Seahaven sucked me in straight away with its vivid descriptions, a character I liked, and dark/supernatural elements (which caught me by surprise). This was a fast-paced, quick and fun read, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series! ...more

Seahaven, written by B. K. Bass, is a story that revolves around a man named Gareth and a little port town called Seahaven. Gareth started out his life as an orphan who was forced to become a thief in order to survive. With a life time of thievery behind him he had no intention of becoming a hero, but he soon finds himself in the path a dangerous force that has been plaguing Seahaven for years. Gareth must make a difficult choice to save the town he calls home.

I found the story to be very enjoya

THIS ADVENTURE HELD MY INTEREST, I FINISHED IT IN ONE SEATING , COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. THE SETTING REMAINING ME OF THE 1600-1700 CENTURY IS WELL DEVELOPED AND MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE RIGHT THERE AND CAN SMELL AND TASTE THE ADVENTURE. GARETH'S CHARACTER IS WELL DEVELOPED AND ENGAGING WITH HUMOR BEHIND THE LINES AT TIMES. THERE IS A ROBIN HOOD MENTALLY THAT GIVES THE TWIST THAT MAKES ONE FALL IN LOVE WITH GARETH IMMEDIATELY. THE OTHER CHARACTERS A

Gareth, a thief similar to that of Robin Hood, finds himself making a deal with a vampire that could cost him his life. His options are few as his top priority is the welfare of the children in the orphanage.
Can he succeed in ridding the city of an out of control immortal? No spoilers.
This is an enjoyable, well imagined, fairly fast-paced read. My only concern is the number of typos, and the formatting. Had it not been for those issues, which really didn’t take away from the story, I would ha

When Hillcrest Manor is left unguarded, burglar, Gareth Vann, seizes his opportunity. But it’s more than riches that greet him. Clean prose and a well-realised world, of ale-houses, choked back-alleys and sewers, deliver an enjoyable read, enriched by a punchy plot and cast of humorous and hateful characters, from pirates to prostitutes; vampires to street urchins. Seahaven has it all!

This book was simply wonderful. I never got bored and fell in love with the characters. Bass has really put a fresh new perspective on this genre.

Dark origin story of a vampire slayer

I would give this book another star if all the typos and grammar errors were edited out. The rich description evokes all the senses, transporting you into the world of Seahaven. I enjoyed the cast of scraggly, rough seaside-town characters and the twisty storyline. Will definitely check out the other books in the series.
