I enjoyed this marriage of convenience romance a lot! You know I love this trope so I couldn't contain my joy and excitement for this book when it was announced. The cover is super cute so that was definitely a plus.

Best friends need to have a marriage of convenience so they can both go after their dreams. They are already roommates, so how can their relationship change more? Well... LMAO. They do not expect all of this sexual tension after they say I do and kiss!!! It's so cute to see them be

A solid novel length-debut from an author I'm friendly with on Twitter, I loved the voice of this contemporary marriage-of-convenience with both heart and steam.

Best friends of over 17 years decide to just get married to prove to Darcy Ryan's family and Lucas Vaughan's company that they are a solid couple, and that they are worthy to pursue Darcy's painting career and Lucas's deserved promotion.

Funny thing about getting married in Vegas is that the kiss and ceremony spark major feelings for both

This was a fun story about two long time best friends who get married for logical reasons and then decide to just go for it. I liked that they had a solid foundation of friendship to build on and were already working as a partnership. I do wish we'd had more time with them as a couple on the page, but that's just me. I also enjoyed that therapy is normalized and encouraged. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more from this author. I heard about it from a Twitter thread about ch ...more

Okay, so, before anyone on here is like, “Lara read a romance novel and rated it 5 stars, whaaaaaaat?” I will acknowledge that yeah, this is not my usual genre. You guys know how I am about sex scenes—I can’t help it, I’m a prudish old lady mixed with a 7 year old at heart! But lemme tell you what I loved about this book:

1. The main characters’ friendship is long-standing, adorable and believable, and I really enjoyed them. Their banter is fun, they’re fiercely loyal to each other, and they are

This friends to lovers rom com from debut author Jess Fox hits SO MANY catnip buttons for me: friends to lovers, family you make, VEGAS WEDDING. I love me a good Vegas wedding romance. Lucas and Darcy are the perfect ride-or-die BFFs, so of COURSE his solution to her over-bearing family's assertion that she doesn't have her life together (she DOES, thank you very much) is to announce they're together. And of COURSE that leads to an impulsive Vegas wedding to sell the fiction. And of COURSE that ...more

Hmm this started off cute and I blazed through, but then I started to lose interest. Even if the end game couple are childhood (or, in this case, college) best friends, I still need some slow burn, especially because neither of them were secretly pining for the other. I don’t really like books where the main couple gets together half-way in because then I know the rest of the book is going to be spent on petty little fights, miscommunication, and the “break up and then make up” played out trope. ...more

Thanks again for the book recommendation, Jana. I absolutely love Darcy and Lucas. Their friendship was comforting and hilarious. Their romance felt swoon worthy, yet realistic because of their foundation as best friends. The conflict felt genuine, which propelled the story well. The love scenes were spicy and heartwarming. It was so easy to fall in love with Darcy and Lucas' love because of what Jess built between her characters. There's history, passion, honest, and hilarity that's rooted in a ...more

Whether you’re tempted to file it under “friends to lovers” or “marriage of convenience” - there’s no way you can mislabel this delightful read as anything but charming, engaging, steamy and totally sigh-worthy.

I loved Jess Fox’s twist on both tropes, as best friends Darcy and Lucas decide to get hitched to ease the pressure and alleviate the distraction of NOT being married. Of course, it doesn’t take much more than a meaningful glance or a lingering touch between them for the reader to catch o

This was so close to landing on my Keeper Shelf, but a few nitpicky plot distractions pulled me out of the story just enough to make it teeter off the shelf. No matter...it was still a wonderful story that felt more "realistic" than you'd think a modern-day marriage of convenience trope could feel. :) ...more

I really needed this and I want more! This is a book that demands you snuggle into a comfy blanket and get lost in the story until you realize that you’re cackling just a little too loud. LOVED it!
