पैरामाउंट कैमिकल्स अंग्रेजी दवाइयां बनाने वाली एक लिमिटेड कम्पनी थी जिसके साथ प्रतिशत शेयर नागपाल साहब के पास थे । नागपाल साहब की मौत के बाद जब वे शेयर उनकी दो बेटियों - रीता और सरिता में आधे-आधे बंट गए तो उनको कब्जाने के लिये लोगों में जैसे होड़ लग गयी । एक प्रतिद्वंद्वी तो शेयरों के साथ-साथ उनकी एक मालकिन को भी कब्जाने के सपने देखता था ।

सन १९७५ में पहली बार प्रकाशित हुआ यह उपन्यास, सुनील सीरीज में ५७ वां उपन्यास है। सर सुरेन्द्र मोहन पाठक द्वारा लिखित कुल लिखे उपन्यासों में यह ८१ वें क्रम पर आता है। ४० वर्ष पहले लिखी गयी, गढ़ी गयी और प्रकाशित हुई इस कहानी में आज भी जीवन्तता का अनुभव होता है। यह कहानी किसी हार्डकोर और काम्प्लेक्स मर्डर मिस्ट्री जैसी नहीं लगती हैं और इसका कारण वर्तमान समय में इस कहानी को पढना है, शायद ४० वर्ष पहले ये कहानी पाठकों को एक शानदार मर्डर मिस्ट्री लगती हो।

A good adaption of Perry Mason's The Case of the Silent Partner by Erle Stanley Gardner. Good mystery, you have to pay attention to the story to guess the curprit an clues are very smartly given.

Another gem of a story with tight narrative and great suspense. Sunil is in his elements again and helps another damsel with his quick thinking and fast work. A great read.
