A Sweet Proposal Part 1

Rate this book
Crescent Bay, a beautiful small beach town …

Penelope Drew thinks she has everything figured out: chase her dreams, get her degree, create a decent life for herself. Instead, she winds up in debt and works at the hospital to make ends meet. While there, she meets a man considerably older than herself, David Bruce. He offers an opportunity for financial and emotional stability she can’t deny.

Unfortunately, David is very sick and his health doesn’t seem to be improving. While she yearns for him to be healed, she must face David’s family and their suspicion that she is with David for his wealth and fortune.

Encompassed in a tiny beach town, Penelope must make peace with David’s family, face her own internal struggles, and discover that life is often unforeseen and there is hidden beauty along the way.

Kim Hall is at it again! I have read all her stuff so far and this is her newest entry.

Penelope has not had an easy life so far. She is a fighter and plodded on determinedly through it all. She is now in a good place and has a job at a hospital. Here, she meets David - the saddest man she has ever met.

David has had a life. He now has a half life. His illness can strike at a moments notice and leaves no room for much else. But then, he meets her. Her smile cuts through his cold fog and lights up every thing.

I was surprised about the direction the story took and am excited about the next segment.

I received a free copy from herself and am volunteering an honest review for the benefit of others.

A Sweet Proposal
Part 1
By Kim Hall

Kim takes us into the life of Penelope Drew. She is an orphan who has tried to better her situation in life – but for the wrong reasons. We see her struggle to make ends meet. We are also allowed to see her make her first real friends.
One of her friends offers her something she never expected.
The book ends when she receives the offer. We are left waiting to see her response.
It is a cliff-hanger for sure, but one that is totally unexpected. It truly leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering what Penelope will do.
If you love a story with a cliff-hanger this is the series for you.
Grab this book, a cup of coffee, a comfortable chair, and settle in to be entertained.

Penelope is an orphan young lady who works three jobs, but only has one person she can call a friend: her coworker at two of those jobs, Damian.
David is a fifty year-old man with a fatal condition, waiting to die, tired of being hospitalized, and whose siblings have increasingly distanced from him. Especially his younger sister, his favorite, who witnessed his first episode, but now barely even speaks to him.
These two forge an unexpected, but endearing friendship. Two lost souls coming together.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion
Beatiful start for this series.

I started reading expecting great things of A Sweet Proposal. I waited till I had my hands on the first 3 installments. Why? Because when I get a Kim Hall story I get greedy for more. This way I figured I'd read it a bit at a time and the 4th would be available. Fat chance. The laundry didn't get done. The cookies and soup I planned to make are still calling to me. I didn't hear them before now. My mind was too full of the unpredictably wonderful characters and unexpected twists and turns her ingenious plot has taken. And now I have to wait for more. Read A Sweet Proposal but not till you have lots of time because you won't want to put it down.

Penelope works three jobs to pay her bills and a student loan. One night while doing her job at the hospital she meets a patient named David. David is dying from a heart condition and his family have quit visiting. They become good friends.
Through their conversations, we learn more about the characters . I like the characters and find myself hoping for things to improve for both of them.
The story is interesting and moves forward quickly. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Penelope is working three jobs to make ends meet and doesn't have time for much else in her life. She doesn't have friends. She is friendly with one of the guys at the cafe shop where she works and she meets a patient, David, who seems friendly with her at her job at the hospital. This story is like a serial as each book is a short read of only five chapters but they are well written and even though the story goes quickly they are a good read. I thought this first book was quite interesting and ended on an interesting note.

Clean short story series about a poor girl working 3 jobs. She takes time to visit with a lonely patient with no visitors while she is working at hospital. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work this much to make ends meet and I'm sure there are people out there who do. I found it interesting though short. Looking forward to next book in series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this short read and the characters that Kim Hall has created. I'm looking forward to the next installment as we are just getting to know the characters in this book.
But I do love the lead female character Penelope.
Well worth a read if you're looking for a short story, just be warned it ends on a cliffhanger.

Omg

I can't believe how Kim ended this book. It is a big shock. Like when tv series end and you have a week before you see new one or 3 months. Lol I love Penelope. David is sweet and strong and deserves happiness and love. Sucks his family are the way they are. It happens too many times.
Can't wait for next book. I hope she says happiness not sadness.

Kim Hall does it again. This book is an excellent example of how she writes. The books are clean...easy reading...and the plot flows. I'm never disappointed in Kim's books. I never read romances but I make an exception for Kim's books. I loved this book and look forward to the next in the series.

Great Beginning

This is a new author for me. If all her books are anything like this one then she has a new reader. This was short, clean story. I am looking forward to reading the next book

This is a clean well written story but it only has 37 pages and it leaves out hanging to find out what's next. I received an ARC of this book but it's bore like a chapter. I really enjoyed what I read.

In the first book of this series, an orphaned young woman named Penelope works multiple jobs to make ends meet while wishing she had made an effort to make friends along the way so she could have someone to talk with now. Enter David, an older man who has lived a life of luxury until illness struck and his family members chose to keep their distance from him. Penelope and David become fast friends when they meet at the hospital, she as cleaning staff and he as a patient. The intricate characters and heartfelt storyline of how two lonely souls find their way to each other is sure to play out as an intriguing story in this multi-book series.
