Enemies will prowl.
Loyalties will tested.
Boundaries will be broken.
Hearts will break.

Emily Valen's life was far from perfect, but she rolled with what she had.
Breathtakingly beautiful, immensely smart, she had the whole damn world at her feet, and she had plans to go far.
Emily adored her life and everyone in it... with one exception... her damaged, soul destroying demon of a stepbrother.

Carter James is the King of Woodville High. Initially from the wrong side of town, he worked hard to try to fit in with the elite crowd. After he soon realized he wasn't born to be a follower, he stood his ground and before long the elite crowd chose to follow him, and King Carter was born.
Now he has the whole of Woodville High worshipping the ground he walks on, and a football scholarship within touching distance.

Nothing and no one would step in his way.
But one drunken night at a pool party was about to change their lives forever... and not for the better.

Hate Me is the first book in Harmony Grey's brand new angsty N/A-Y/A Crossover Hate You Harder series.

DNF - this was painful for me to read. I can move past grammatical errors and misspellings which there were some. What I couldn't get past was the repetition.

So chapter 2 goes over her morning and a run in with her mom and her stepbrother. I already thought the whole conversation with her mom was going on for too long and then comes chapter 3... Chapter 3 is literally her telling her best friend about her morning IN detail. The same information is given in both chapters. Any new information I found out in chapter 3 was maybe one paragraph, two tops. There are more examples of this repetition paragraph to paragraph.

⭐️ 3 stars ⭐️

To be honest, it’s too short. It started with them hating each other other and somehow they decided to sleep together at the end and bam - the end. I don’t like it when this happens.

Hate me Indeed

I am familiar with author Harmony Grey work. I am going to have to say that, even though this is only book one. I'm going to enjoy this series, this will probably be my favorite work by the author.

I loved Hate Me! I read it in one sitting, once I opened it I couldn't put it down.

Emily and Carter are step-siblings and they hate each other's guts. They can't even stand to be in same room. There's so much chemistry between the two of them, but they are in denial. They are fighting it off so hard, all they do is shout angry words at each other.
I absolutely loved Emily and her spit fire mouth. Carter was a complete jerk, but a jerk I loved!

And me? I was lapping it all up like a cat that got her favourite cream. It was so intense and fiery.

Hate Me left me begging for more! Can't wait for Blame Me.

Hate Me tells the story of step siblings Emily Valens and Carter James through dual POVs.

Emily Valens and Carter James hate each other, so much so to the point of where they can’t stand to be in each others presence let alone the same room. They’re enemies who constantly fight with one other. Although despite the hate, they can’t deny new feelings that are developing which are simmering deep down inside. But what does it all mean for Emily and Carter? And what will happen when those feelings boil over and explode?

Throughout Hate Me, we learn about Emily and Carter through their own perspectives. Telling not only their story in regards to their past, but as well as what they’re dealing with and going through when it comes to their friends, school, family and each other.
It has to be said, I was surprised how short the book was, considering I was expecting it to be a full length story given the narrative of the story. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the book because I did, with learning about Emily and Carter through their different personalities. It was a decent read.

Though I have to say there were a few issues I had, one being I felt there was quite a lot of repetitiveness throughout. Especially with Emily constantly mentioning the same things one too many times, even with it sometimes being presented in different ways. IMO it made me feel like I was still reading the same page over again. Which leads me to my other issue. Not only did the overly story feel too wordy at times, but with the repetitiveness it resulted in long and overly descriptive sentences at times which I felt could’ve either been cut down and shortened or even taken out completely in order to cut back on the repetitiveness.

With that said, I definitely think this story has potential and so will be following along to see what direction Harmony will take the series in with Emily and Carter's story. Considering the way it ended on a cliffhanger.

Hate Me is the quick read novella by Harmony Grey and boy does it pack a punch. Emily’s life has been uprooted since her mum remarried and has given her a new stepbrother…Carter, who is the bane of her existence. Arrogant and King of Woodville High, Emily has to be careful where she steps, or she’ll have to face his wrath. But what happens when she tells a little white lie?

This is a fast-paced novella that puts you right into the relationship of Emily and Carter and has the will they/won’t they vibes going throughout the whole thing. Emily is feisty and doesn’t put up with any nonsense from Cater, whilst we also see-through Carter’s eyes and how and why he feels the things he does for Emily. The book ends with a cliff-hanger, and it will be interesting to see what happens with the characters after the way it ended.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

All my tags should reveal this book is a total waste of time. It's stretched out beyond reason in order to maximize the word count and split up the book for more sales. The first 10 chapters has the MCs interacting for no more than 5 minutes. The rest of the time they complain redundantly about each of their relationships- friends, parents, girlfriend, each other etc. It was one epically drawn out repetitive complaint. Then all of a sudden the MCs get together out of the blue and then there's more epically drawn out thought process during what could've but wasn't steamy times. I felt 0 butterflies, 0 emotions that they hooked up...zilch. snore.

Terrible storytelling. 1 star simply because there could've been potential.

Missed Opportunity

It had the potential to be a good book. Too many spelling errors, lots of repetitiveness. It felt very rushed. Emily's whole demeaner was draining from the start. She was not relatable or likeable. I thought the confrontation with Emily & Carter was another missed opportunity. There was next to no build up. I had to skip a lot of pointless, filler words that added nothing to the story that wasn't already stated.

Meh

I managed to follow it, the storyline needed a bit more fleshing out as it jumped around a bit. The characters needed more work & their internal monologue was repetitive. Also lots of grammatical & spelling errors. It was just getting to the good part and then it finished. The ending was rather abrupt after all the build up. Lots of potential, it could have been a good book.

Book 1 was really quick and fast. There’s definitely a lot of tension between Carter and Emily, which leads to them finally jumping into bed together in the end of the book. I’m really looking forward to seeing Holly put in her place. She’s the typical snotty mean girl in the book- cheerleader, ex best friend of Emily and Carters f*** buddy.

Ok

Sorry I tried but I couldn’t finish the book. There was no depth to the characters & a lot of repeating details.
The book could do with a good edit. I have never in my life read/heard of someone needing “rest bite”, instead of respite.

DNF.

Misleading blurb.

It said that the Heroine "loved" everyone in her life but her whining and cribbing about how imperfect literally everyone (especially her mother) was certainly isn't "loving" to me.

Painful

Painful storyline, grammar and storytelling
Plus short as hell. Why are people who can’t even write one book trying to write trilogy’s? Anyway, even on KU it’s a waste of money.

The book didn’t flow overly well, they went from hating each other for no reason to being in bed with each other then it just ended. Plus there were back stories that the author could have explored and told which she didn’t. I feel like I was missing half the book.

Family or Fury

This is an angst filled story about step-siblings who hate or don't hate each other. It ends in a cliffhanger and has no spice. The story is short like a novella, but it builds and builds. I didn't want to end, and it did not. Great story!

Just okay

This was such a slow burn. Not the usual step brother romance. I wish they became siblings as teens otherwise it's kinda weird. Also the steamy stuff was at the very end and no where else. Kinda a let down but I did hate the story. Lots of grammatical errors.

Really Good

It was a really good book. The enemies to lovers trope is one of my favorites. I wished it had more of a back story on Carter to begin with but that's ok.

Hate Me is Super Angst!

I like the beginning of this story. It does feel like there is a lot of information dumping over emotion.
