What the HELL has Lance and Leah gotten themselves into by arriving in Traverler's Rest!?
As I continue the stories and darkness of the life of Lance Brody, I realize that this book was the most dark.....maybe hence the title? No. It was THAT well written. And for being over 300+ pages, this was my favorite so far.
Both Lance and Leah were expecting just a good and quiet Christmas holiday/vacation this year, but they are both surprised when they arrive in the town of Traveler's Rest. With the snow piling up, and the house that they rent gets more and more deep in the snow, Lance realizes that his life has meant something completely different than he ever thought before.
One cold morning Leah decides to walk down to the local cafe for a hot breakfast....she was not expecting to meet a local man whose son was gunned down by the town police 10 years earlier. Why? And what is the darkness that is after Lance in a way that is scaring him? Why does he not want to get out of bed? The gore piled up in this 6th book, and it was actually creepy in parts that I will never look at a needle and thread ever the same way again. I cannot wait to get into book 7! Highly recommended.
Another good one in the series. Looking forward to the next. My only pet peeve is the author’s use of unnecessary words such as ‘had’. For example: Leah ‘had’ scanned could be Leah scanned. Were he to go through his manuscript and look for all the ‘hads’, I’m sure he would be able to eliminate 90% of them. I find it very distracting to have so many while reading. The only reason I actually continue to read the books is because I like the characters and the author’s storyline. Would’ve been a five star without the ‘had’ word use, among other unnecessary, overused words.
Absolutely fantastic paranormal adventure with old friends!
I have loved every word of the Lance Brody series. No exception with this one. This one grabs you by the throat and takes you on a paranormal thrill ride from start to finish! I'm really hoping there are more stories coming or maybe a new series with Leah and her new abilities?
I was hooked and couldn’t put the book down until the end. This was the most riveting story yet. A much needed rest and recuperation for Lance sees Leah developing her own special power. The ending is a shock for Lance fans. What will I do now while waiting to find what happens to Lance ? Will he get back and meet up with Leah again?

Just finished "Dark Holiday" and read through it unfortunately in two days. Unfortunate because it means waiting for another book in the series, hopefully soon. The story quickly tied into the series and progressed Lance and Leah's characters and mission.
Wow, what a series of books. I binge read them all. Lance is strange, he can see ghosts and things from the darkside. After his mum is killed trying to save him he travels around the country drawn to the darkness and helping people to get away from it. He has help from different sources. I hope there will be more books.
I often get tired of a series because after a time, seems like the story gets repetitious. NOT with the Lance Brody series! I wait for each new book as eagerly as I await a new Stephen King book! The characters get into your soul, the stories move along without dragging, and each one leaves me with a satisfying ending......even Dark Holiday! Can't wait to see how Lance and Leah handle the Dark!
I'd looked forward to this latest instalment in Lance's journey with great anticipation. Perhaps this is why it didn't quite live up to that. Don't get me wrong it's a great story but it lacks a bit of the spark which drove most of the other stories. It's good to see more of Leah as a developing ally for Lance and I hope this will continue with the next one - which I hope is well in production!
This was really riveting and intense. Very hard to put down even for a minute. Can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next ghostly adventure of Lance and Leah. I hope she catches up with him and they get away from those despicable 3 demons. Great series!!
Lance and Leah are planning for a little rest and some Christmas cheer but it ends up to be anything but that. Ghosts that can’t talk lead Lance into trying resolve more deaths with Leah’s help who is growing stronger with abilities. The cliff hanger ending has me trying to decide if I put aside the next book I wanted to start or dive right into the latest book of the series!
These books are such great reads. So well written and the characters are wonderful. Leah and Lance are special, it’s unexpected but interesting to see how Leah is coming into her own. The story development is fascinating - Cant wait to see the oncoming confrontation. I am straight on to the next book after this. Highly recommended.
I made the rookie mistake of not realizing this was part of a series. BUT!! MRJ does such a great job at giving recaps without it feeling like a "last time on ...." Reminders are given when they're needed in an artistic way. I'm definitely interested in actually reading this full series!! I was captivated and loved this story. 4.5⭐
I have fallen in love with the characters of this series! I’ve read all 6 and the wait seems eternal until another one comes out and this one did not disappoint! The supernatural aspects of this series keeps me coming back for more! Fantastic series!
This book seemed to get off to a slower start than the others in the series. However, it quickly got very interesting and full of suspense and paranormal mystery. The conclusion was a little sad, and I am hoping for a sequel.
Wow these books are so good. I absolutely love them. There’s so much action and suspense. I could not put this down. A few great twists and turns too. I love the way Lance and Leah’s lives are changing. I can’t wait to read the next one!!!
I’ve read them all, all great. I must admit this one was hard to read & I had to let it go a few times. Not because it was bad, but because it was so full of an evil that was hard to deal with. It’s full of goodness, too & I stayed focused on that.
My title says.it all. This is the best plotted of the series.Characters are fleshed out and even the evil ones better developed. Nice to see Leah as Lance's partner, not just a sidekick. If you liked the other books, you will love this one. I did.
Yes another great read I was hoping that there would be a happy ending for Lance & Leah I suppose that's the romantic in me but now I'm left wanting to know more. I feel so frustrated.
I've read all the books in this series. The storyline reminds me a bit of the Supernatural series. Anyone who watched Supernatural would love these books. I'm excited to read the next one.
What can I say, the author has done a magnificent job and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. If you’re reading reviews and wondering if you should commit to this series, I can honestly say you will not be disappointed!!!
Had this in my library for a while, thought as it's Christmas I'd read a good festive tale 😀 Have really enjoyed the series so far, after a slow start this book picked up the pace looking forward to the next one
This was not my favorite of the Lance Brody series. I found that it drug on quite a bit. It didn't have that fast paced action that I've grown to love. Having said that, I gave it 4 stars because Leah finally came into her "powers". Looking forward to seeing how Lance and Leah develop.
This series has been up and down for me. Some of the books I can’t put down and stay up late reading, and others I just struggle to get into. This is one that took awhile for me to really get interested in. Just like Lance and Leah it took a scenic route getting to the good stuff.
I absolutely love this series! But I gotta have the next book Pronto! I have to know what's happening to Lance! Author please get your fingers to tapping on your typewriter!!! What a cliffhanger!
