Chinese Light Novel by Yilu Fan Hua (Road of Flowers, Frustrated Flower All the Time)
Total Ch745
Great Urban Fantasy

I kinda wish I knew how to read Chinese. LoL Just to see what the differences are between the original and translation. I've read a few Chinese light novels and this one is the current fav. It was the right mix of layered plot, intriguing characters and wonderful + dangerous connection of friends, family and enemies.

The story has a lot of rough edges, but I really enjoyed the way details were pulled together. To be fair, this book could have easily been drawn out to a thousand chapters. The story comes close to pulling together a bunch of my favorite things and create a story with fun characters, smattering of humor and engaging twists. I don't think I've read a story that entwined so many diverse aspects of science, music, slice of life, shady politics, romance and more into one.

Around Ch234

The intro to the story was rough. Reading the translation is a bit of work, because there's an obvious disconnect between the original language (Chinese) and understanding of equivalent meaning in English. However, the use of the origin's popular foreign words/slang and the way things are described shows a different kind of perspective that's been a lot of fun to connect.

I love the main characters and enjoying the anime style action sequences. A lot of details are given to the reader in a frank manner, but you have to connect the dots to understand the varied layers. So, while the story is not a mystery, it's like a mystery to solve because I'm not fed all the answers of what is happening in the story. A nice change up from the historical transmigration/portal stories and the LitRPG style action comics I've been devouring. ;)
