I was hesitant in picking up this book as it's not my usual read - I generally prefer to stay in the realm of fiction. However color me surprised when I started reading and found it formatted as a fictional story that follows our main character, Rory Langford, on his journey to reevaluate what he wants to do with his life in the career department with the help of his mentor, C.J. The author writes it so that when C.J. is sharing advice to Rory, it is much like she's giving a step-by-step plan to you. And what Rory does with this information can be used as examples to follow. It was clever how C.J. would mention forwarding an email, or a chart, or Rory would mention taking notes and at the end of the chapter that information would be plainly listed - almost in a way that breaks the fourth wall. I found myself following the things mentioned and feeling abruptly inspired to do so without realizing it until later. Although it wasn't necessarily my genre, I will definitely be following the advice listed throughout.

This is the perfect book for anyone wanting to discover what they want to do in life. Whether a high school student thinking about what’s next or a mid-30’s professional pondering a career change, I can’t think of a better book to help in that journey. Tyler Lafferty blends a wealth of personal experience and a valuable framework to put together a book that is both inspiring and incredibly practical. Because it is also a parable following the life of Rory, a college student who is floundering in discovering his purpose, it is an easy read that packs a punch. There are timeless truths and invaluable nuggets of wisdom tucked into these pages, and I hope more and more people can use this resource as they discover their own calling. The world needs a critical mass of people to be MORE like themselves instead of what they world thinks they should be. Lafferty is helping in that cause.

I wasn’t sure I’d read the whole book when I started it...but after a few pages I was hooked. The simple style was easy to follow and really made me think. I already have had a great discussion with my son, a high school senior. I’ve also been thinking about how it applies to my own life. It would be great for high school/college age students to read- but that can be easier said than done! Reading it as a parent gives some tools to use as guidance for your own children, OT students. I highly recommend.

I'd say this is a great book for high school and college students entering the next phase of their lives. It's also good for those who are maybe feeling stuck in their current profession.
