1. WHEN A LAIRD LOVES A LADY - 4.5 STARS
My only compliant was the H constantly saying he couldn't/wouldn't love anyone again other than his deceased wife.
I enjoyed the banter between the H/h. The romance built very slowly even if our H tried to deny his feelings, it was a nice journey to see how he began to love his wife. Because the author drew me into their romance, when they came together as man and wife, it was full of passion. Be warned the lovemaking is above mild in description, but I didn't find it vulgar.
There is an attempted rape scene, violence, suspense, intrigue and a great ending with no cliffhanger for our H/h. Now you will have to buy the next book in the series to found out about the H's brother and the h's friend. But, as far as the story line for our H/h it is wrapped up nicely for us, with an epilogue two months in the future.
There are several villains in this story that kept it from being dull. I would recommend this story of second chances and a romance for the ages when he finally realizes he isn't betraying his deceased wife.
I am not going into the blurb, just what you may feel reading it.
2. WICKED HIGHLAND WISHES - 4 STARS
I don't usually give spoiler's but for this I am but will let you know where the spoiler starts and ends!
SPOILER - SPOILER - When our h was 15 there was an attempted rape, but our H saved her. Then near the end of the book, our h is raped so I am warning the reader to be warned. It is not as graphic as many others I've read, but enough to know our h was violated in the worse way and how it effected her. It is wrong no matter what when something you have no choice over is taken from you - your consent! END OF SPOILER !!
The lovemaking between the H/h is full of passion, somewhat descriptive and happens a few times, outside of marriage. I didn't like the games they were forced to play especially our H that it ruined parts for me.
This is a story of so many betrayals, that you need a score card, not enough to have you lose count, but enough to hold your interest. To say there is something that happens at the end with a certain person showing up, shocked the heck out of me.
I loved the strength of our h and her spirit. At times I became frustrated with some of her choices, that caused problems that could have been avoided if she would have just listened.
Small error - in book one a secondary character's wife has a difficulty birth but successfullyrics delivers a healthy boy. When the same couple appear in this story, they talk about their daughter who was just born. As I said small detail but it annoyed me.
There are so many rich character's that I am hoping they have their stories told. The author does a wonderful job on character development and this story has so many layers that it well worth the read.
3. WHEN A HIGHLANDER LOSES HIS HEART - 4 STARS
I own 3 of the stories in the bundle and have read them out of order. I loved the beginning of this story and your heart will ache for what the h has gone through. She has been raised in a convent and worships her father and half brother's. As the story unravels, she has to make a choice who to believe. She makes some poor choices, but for the right reasons. Several times she endangered not only herself but the H and his clan. But, because of her caring heart, so also saved many.
The h's grandmother was a smart women. Even though we only actual meet her at the end of the story. The reason she held onto this strategic place was for her granddaughter to be able to decide who to marry. The h's mother didn't have the choice and it cost her. But, the King, knowing the edict the grandmother placed on this strategic property, chooses someone else. That was never mentioned that the King was going against the grandmother and he could lose her as an ally.
The H is one of those hero's who will never love because he is undeserving. This went on way too long for me and it caused my feelings for him to drop. This would have been a 5 star review from me, if he didn't treat the h with these feelings and hurt her over and over.
There is a lot of passionate lovemaking, within marriage, heat level 4.25 out of 5.
Many suspenseful moments, twists, many nasty villains, violence and intrigue. This touches on physical and emotional abuse. It is told after the fact but the aftereffects are awful.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance since the H fought it and steam. I recommend this author and series.
4. HOW A SCOT SURRENDERS TO A LADY - 4 STARS
I wished I kept track how many times the word PERCHANCE was used. Minimum of 30 I bet and it became frustrating. Some suspense and heart pounding scenes and some that were very repetitive.
I love stories with a seer in them and many times you hope her predictions are wrong. There is violence, surprises, secrets (which you understand why - even though I dislike secrets), intrigue and twists.
Actual lovemaking within marriage, but plenty of everything but outside of marriage - heat level 5 out of 5.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, very rough road to HEA, romance and steam.
5. WHEN A WARRIOR WOOS A LASS - 4.5 STARS
I have read half the books in this series, and they are stand alone. As the author warns this story may have an impact on those you have or know someone who has been physically abused. It is talked about after the fact, and you are spared the actual event.
Both our H/h have different demons to overcome and for different reasons. We discover the h's almost from the start and why she can't stand to be touched. Our H was so patient with her that you will take to him right away. But, the abuse that the H endured takes most of the story, like an onion being peeled away, bit by bit. You understand his reluctance in sharing the tail.
Love blossoms slowly and they don't hold back when they realize their feelings. We have several villains and that kept the story moving for me. There are some secrets, but they don't last forever thankfully.
My ONLY problem was towards the end with an old friend of the H's. I felt it was resolved way to quickly, but other than that I loved the story and the way the author pulls you into caring for this couple.
There is lovemaking, very mildly described and not often, very tender because of what the h endured previously. We do get HEA, and no cliffhanger for our couple, but one of the secondary character's is left up in the air and her story is next. I have it on my wish list hoping it will go on sale. Not that this author's stories are not worth the price, they are, but I read to much to afford it. Love the Wish List capability on Amazon. There is no cheating either in this story.

Love conquers all
Wow. All of the novels in this collection were wonderful. Exciting characters, great historical backdrop. I Loved the way the loyalty to family, clan, extended family, King and friends played out. There was a cohesive structure of each story meandering throughout. Physical, mental as well as spiritual abuse handled with dignity. Excellently written.

Support among family
This collection illustrates the strength of family bonds even when kidnapping, jealousy or competitiveness occurs. Each brother has his own strengths as a warrior. Strong reasoning leads to solid planning and retrieval of a sister long thought dead. Discovering the twists and turns in each novel creates an enjoyable read.

Highlander Adventure ×6
Oh My Gosh...that was an Highlander adventure story that I'm sure will take awhile to recover from. Beautifully written by Julie Johnstone (my top 10 favorite author btw). Had all the feels, happy, sad and heartbreaking with five HEA. Each H&H were equally exciting but Lena and Alex stole my heart and just discovered there are four more books to the Highland Vow series. Bargain price for this special set at a dollar+ a book. Took me a week and a half of late night reading but well worth the lack of sleep. I'm off to start book 7. Highly recommend this and all Julie's series.

Great stories
I loved how all of the Scottish men found true love with strong and brave women who each had hard times and adventures. All of the men needed something to save them and make them stronger. Read about all of their scary, sad and happy times.

Hard Love
Throughout this series each of the couples overcome some pretty hard obstacles. The writing was awesome and the characters well defined. I would highly recommend this worthy series.
