A heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again.

After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.

In book 15 in the series, it's time for the annual clam bake weekend which promises to bring not only new guests to know and love but a mystery to solve and an important decision to make.

Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

In this installment, there is a Clambake weekend. Well-written and lots going on in this story. There were plenty of twists to keep me guessing. I really enjoy the characters and the setting in this story.

The Clue in the Clam is a great addition to the Inn at Holiday Bay series.
Aside from the usual gang at the inn, and the guests with their interesting stories, Abby is expecting a short-term guest that she has been looking forward to meeting, Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist who had known Abby’s late husband, Ben.
The quaint little seacoast town of Holiday Bay, Maine is hosting its annual clam bake with a murder mystery dinner, catered by Abby’s business partner and best friend Georgia.
A phone call from the theater company who is putting on the murder mystery portion of the event sends Georgia, Abby, Jeremy, Colt and Tanner out to take pictures of the island where the clam bake is to be held just in time to discover a dead body.
There is plenty more mystery to be found in this book, along with a bit or romance and lots of friendship and fun. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, so I will just say that it is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it.

Another entertaining and intriguing mystery by Ms. Daley. These characters are so well developed now that every time I read a new addition to this series I feel like I'm visiting old friends. The plot is quickly paced, the twists and turns kept me guessing and I didn't have a clue as to who was behind the murders until the dramatic reveal.

Clue in the Clam Earns 4.5/5 Clam-Conundrums...Entertaining Fun!

Clam-tastic! Kathi Daley has done well with the fifteenth book in her Inn at Holiday Bay series with an inn full of guests. Abby Sullivan and her BFF Georgia are also making the final arrangements on an exciting murder mystery and clambake event. To include more participants, the event was moved from the Inn to a nearby island, and serving a gourmet clambake per Georgia and enjoying a fun evening of mystery organized by a local theatre group has made it highly anticipated. A last minute request by the theatre group for photos of the island has Abby and Colt and Georgia and Tanner planning a double date. However, the discovery of a dead body on the beach, oddly posed, and holding a curious clue is an obstacle for which they didn’t plan. Then, more bodies, posed suspiciously in a public manner, cause Abby and Colt to team up with ex-CIA forensic psychologist, Sydney Whitmore. Her profile is a worrisome...the killer is local!

The multiple murder mystery is clever and woven in and out of several intriguing side stories: a follow-up on the grave site found on Abby’s property, intriguing stories about an environmental impact research, a relationship triangle, and a controversy over a mega resort project. The crime with a clever details and motive does take a backseat at times when addressing everyday responsibilities and improvements to the Inn, prepping for the upcoming events, and updates on relationships, but nothing too deep to interfere with the main story. Along with more insights into Abby’s late husband, a new character in the Daley universe is introduced with a bit of the premise of the new series; Sydney Whitmore will have her own cozy mystery series, The Resort at Castaway Bay, as a forensic psychologist working with a unique civilian investigative team. Although the first murder was discovered by our Abby and friends, the subsequent discoveries occur off the page along with some of the clues. Clue reviews, scenarios, and wrap ups are often presented when characters get together; more likely this is reality.

Clue in the Clam is the fifteenth book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming The Inn at Holiday Bay series. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The storyline is well plotted, and there are lots of twists and red herrings in the complex mysteries contained within this book. The storyline flows smoothly, and the book is a clean read with a perfect blend of mystery, heartache, joy, and caring with a touch of sweet romance. Every time I pick up one of Ms. Daley’s books, I know I’m in for a treat, and I’ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.

After Abby Sullivan’s lost her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, she moved to Holiday Bay, Maine, opened the Inn at Holiday Bay, made a new life for herself, and found a home and a family. Georgia Carter, who has also overcome obstacles in her life, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager, and she and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, live with Abby, Rufus, a Maine Coon, and Molly, a terrier mix, in a cottage on the property. Georgia’s cable cooking show, Cooking with Georgia, is doing well. Jeremy Slater, who lives in the inn’s basement apartment with his young niece, Annabelle, is a valuable asset who helps with the inn’s day-to-day operations.

Holiday Bay is preparing for their annual Clam Bake week. Abby and Georgia decided to have the inn’s murder mystery dinner and clam bake on a private island owned by Belmont Salinger. After Georgia is contacted by a representative of the theater group about needing photographs of the island, Tanner agrees to use his boat to make a trip to the island. Georgia invites Abby and Colt to join them, and they make plans to go out to dinner afterward. Unfortunately, their plans change when Abby comes upon the body of a local town councilman, Oliver Halifax. As Police Chief Colt Wilder investigates, he and Abby uncover secrets harbored by several local residents.

Murder and Mayhem

A lot of action and sort of dubious trails
with lots of people throwing in their 2 cents here and there. Four murders in a couple of days in a sleepy town, just a little too much.

The annual clam bake brings new guests to the inn and a mystery to solve. It would also give Abby to make a decision that she needs to make.

A murder mystery dinner will turn deadly for someone as Abby will look for a killer.

A fun read in the series as we watch her grow.

Clue in The Clam ( The Inn at The Holiday Bay #15 )
BY: Kathi Daley
Clue in The Clam is book fifteen in the series The Inn at The Holiday Bay. Ms Daley weaves another cozy mystery that keeps getting better and better. Suspense, murder, twist and turns that keeps you turning the pages. Love the story and the characters, both are well written and well developed. A murder mystery in this one keeps Abby and everyone busy as they look for a killer. Can they figure this one out?

I do enjoy this series but this book not as much it seemed to kind of be stuck in place until a little over halfway through in which some of the other characters played parts in it. I prefer to have the secondary characters at least play a small role in the story.

Hmmm. Everyone has given this book five stars and I'm only giving it three. Am I a "Debbie Downer" or what? I absolutely love Kathi Daley and her cozy mysteries and they provide me with the respite I need to have a couple hours of fun reading with characters I know and love. I really have enjoyed all of her books, but maybe I'm getting a little tired of them? I don't know.

But, for me, I found myself skimming over large parts of the book. There was just so much repetitive conversation and I just get so tired of it. I mean, Abbey will discuss something with Georgia, who will then discuss it with Lacy, who will then discuss it with Colt and, well, you get what I mean? I am intelligent enough to remember the details of a conversation from five pages back.

Also, it seems as though there is a lot of extraneous information that has nothing to do with the plot of the book. For example, long conversations with Sydney about her work finding serial killers that don't have anything to do with Holiday Bay seems like page filler.

Finally, the mystery is all wrapped up so quickly at the end of the book and it just is done in a way that isn't interesting or exciting, but seems as if the author just wants to finish the book. I don't know. For me, this was not the best work by Kathi Daley.

The main points in this read:

1. Christy’s ex-boyfriend Rodney wants to get back together with her, except she is engaged to Pastor Noah now. Conflict ensues.
2. Body found by Colt on the Inn’s local island.
3. A second and third body found murdered in the same fashion as the first.
4. Possible serial killer that Colt must work quickly to find before there are more victims.
5. Expanding the Inn.
6. Taking the next step in Colt and Abby’s relationship - he wants her to spend time with his niece and nephew since Colt is thinking of Abby as being part of his family.

I’d also like to add that this book was really detailed and had a lot of depth to it due to there being multiple murders (4 in 4 days). There was a lot of digging into the background of the victims. Two new people who will probably be involved in the next couple of books were introduced: Sydney, a forensic psychologist and Bev, a hacker. Both the ladies helped obtain info on the killings. Sydney did profiling on the unknown suspect.

Like all previous 14 books, most of the mysteries have been solved, but also like the previous, the next book will have answers to the rest.

Next book is The 16th of 18. The Inn at Holiday Bay: Portent in the Pages.

Great book!!!!

I really love this series!!!!!
As Abby and Georgia are.planning the final touches for the Clam Bake and Murder Mystery on Salinger Island.
They have to go take pictures for the performers in the Murder Mystery, cause Georgia got a last minute call so Tanner, Georgia, Abby and Colt take the boat across and dock to explore the Island, Tanner and Georgia went one way and Abby and Colt went the other.
When Abby calls out to say she found Oliver Halifax dead with a plastic clam in his hand, A paper inside says "GREED". Colt has to call in back up and this is what starts the mess Holiday Bay has to deal with the WHO and WHY?
Oliver was known to have cheated on an important election for big development project that divided the town, with slot of people not happy.
Well it was enough for someone to take matters into their own hands or not?
You have to get this book because there is a whole lot more to this story!!!!

One of the things I like about the series is how short it is. I also enjoyed Colt and Abby as a couple and I do like knowing new characters in getting to know a little bit more about Abby’s husband Ben. I know losing a loved one Hass to be hard let alone your husband and child but I like how this comes full circle and she’s able to find love again in this book it is the clam bake week and so many events are happening in the new group of people staying at the resort are all interesting. We also need someone been new and had shortly worked with and I can’t think of her name on the top of my head. I hope she does show up more often. Of course there is murder and colt and Abby are the one to find the body almost a 7 deadly sins theme. Since this book is probably much shorter the mystery is always faster. Sometimes I figure out the killer sometimes I don’t. Overall I do enjoy this series.

The Inn at Holiday Bay is hosting a clam bake on the island. During their pre visit; Abby (owner of The Inn); Colt (Local Police Sheriff and Abbys partner): Georgia (manager of The Inn) and Tanner (neighbour of The Inn where he trains defence dogs, and Georgia's parrner); stumble across the body of a local councillor, someone who was behind getting a new, huge, holiday resort built in the area.

While the weekend residents of The Inn need looking after, Colt is trying to find out who killed the man; and when more bodies are found, it becomes imperative the murderer is caught before even more people are killed.

A cosy mystery series, with an underlying story yet to be revealed. Best read in order to preserve continuity of the storyline. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next release.

I don't know how this author does it! She has a number of series out at the same time, yet each book I read in any of the series keeps me turning pages, not wanting to put the book down. This newest book in the Inn at Holiday Bay series is no exception. With each book, she introduces new interesting characters while expanding the main characters. While the "someone found a dead body and we have to figure out who did it" is a central theme for most mysteries, the how, why, who did it and how we figured it out is varied and unique in each book. While having read the previous books in this series isn't necessary to enjoy this book, doing so would help you better understand the relationship between the main characters. Happy reading

It is a full house at the Inn on Holiday Bay as the town celebrates the clam influence and the Inn hosts a murder mystery dinner. Not all the guests have checked in to join the festivities, however.
It is always great to meet new people and catch up with favorite friends and guests from past books.
Abby and staff are figuring out how much to develop and extend the inn property and there is a debated development project for the shoreline. So when a body is discovered on the island where the mystery dinner is going to be held, people speculate about the motive.
Past mysteries are also continued in this book, and romantic elements play a role.
Great story with many emotional elements.

Abby Sullivan moved to Holiday Bay after a personal tragedy. She now owns and helps run a successful inn. In this book, the inn is hosting a clam bake on an island and are over there taking pictures when Abby makes an unwanted discovery.

I love this series and this book is a prime example of why. Kathi Daley writes excellent cozy mysteries and has kept this series fresh with each book. The book's well-written and it'll pull you in from the start. The characters are wonderful and the interaction between them is great as well as believable. I'm really looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which is best when read in order.

Holiday Inn - Clue in the Clam

Abby Sullivan is hosting a clam bake for the Inn during the town’s week long celebration. They get a call from the mystery group that are performing for the bake that they need pictures. It is being held on an island so she and Georgia and their boyfriends head that way. Abby finds a body with a clam shell in his hand saying “greed”. Then they discover the phone call was a hoax and more people die. Is it due to opposition to a new development? Is it the group that some of them belonged to? Is there another reason?
Always well written and well thought out- this author of cozies sets the bar high.

Clue in the Clam is the 15th book in the great The Inn at Holiday Bay cozy mystery series by Kathi Daley. This story takes place in the charming tourist town of Holiday Bay, Maine. Residents and tourists are excited about the upcoming clam bake festivities. The Inn is filled with new and interesting guests. The discovery of a dead body on a trip to a private island to prepare for a murder mystery event, and then the discovery of two more victims, sets Abby and friends on a mission to discover the identity of a serial killer before he claims another victim. This story is fast-paced and engaging, like all of Ms. Daley’s books.

Clues in the Clamshells

As Colt and Abby move closer to their future together someone is murdering the men who attended a retreat together and leaving their hands clutching quotes of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Returning to the innat Holiday Bay is a treat because the characters are always changing and growing. The cop (Colt) is not a bumbler who can't solve the case without help, and Abby is not the perfect crime solver. The inn is always changing because of what Jeremy, Georgia, Lacy, and Lanny bring to the series.

I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to where
they take us next.

I am really drawn to this series. The characters really grow on you and I want to see this through to the end. A planned party on an island reveals a dead body to Abby. Then another body shows up. When the third body appears, Abby is worried there is a serial killer on the lose, following a pattern of deadly sins--will there be 7 deaths? She and her boyfriend Colt team up to put the clues together, enlisting a visiting specialist who deals with serial killers. With her help and another friend, they try to figure out the pattern and who done it before the potential 7 lives are lost.

Interesting murder

I like this series and this book actually tied up some loose ends that were dangling from the beginning of the series. The relationship between Abby and Colt is deepening. The murder aspect started with a bang but I was a bit disappointed with the actual ending when the murderer was revealed. That is why I gave 4 stars vs. 5. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next installment.

Well Ben's cold case..

.. was a huge disappointment.. no real reason why he wouldn't have told Abby so all pretty pointless..

With that falling flat we needed a good strong case and once again we got a damp squib fizzled a bit and then went out.. seven deadly sins? Men's retreat? Big development? Too many connections and too many potential victims.. all stretched a bit too far..

I love this series. Abby, Georgia and the Inn feel like friends. But the books have been getting less good as the series goes on. I keep thinking I’ll give it up but instead I continue to read them.
This one is mostly a set up for a new series by the author, which is really odd.
The mystery was interesting but didn’t seem like the main focus of the story. The clam bake played such a small part of the story.

Good cozy mystery

Each new book that I read in this series gets better. I love the setting in Maine as I am a New Englander and I love the close knit group of friends that have become a family. The mysteries are thought provoking and the books always come to a good conclusion. Overall I love Kathi Daley's style in all of her books.

The Seven Deadly Sins.

Interesting addition to the series. Expansion of the beautiful and small town creates problems leading to very neat Murders. No spoiler alerts but a new way to lead others to sin is in the plot. I enjoy all the details and descriptions of setting, plans and menus.

Inn at Holiday Bay, Clue in the Clam

It’s time for the annual clambake retreat. New guests to meet and a mystery to solve. The clambake and mystery theater will be held on an island. When Abby and Colt go to the island to make sure everything will work out, they find a body that is posed like he’s sleeping and holding a plastic clam with a note inside that says Greed.
