Joyce Meyer can do no wrong in my eyes. I love her teachings, her books, and I could listen to her all day long. I love the fact that Joyce Meyer is so down to earth, and relates many of her circumstances in life with us. She doesn’t try to pretend that she’s perfect, and that’s why I find her so relatable.
In this newest release, the pages are filled with how to be your unique, authentic self. We should also aim to please God and ourselves before others (when you are a people pleaser like myself that can be hard to do).
I am glad that I own a physical copy of this book so that I can flip through certain chapters and verses from time to time when I feel the need.
If you are a fan of Joyce Meyer as I am, then I highly recommend this book. I also hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

I am a big fan of Joyce Meyer! I have read so many of her books! And "Authentically, Uniquely You" was another literary Home-Run! The chapters are short and easy to read. She had an entire chapter on Failure as she gave examples of Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney and Milton Hershey (to name a few) who struggled in life only to come out victorious. In this book, she talks about rejection, self-images, approval and the importance of not comparing yourself to others. I read through her other book "Approval Addiction", which is similar to these chapters, but "Authentically, Uniquely You" definitely adds more to its pages with Joyce challenging the reader to: like yourself just the way you are! She even walks through the four types of temperaments (citing "Spirit-Controlled Temperament" by Tim LaHaye) so you can figure out your personality type as well as get to know the types of people around you so that you can interact with them on their level. She has a chapter on Control and how to deal with a controlling person. She talks about how to not be a people pleaser. Joyce shares about her past, her marriage and even mentions that when she was about to speak about her sexual abuse for the very first time, she actually told her father she was going to be open to the public about what happened. Her stories about his reaction and more about her upbringing are very interesting! She adds Bible Verses at the end of the book about God's love and showing love to others. I can go on and on...but long story short...another Fantastic book by Joyce Meyer!

Why do we try to be like other people, Meyer asks, when there is so much value in our uniqueness? She suggests it is because we fear others will not accept us. She encourages us to believe that God made each of us with unique traits and abilities and that one aspect of the freedom Jesus came to offer us is the freedom to be and enjoy who we are.
Unlike many other books on being authentic, Meyer grounds her teaching in the Bible. She establishes the foundation that God loves us. We need to learn to love ourselves. That doesn't mean we love everything we do but we love who we are in Christ. It is the answer to our desire for approval. And in case we have difficulty accepting God's love for us, there is an Appendix with confirming Scriptures.
Meyer helps us understand who we are in Christ and helps us avoid the trap of focusing on what other people think. She gives practical suggestions for developing a new mindset and overcoming fear, helps us understand we are to aim to please God, not people, and much more.
The teaching from Meyer that had the most impact on me was that I can be guided by God. God has gifted me to fit into His perfect plan. I cannot let other people tell me what to do with my life. And even if I miss it, God will find me and lead me on.
This book is grounded in biblical truth and is a great one for people who want to accept their uniqueness, be the person God wants them to be, and have the courage to follow their heart. As Meyer says, you owe it to yourself to be the best version you can be of yourself.

When I was younger, like most young people, I just wanted to fit in. I wanted to be liked and to be like the "cool" people. Over the years, I have gotten better at being my own person. Authentically, Uniquely You by Joyce Meyer is the book that I really needed when I was in my late teens and early twenties. It was still good read now with a lot of good information and helpful reminders.
Authentically, Uniquely You is divided into three parts: Believing the best about yourself, Finding the freedom to be yourself, and Moving Forward as the real you. Meyer's advice is practical and down-to-earth. I always appreciate her writing because she is so honest about her own struggles. She also bases her thinking on the Bible. If you want to do your own studying after reading this book, Appendix A lists fifty Scriptures that affirm God's love for you and Appendix B lists fifty Scripture that will empower you to love others. This book was more in depth than the last couple of books from her. Authentically, Uniquely You is full of a lot of helpful advice and could be encouraging to a person who needs it.

Being your authentic self is more important than ever. Joyce Meyer's addresses this topic admis a time in my life where I feel that I am losing myself to people opinions and losing my confidence due to peoples highlight real. She also addresses people pleasing through her own examples of her life and how she started to overcome it through the love of God and his word.
Loved how she approached this topic and addressed the issues. She gave a lot of hope and through her example was able to show that it can be done.

This was informative and thought provoking. However, the author seemed to be repetitive with the points she was trying to make. She gave new examples, or life experiences each time she came back to a topic/point.
I listened to the audio book and it was read by the author so it was like a friend who is having a conversation across the table from you. A friend who wants to make sure you get the point she’s trying to make so she keeps hammering it home.
The book had many good points and is worth reading or listening to.

Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc. If you are in need of a biblical pick me up, then this book is for you. All of the things that go along with being a person, comparing, and needing to please this book helps in so many ways. I very much think those who struggle with comparison and anxiety/depression will find this scripture filled book a help to you.

I really enjoyed this book. I think you could read the book multiple times and learn something different each time. Joyce is down to earth in her teaching. I like that she uses her own personal stories to use as examples. I have read a few of her books and enjoyed all of them.

This is classic Joyce Meyer. If you love her other works and messages then I am sure you will love this. If you don't, you won't. Personally, I'm ambivalent.
In AUY, Joyce Meyer addresses a series of topics relating to self image. Each chapter will deal with a topic like authenticity, making comparisons, seeking approval, dealing with failure, forgiving yourself, etc. There might have been a minor point here or there I could nitpick, but on the whole, what she has to say is pretty solidly biblical.
My issue isn't with that as much as it is with her personality and style. Maybe others don't see it the same way, but it seems to me an awful lot like JM is really just using these topics as a means to talk about herself. It seems like every chapter is 20% this is what the topic is, 20% this is what the Bible says, and 60% this is what it looks like in my life. If I were pulling this book from the autobiography or memoir section that would be fine. But in a book labeled Christian teaching I would prefer a little more from the Bible, a little more from the abundance of past or present church wisdom, and a little less of JM talking about herself.

Utterly transformative and exactly what I needed to read at this time in my life. Joyce Meyers writes with a relatable voice and made me want to dive into scripture deeper. Exploring some of the scripture she mentioned in different sections has completely opened my eyes and heart to verses I’ve probably heard a thousand times, but never applied to myself. Our uniqueness and individuality is such an awesome, incredible gift from God!

One of my favorite Joyce meyer/ Christian books I’ve read!! This brought me so much inspiration, revelation and knowledge about myself and the world and my savior. I looove this book! I listened to the audio, which was great listening to the author read it herself! She’s amazing and always writes in a very personal and relatable way. I’ll need to buy the actual printed book to have on my shelf

I really loved this book! I could relate to it on almost all levels! obviously I still need to work on myself and not comparing myself to others, not trying to please others, and be happy with who I am because God doesn't make mistakes! But this gave me great ways to work on myself!!

Worth a read, especially if you’re a Christian that struggles with self-esteem and/or comparison. Joyce rounds it up and breaks it down into bite-sized pieces. Very clear and Scripture-based. Probably nothing you haven’t heard before but well put together and worth repeating.

According to gods design, no one person is precisely like anyone else.
Being able to love yourself is the key to much joy, peace and confidence in life.
There is such freedom in learning to be happy with who you are without being jealous of someone else’s skills or achievements.
Usually when people are miserable, they resent those who are joyful.
We all have areas in which we truly need to change, but only god can change us.
The way you view yourself matters, and it affects everything about your life, so developing a healthy, godly self image is extremely important.
Gods word teaches us not to do our good deeds so that people will witness them or for recognition or earthly praise.
Our motives are very important to god. He isn’t as interested in what we do as he is in why we do it.
Always do what you say you will do, be honest in every way, tell the truth, walk in integrity, and be excellent!!
Pure heart is another way of saying authentic.
Proverbs 28:13 teaches us that people who try to conceal their sin will not prosper.
To god - what matters most is the motive behind the action.
Don’t ever believe anything bad that you hear about everyone unless 2 or 3 reliable witnesses verify it.
In order to be your unique self, you must be willing to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit that you sense in your heart rather than always looking to other people to tell you what to do ✨✨✨
When we fail or fall down, as long as we keep getting back up and trying again, god will keep working with us.
It is important to believe that something good will come out of our challenges.
Help people find their own path in life instead of pressuring them to walk your path.
What you believe is your reality, whatever you think you are is what you will become.
Accept gods correction with appreciation, knowing that he corrects you only because he loves you.
If you step out in faith in obedience to god, he will guide you one step at a time.
The important point to remember is that even if we are not naturally qualified to do something specific, god can qualify us with his anointing if doing it is his will for us.
Joyce - we did hundreds of meetings of fewer than 100 people, but I prepared and taught as though there were 10 thousand people in attendance.
If you never give up, you will eventually find your sweet spot. As you search for it, remember that failing at something doesn’t make you a failure.
The quality of your life partially depends on the type of relationship you have with yourself.
If you have repented of your sins, no matter what they were, god has forgiven you and forgotten what you did.
I have learned that if I don’t get what I want, god must have something better in mind. ✨✨✨
I have heard that 10% of all people won’t like us no matter who are or what we do, so why would we focus on the few who don’t, when 90% do?

We should never sacrifice our authenticity to gain the approval of other people.
🚨 A major way that god speaks to us and guides us is by the presence of absence of peace. When peace is present, it is a yes from god, and when it is absent, it is a no from him. The Bible says that we should let peace be the “umpire” in our life, deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise.
It is interesting how often people try to get you to like what they like and cannot understand why you don’t. The reason is that you are a unique individual and are free to follow your desires without apologizing for them.
🚨You are valuable to god for who you are, not for what you do.
We should celebrate 🎉 our differences rather than wishing we we’re like someone else.
Learning to accept people and help them feel valuable is one of the best gifts we can give them. As I have heard and repeated many times, people don’t always remember what we said to them, but they do remember how we made them feel.
My father had a responsibility to break the cycle of abuse and control in which HE was raised, but I don’t even know if he understood why he was the way he was, nor do I think he cared. (Dad)
In order for people to change, they must want to change.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you regarding when to confront a situation and when to wait.
Never confront anyone without having first asked god to prepare the person a heart so they will sincerely listen to what you have to say, and pray that you will speak wisely and calmly.

If we need to be noticed, appreciated, and applauded every time we do an act of kindness, then we are insecure people pleasers rather than god pleasers. 🚨🚨🚨
If I say yes to someone’s request when my heart is screaming no, then I am not being true to myself.
If we say yes to people too often, we begin to resent them for taking advantage of us.
Ask for gods help when you’re dealing with someone - need to be honest but don’t want to hurt their feelings.
An extremely difficult aspect of leadership is knowing that no mater what decision you make, some prior probably won’t like it.
Researchers found that the same areas of our brain light up in an MRI machine when we experience rejection as when we experience physical pain.
God loves us unconditionally ✨
Integrity - a person with integrity sees no difference between their behavior and what their inmost being approves of.
They are always honest. They keep their word.
I now know that when I say I will do something, god expects me to do it, and he expects the same from you.
🚨✨ god doesn’t bless sloppiness or laziness, but he does bless excellence and integrity.
Let me encourage you to do everything with all of your heart, knowing that god is watching, and so is the world.
When people have a pure heart, they believe the best of others instead of being negative, suspicious, critical, and judgmental.

The Bible teaches us in multiple places when we go to heaven, we will receive rewards based on the works we have done.
Jesus calls us to live selfless lives, thinking not about ourselves but about others.
Jesus says that if we will come to him when we are weary, he will give us rest for our souls.
A true believer will occasionally commit sin, but he doesn’t Make a habit of it.

Counterfeit Christian - say one thing and may even instruct others in certain ways, but they do something else themselves. They are hypocritical.
I have learned that people who claim to be Christian’s may look good, but we never really know what’s inside them until they are squeezed (put under pressure) or tested (meaning that we have personal experience with them).
If we want to walk in love 😍, we should focus on what we can do in order to be a blessing to others.
The only way we can love others is to receive gods love for ourselves.

True confidence doesn’t begin with confidence in ourselves but with confidence in god.

Be content where you are, and enjoy where you are, but never stop wanting to grow and give god more and more glory through the work you do with him.
Trust that he has given you abilities that are unique and that you are unrepeatable, one of a kind child of god.
When we become jealous of another persons position due to lack of confidence and insecurity, we make ourselves miserable trying to be something we are not and can never be.
God used plenty of people who did not feel their natural abilities qualified for what he called them to do, but when they found in him the confidence to step out in faith, they did great and mighty things, and so will you.

I have learned that people who claim to be Christian’s may look good, but we never really know what’s inside them until they are squeezed (put under pressure) or tested (meaning that we have personal experience with them).
If we want to walk in love 😍, we should focus on what we can do in order to be a blessing to others.
The only way we can love others is to receive gods love for ourselves.

I picked up this book because I've been working on comparison, and assumed that's what this book would be about since it's in the title. I was super disappointed to only find one chapter out of 20+ in this book to be about that. it felt very repetitive, and not therefore not that insightful, and of course very christian and bible based (which I should have guessed at since it's written by joyce meyer). her writing style is also very to the point, with examples of "you should do this, you should not do this" but with no real advice on how exactly not to do those things. ok at best.

Isn't it the truth! Meyer hits the nail on its head in her book Authentically, Uniquely You! She writes about authenticity and being comfortable in your own skin.
Do we struggle to be like so and so? Or, are we striving to be who God wants us to be - uniquely me!
One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is acceptance. Joyce does a wonderful job laying out the Biblical reasons to loving one self.
Highly recommended for anyone who struggles with comparison and non-acceptance.

Love this book! In a time where social media controls our perceptions and push their ideas into our feeds; we need to be awake and alert so we fulfill our divine purpose by staying true to ourselves.

There were some great one liners in this book, and overall, it’s a great reminder that we have to be true to ourselves. The idea that stuck with me the most is when she said that when we try to be like everyone else we are being disrespectful to God who took the time to craft us each uniquely.

In Authentically, Uniquely You, Joyce Meyer has written a brand-new book about learning to love yourself and to embrace our unique self. She shared how the first step is learning to love who we are and this will help us on our path to becoming authentic. She explored how scriptures teaches us that we are supposed to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and this is shown at least eight times in the Bible. She goes on to explain how if we don’t love ourselves then we are rejecting God’s love for us. This will also prevent us from loving others. She personally shared how she struggled with loving others and God finally revealed to her how she didn’t love herself in a healthy way. After over 40 years of not liking who she was, she spent a whole year studying and confessing God’s love for herself. She admitted how she was a people pleaser and she struggled with being manipulated by others. She opened up about we need to follow first Peter 3:11 and we are instructed to pursue peace and seek it with God, our neighbors, and with ourselves.
She also shared the power of rejection and how if we reject ourselves, this will greatly affect our lives. This will also cause to act out in ways that will confirm our beliefs that they will in fact reject us. She explained how fear will cause us to lose our authenticity when we are desperately trying to please them and make them happy. She described her childhood and growing up with a father who was very controlling. He had to control the house, the TV, what time they were expected to be in bed and woke up, the meals they would eat, and who their friends could be. She revealed how this damaged her self image and led her to not be satisfied. She stated how we need to rely on what God says about us and not on what others have told us who we are. She listed a few scriptures such as, “apple of His eye, chosen by Him, special, chosen people, royal priesthood, His love is everlasting”, and much more.
I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to love themselves and they are tired of trying to be everything to everyone else. I immensely loved how Joyce taught on countless principles and included scriptures to back up how we can become our authentic self. I also loved how she looked at a list that we can reflect on to accept ourselves. One of my favorite scriptures passages she explored was the one on Numbers 13:17-33 and the twelve spies and their grasshopper mentally and how Joshua and Caleb chose instead to see the giants in the land differently than anyone else. They were the only two who knew that with God’s help they could overcome them. I also loved how she included a list of 100 verses in the back of the book on affirming God’s love for yourself and others.

"God loves you unconditionally and accepts you totally, and you should not try to perform or pretend for anyone in order to gain their approval or acceptance."
There is so much in this world that will lead us astray from being ourselves. Many people hide behind social media, they only show the good happening in their lives, not the bad. As followers of these accounts we see this and think the poster's life is perfect, when in reality nobody's life is perfect. In this modern age we forget what it is to be unique, we strive to be like everybody else when God has created us to stand out. We need to be authentic to ourselves, to be our true self we need to take a step back and look at our life and how we are living it. We need to get into God's Word and see what He says about us.

We need to take a step back and see what we do, what others see us do. How do we act? Do our actions follow our words? God has a plan for our life, it is for us to reach out and grab, all we have to do is believe. It takes belief in God to then turn and believe in yourself. We don't need to compare ourselves to anyone, for we were made to stand out, we were made to be unique, and we can be authentic when we realize this. I want my actions to follow my words. I had the book, “Authentically, Uniquely You…” by Joyce Meyer in my bookcase for over a year. I didn’t think I needed to read it. After all, when you reach a certain age, you believe you know yourself and you have become genuine. Wow! Was I ever wrong.
By the time I was only halfway through, I had discovered over and over how little I genuinely know about being true to myself. This coming from a recovering people-pleaser workaholic, who thought I had dealt with the issue. Back to the drawing board of not performing, so others will accept me. This book was a huge step in the right direction of accepting myself flaws and all, and celebrating my God-given uniqueness.

June 15, 2025For context, I needed this book for the parts pertaining to people pleasing, so once I received that information-I skimmed others to see if they were saying anything new or different before I concluded reading. Not saying that I perfected the other areas, but I recently read other books that addressed those topics that I needed. This book does a great job of helping you understand how people pleasing is self sabotaging and selfish, even though we may think it is to please others. Mrs. Joyce did a great job breaking down the difference and the behavior styles involved with everything. I specifically enjoyed the chapters she dived in deep with these topics. For someone who is new to the Christian faith, this book could serve as an all in one. Chapters toward the back started to drift a little from the main topic for me and became slightly repetitive. Understanding there's a word count requirement with books, I don't blame the the authors for repetition at the midway or end point of the book, so I just expect it and move on.
