Ghost of an Enchantment is book 2 in the Wickwood Chronicles series but can easily be read as a standalone. I adored this book and enjoyed stepping into the world McDonald created. The reader is captivated from page one, eagerly caught up in the brewing romance between Lucas and Stella, and then, of course, the paranormal intrigue! Stella was so phenomenally written that it felt like I would be friends with her in real life, and of course, she was perfect with Lucas. Lucas is a hero that is sure

In Ghost of an Enchantment, author-to-watch J.E. McDonald delights with with a charming sequel to her debut, Ghost of a Gamble. With this second installment of the Wickwood Chronicles series, the author once again transports us to a world of whimsy, magic, and heart, all delightfully rendered in a sweetly enchanting voice. The story was so visually rich, and the telling of it so perfectly cozy, that I easily pictured every scene as a movie unfolding on the page.

“Ghost of an Enchantment” by JE McDonald is the second installment in her delightful “Wickwood Chronicles” paranormal romance series, which tends a little more to the romantic side of the plot than the supernatural background. The series consists of different closings in themselves paranormal romantic mysteries. The stories are highly entertaining, easy-to-read, fast-paced, funny, with a very good plot, interesting twists, and credible, delightful characters.

I realized when I started reading Ghost of an Enchantment that I have a thing for characters that are clueless. Actually beyond clueless when it comes to the existence of the unexplained. To be honest, I probably realized it before I read Ghost of an Enchantment, but Lucas and his adamance against anything that couldn’t be explained by anything outside the norm reinforced it.
Lucas and Stella are drawn together regardless of how hard they try to deny it – and they tried really hard. Fate had diff ...more

First and foremost, I'm going to acknowledge that I was provided an ARC of Ghost of an Enchantment in exchange for an honest review. I was so happy to receive this book because I read book one of the Wickwood Chronicles and loved it.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This book definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Stella doesn't know why things are getting bad like her customers dropping her web services. On top of this she is concerned about her grandmother. When she meets her friend Aubrey at the local bar she feels attracted to a man's energy. Aubrey gives her an early birthday present of a pendant necklace that gives her a nice energy feel. Later Aubrey calls

Page-turning, action-packed with unexpected twists and a will-they-or-won't-they couple you will definitely want to see get together.
The second is set in the same fictional town with a soon-to-be couple that we met in the first book. I always prefer when I've already "met" the characters. The heroine is a witch, the hero a cop. It's less rom-com and more steamy paranormal with a little angst. The main characters work together to solve a supernatural problem plaguing the town and find it is much ...more

I LOVED this second installment for the Wickwood Chronicles! McDonald busts this world wide open and brings it to new heights and dimensions. She easily navigates blending in all of the different plot points and relationships (romantic, family, and friendship) together into a fun and "enchanting" story. I loved learning more about Stella's magic, and McDonald wove it into how it effects her relationships and the romance so well, and it made me get attached to her all the more. Lucas is a complet

Ghost of an Enchantment, Wickwood Chronicles Book 2, J. E. McDonald
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: Sci-fi and fantasy, Mystery and Thrillers, Romance
This was a fun read but for me a light one. It lacked the depth to really keep me engrossed.
I did like the characters, and the attraction between Lucas and Stella, but felt he was very ready to accept the explainable.

In Ghost of an Enchantment, the second installment of The Wickwood Chronicles, J.E. McDonald continues to weave a rich and colourful environment full of engaging characters and steamy paranormal romance. The book is an emotional romp that shows the importance of deep personal and family connections and is an entertaining read that is hard to put down.

Although I hadn't read Ghost of a Gamble, #1 in the series, I slipped right into this great series.
Small town Witch Stella has a lot on her plate. Her Grandmother's dementia, looking after her home, the business she runs with her bestie and now the financial mess she seems to have found herself in. Things are going a bit..weird, even by Stella's standards. The bank have somehow managed to get their hands on her Grandmothers house and are threatening to sell it! Stella is a witch who doesn’t trust cops-Lucas is a cop who doesn’t know about magic; but they are instantly drawn to each other. This was a decent read. Lots of characters and many magical things happening. I did feel Stella rushed from one event to the next without too much thought over what happened or why. Her friend opened a portal to another dimension, ok, slide a table over the scorch marks and go visit grandma. Her car stops and she senses something is watching her? Ok, just leave the ca ...more

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I requested an ARC of this book. It certainly wasn’t what I got. I was blown away by this story. Stella is a witch who can sense and feel energy. Lucas is a policeman who has always discounted the unusual until he meets Stella and sees some floating books.
Lucas’ energy draws Stella to him from the beginning.
Stella has some big problems she is facing and I couldn’t really relax into the story until she starts to share the burden. The last 1/3 was very inten ...more

I completely enjoyed this book.
In spite of the fact that it is part of a sequel and I didn't read the first I found it quite captivating and I was able to follow the story line very well.
This is a sort of modern day paranormal romance filled with boundless twists and turns and chuck full of many intriguing moments. Even though it is not listed as comedy there were some moments that tickled my funny bone.

A charming couple with some supernatural thrills and chills to keep you on the edge of your seat, this is a winner. Though the second in a series, there is no need to read the first one to understand this one—I didn’t—and there is a satisfying amount of world building to get a glimpse of the paranormal world that exist parallel and with our world.
