seven thousand dollar suit? She had no guilt, regret over any of the actions she was caught dead to rights committing. Her rudeness, sheer audacity and lack of humility or sense of pride, were all deterrents to enjoying this book. She epitomized the bully and awful person she accused Cormac of being. I usually enjoy Jagger Cole's writing. Maybe the next one. I cannot support fiction like this, or accept even the HEA - she didn't deserve it, or Cormac. One star.

Looking for a quick escape from reality in the form of a super sexy, age gap, enemies to lovers book filled to the brim with hilarious, biting humor and tons of witty banter? Do you appreciate a tall, dark and gorgeous, hot as the Devil himself, grumpy and confident alphahole with a sweet, hidden softer side?? Should I mention the Scottish accent? Well, he has one and it upped his wow factor for me even more.

Cormac meets his match in the form of a tiny blue haired ball of fire- an artist who delivers her scathing messages to this billionaire with a bang via explicit graffiti of HIM plastered on buildings all around New York City. OMG, I was dying thinking of the visuals of this! Ella sure knew how to get her point across and was the perfect antagonistic foil to poke this kind of grouchy bear! I loved her spunky attitude.

This was a smile inducing, steamy instalove romance from an author who I've really been enjoying the hell out of this year. The book, Grumpaholic, was almost like a hot alpha romcom- is that even a thing? I've been living inside Jagger Cole's dark Mafia romance world for months now, happily devouring as many books as I could. But then found this one and wondered- what he could do with this kind of story??

Jagger Cole just made me love him even more for showing me another side of his already addictive writing style. It was a fun change of pace, but still had his signature wit, interesting and entertaining characters, a worthy storyline and ton of heart packed into it. I don't often write reviews for books I read for pleasure only, but this book made my day and I had to share it.

help that book was just "we're together!" "nvm we're broken up" "we're back together!" over and over and over again an impressive amount of times for a book with <200 pages.

also all the times they just randomly started having sex and like when she didnt want it at the beginning like that was rape girl

omg hes so kind and generous he decided not to demolish the nursing home full of vulnerable old ppl who would be homeless if that happened (but he only did that basically to get in some girls pants) like he couldnt even have a conscience on his own, everything he does is calculated and he'll only care about other peoples well beings if it benefits him.

Made it to 15% and was already fed up with her, when he's supposed to be the bad guy.
Stupid and immature that about sums her up. Her antics are neither funny nor even remotely helpful or thought-provoking. More like plain and simple juvenile.

The writing style itself didn't help either. Always with her "sultry" eyes. Once was bad enough, but repeatedly?! Or his "dark black" hair. Well, it's obviously not gonna be "light black" hair. I know, I know, I'm nitpicking I just hate stuff like that that makes no sense whatsoever..
Like she thinks he's s a cold-hearted, life-destroying bastard and yet gets all hot and bothered the minute she meets him? She's just publicly humiliated him - twice! and destroyed a suit that he's wearing with spray paint! in the process and all he can do is lust after her?

I know this is supposed to be OTT, but come on!

Doesn't make any sense. A huge building and in one night she can tag a self portrait of this man sucking a dick. The author understands nothing about actual graffiti. This isn't some stick done drawing; it's a top notch skilled master piece, done in the dark by a street light. Then the next day after she gets fired she whips out a can and sprays a dick and balls on him so fast he couldn't react. WTF! This isn't slightly believable.
Smutathon
First page:
The likeness is uncanny. The face is me alright, only far larger than life and in spray paint across the side of the building. Same eyes. Same jaw. Same hair. The fuckers even got my ears right. They got every detail down like little vandal Michelangelos.
Every detail except for one small alteration: in real life, I don't actually have a dick the size of a sports sedan halfway down my fucking throat.

4 &1\2fabulous 🌟s funny, sexy and passionate

This was a fun fabulous read. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites💖 what do you get when a very grumpy , ruthless business man meets a younger, headstrong artist ? Fireworks !!!! That's what you get. Ella, has her reasons for hating Cormac she just never dreamed she could be attracted so completely to someone she doesn't like. Cormac is a self made millionaire to destroys some people's dreams and builds new ones for others. He's hard ruthless and all work and no play until he meets Ella. His who!e world changes co!or explodes and passion ignited hotter than any fire either has ever come across. I love it ! I enjoyed the characters , the banter and the smoking hot passion🔥🔥 can't wait to read more!

This one’s a bit different—a painter and a grumpy real estate billionaire? I’m all in! The hero is this big, grumpy jerk, and honestly, he’s not your typical guy. He’s just the kind of mean guy you love to hate and hate to love. He’s hot headed and such an ASSHOLE hero, but I freaking adore him. 🥰 After their first meeting, he gets totally obsessed with the heroine, but he’s still kind of a bad guy since he wants to demolish the nursing home where her grandfather lives.

As the story goes on, their chemistry really heats up, and it’s so satisfying to watch. Spoiler alert: he doesn’t end up demolishing the nursing home, and they get their happy ending, which I loved. Jagger Cole delivered a seriously hot, steamy romance here, and it’s worth the read if you’re into that!

In Grumpaholic, Jagger Cole delivers a hilarious and steamy tale that captures the chaotic romance between Ella, a rebellious artist known for her provocative graffiti, and Cormac, the city’s most loathed developer. Their initial clash is electric, setting the stage for a playful and unexpected job offer that turns their lives upside down. This story is masterfully blends humor with sizzling chemistry, making their banter as entertaining as the plot twists. This book is a fun ride filled with laughter and passion, perfect for readers looking for a lighthearted escape. Definitely worth the read for fans of romantic comedy!

Only peeve is the “snarling”. Found my head changing up those words to stop my brain flashing an image of some bad actor in a loincloth trying to be a lion.

Everything else is brilliant. I laughed, I kept turning those pages and devoured this in a matter of hours. The characters were solid. I’m not bothered that it was shorter than I’d normally read, everything was there where it needed to be.

This is now in my “ready to re read” collection because it’s a nice fun read I’ll return to in my “tween books funk” cycles 🤣.

This author though… 💋🤌🏼 fantabulous.

Ella hates Cormac with a fire that burns like no other and she's on a mission to destroy his reputation. She spray paints him on various murals around the city with obscene graphics attached. He finally catches her red-handed and makes her the deal of a lifetime to avoid jail time. He pays her to paint him a mural in his conference room. It's the biggest project of Ella's life and her heart comes with the price. Hot and steamy, smoldering at times, the angst was like none other!

Heroine was an immature criminal who acted like she was a teen. The first act of vandalism? Funny and acceptable. But the follow up antics? Ugh, no. The couple had no real emotional development and it felt very instalove (or should I say instalust?). Not the author’s best work. I much prefer the _____ Hearts series.

When Cormac finds out Ella is the one who spray painted unflattering things about him on billboards he sets out to ruin her...until he actually meets her and realises he can't fight his feelings for her. And so he hires her to do a mural for his office and they enter into a very fun bose/employee relationship which was just a fun time all round

annoying heroine

I love Jagger Cole books. This heroine is just too much for me. She’s too immature, blaming everything and everyone else. First time I actually hoped for the hero to end up with another woman 😂.. I just can’t take her brand of crazy, so had to go to the end to leave a review.

Not as good as the others

I'm reading my way through all of Jagger Cole's books and while this one was good, the plot was a little weak for me. I would have liked to know more backstory on Cormac. Plenty of heat and chemistry and a fast read.

Ella has been painting pornographic graffiti around town of the city's largest and most hated developer until she gets caught by said developer, Cormac, and he offers her a job. From the moment these two meet, sparks fly in this sexy and hilarious read.

DNF at 50%…I couldn’t connect with either of the characters. Ridiculous storyline. I’m probably in the minority but I didn’t find it funny at all and I’m afraid this author seems to produce the same sex scenes in all his books….boring!

The art at the end didn’t really make sense to me. Either that or my brain was too tired to make sense of it
