TW//CW bombing, death, hostage situation, murder, sexual content, terrorism

This one is a cute romantic suspense read.
It started with a bang, like literally, an explosion happened at the Hotel where Hudson stay, right after he check-in. Since then everything is become complicated, lots of questions and mysteries and lots of bad guys too.
There's also a best friend to lovers trope here, which takes the most part of the book, yeah not a big fan of it, I'd prefer a perfect portions between the romance and the suspense, but it still a cute story, love Hudson and Avery, they're perfect for each other, although I found Avery a bit reckless, but still an entertaining read for me, considering I devoured it in one day.

If you're looking for a fast-paced romantic suspense read with best friend to lovers trope, go for this one.

Hudson

I love the SEALS of Honor series and Hudson’s story does it proud, it captures your attention from the start.

Years after the death of his high school sweetheart, Delilah, Hudson still hasn’t really moved on with his romantic life. Delilah’s younger sister Avery and Hudson have remained best friends throughout the years despite their grief from losing Delilah, however, they have never taken their relationship to the next level for fear of ruining the great friendship they share.

A lot of action ensues when at the beginning of a long awaited visit, Hudson’s hotel blows up just as he and Avery are leaving for lunch. From that point on, Hudson & Avery are the targets of a terrorist group who have set up a “terrorist training workshop” in the beautiful city of Vail, Colorado. Hudson inadvertently sees two members of this group in the hotel he is staying at and now they need to take him out as well as Avery, just in case he told her about them and because she is with Hudson, crazy thinking at its finest!

The bodies start piling up, mysteries abound and sexual attraction is simmering just below the surface and moving forward for Hudson & Avery. Lots of action and intrigue, Hudson is the calm hero in this crazy storm. This is a book you don’t want to put down until it is finished, no matter what else you have going on. I highly recommend you read this fabulous story!

Hudson goes to Vail, Colorado to see Avery who is a friend he has been close to for a long time. Hudson and Avery are both attracted to each other, but they are afraid that if they get more intimate, it might ruin their friendship. When Hudson arrives, he goes to meet Avery, and before they can leave the hotel a bomb goes off. That is just the start of the action. Each terrorist that tries to take out Hudson is killed when they fail. As the body count rises with both good guys and bad guys, Hudson knows he must find everyone involved or Avery and he will need to be looking over their shoulders all the time. Being close to Hudson puts Avery in danger and the terrorists try to use her to get to Hudson. Although Hudson wants Avery to stay safe, she cannot help but get herself in the middle of the action. She stands up to the terrorist and counts on Hudson’s skills to save her. This book was action-packed. Once I started reading the book, I couldn’t put it down.

Hudson and Avery have been friends for a lot of years. Hudson used to go with her sister before she died. But this is one visit with her that turns deadly. With terrorists all around Vail, they are just trying to stay alive. Plenty of action, death, some heat towards the end and intrigue. HEA. After a few days of rest, Hudson heads to visit his best friend in Vail, Colorado. However, on the first day, an explosion in his hotel sends the city into chaos. Hudson does what he can to keep Avery safe as it is clear to see that this was not an accident and although he is not allowed to join the investigation, he has the training and is on the spot and he just can't sit idly by and do nothing - especially if Avery is in any kind of trouble. Avery has been really looking forward to Hudson's visit. As best friends she definitely wants to spend more time with him and as she has loved him since forever but has not taken things further as she doesn't want to risk their friendship. After the blast, she regrets it as that one explosion seems to just be the tip of a much bigger problem as the terrorist has realised that Hudson caught a glimpse of him. So now a game of cat and mouse is on, with Avery caught in the middle - can Hudson sort all of this out, keep Avery safe and can they have a chance of a future together?

I enjoyed this story which was all around a group of terrorists and this had a resonance with today as I can see that translating into the real world very easily. Full of mystery, drama, danger, complications and in the centre of all of that love. Easy to read, this swept me up and pulled me along as we all learn more about who was doing this, what was going to happen next, how it was going to end and how things between Hudson and Avery would change. Contains some explicit sexual content nearer the end of the book.

When Hudson Cameron stepped into the elevator in his Vail Colorado hotel, his SEAL instincts kicked in, something wasn't quite right with the two military looking men that were there. Hudson put it to the back of his mind when they went one way and he went the other, he was keen to see Avery, it had been a long time. Hudson just had time to drop his bag and run to meet her, Avery was waiting outside, as he gave her an enormous hug something wasn't quite right, he just had time to push her out of the way before a huge explosion wracked the hotel.
This was to be the start of a chain of events that was to put both their lives in danger.
Hudson's only real girlfriend had been Avery's sister Delilah but she had died many years ago, where Delilah was quiet and serene, Avery was a feisty redhead who Hudson couldn't stop thinking about, even more so since Mason the matchmaking leader of his SEAL team made him face up to why he kept going back to see her........but did she feel the same way about him or did she see him as a brother ? if they took things to the next level would they loose their special friendship ?
The body count in the small winter sports town was escalating and Avery and Hudson appeared to be at the centre of things but why ? Hudson was determined to find the answer, he had no jurisdiction in Vail but with the help of his SEAL team buddies he would work in the background.
Another great action packed story with a lovely romance from Dale Mayer.

On R&R Hudson goes to Vail to meet up with Avery. Their friendship is a long one, her sister Delilah had been his high school sweetheart and when she died, she took a part of Hudson's heart. Avery remained close to him throughout the years but they never looked further than friendship. This time he's going to take Mason's advice and re-evaluate the relationship.

Avery is thrilled Hudson is coming to Vale. It's been a long time since she's seen him although they communicate often. She's anticipated his call and is actually waiting for him to come meet her for coffee.

Then things go BOOM!

Before the chaos of official vehicles Hudson runs back into the hotel and grabs his bag. On his way back down he runs into a very shaken older woman. He escorts her down and to EMTs before rejoining Avery and heading to Enzo's for coffee. Mason contacts him to be sure he's safe and starts him thinking about what just happened. Mason also tells him that the convention coming in is law enforcement computer security experts. Which makes the event even more suspicious.

They get seats by a window to observe the hotel scene while they have coffee and pizza. Still talking about what happened they are interrupted by an old friend Dennis. Dennis is now a detective and tells Hudson officials would listen if he had any information to give them.

Needless to say, this isn't quite what Avery and Hudson planned for their time together but danger is going to follow them.

Lots of suspense, action, romance and just the right amount of sizzle in this latest adventure of Mason's Team.

This is the 27th book in Dale Mayer’s “SEALs of Honor” series. Hudson and Avery have been close friends for a very long time. Since Hudson is a Navy SEAL, however, they rarely get the chance to see each other.

Finally, Hudson decides to take some time off and visit Avery who lives in Vail, Colorado. Before, he even gets a chance to settle into his room, his hotel explodes. Hudson suspects this is not an accident when he notices suspicious and dead people as he evacuates.

However, as soon they move into Avery’s apartment, it is partially destroyed by a shooter. At that point, Hudson realizes that both of their lives are in danger. Since he is not allowed to help investigate, all he can do is use his experience to keep both of them safe.

While Avery and Hudson are running for their lives, they admit that they have always felt more than friendship for each other. However, they had not taken their relationship to the next level, because they were afraid to destroy their fantastic friendship. Their current dangerous situation gives them the strength to disclose their real feelings.

This is another exciting page-turner by Dale Mayer. As in all of her books, this story includes skillfully creative plots with a lot of intrigue and action. It also has strong, independent characters that are constantly being attacked by evil villains. The reader can expect surprises as they read this book.

I really enjoyed reading Hudson . This is another story in Seals of Honor series . I really enjoyed reading it . This story is action packed and Suspenseful from the start . Hudson Cameron is a Navy Seal part of Masons men . Hudson heads out on some Rest and relaxation to Vale Colorado to spend time with his best friend and maybe potential girlfriend Avery . Hudson does not expect to have the hotel he is staying at blowup . Nor does he expect to find Avery and himself in more danger of course it seems to always find him . Hudson while searching for answers finds himself protecting Avery . Hudson must find out who is behind everything and why so he and Avery can hopefully move their relationship forward . This story is well written and the characters are wonderful and unique . I highly recommend Taking the time to read .

Hudson by Dale Mayer
SEALs of Honor Series Book Twenty-seven
Hudson Knoeppel has been watching his SEAL brothers fall, one after the other. Fall in love, that is. So now that they have some downtime, he decides to visit an old friend. Mason encouraged him to see if there was more between them. The thing is, it’s the sister to the woman he’d loved and lost.
Avery is so happy to see Hudson. However, their visit started with quite a bang, literally. His hotel exploded right as they met in the lobby. So now, she can enjoy watching him and his incredible mind as he can’t help but try to figure out what happened even if he is supposed to be on vacation.
The fear of losing a special friendship had stopped these two before. But maybe they can move on from the past and find a future. After they figure out what’s going on with the bombing first.

When Hudson has a few days off he decides to journey to Vail to catch up with an old friend, maybe not so old. He and Avery have been friends for a long time. Hudson and her sister were sweethearts in high school however Delilah was killed in a auto accident right after prom. Delilah's death was part of what kept Hudson and Avery together but also part of what kept them apart. So Hudson arrives in Vail and minutes after his arrival, then meeting Avery in the lobby, a loud explosion really jump starts this story. A lot about friendship, love, history affecting decisions, loyalty and a few terrorists thrown in the plot. Their journey is well done and quite enjoyable. The epilogue speaks of Lachlan's trip to Germany and a new job which has captured his interest while he is not so excited about people trying to match him with another. We'll see and I can't wait!

When Hudson goes to visit his BF Avery, he doesn’t expect to get caught up in the middle of a bombing and being hunted by potential mercenaries/terrorists during his vacation and in turn, putting Avery in the middle of it as well. But during their visit they finally confront their feelings and move forward from friends to lovers…now they just have to stay alive to explore it.
A good read with some steam, good characters and action and suspense. I enjoyed these two and the story but was missing closure when it came to why Vail was chosen for the testing, what happened to the con woman, and how the older man that was found died. I did enjoy the no drama, the open honesty and no shying away from their feelings and how easily they moved forward in their relationship.

Hudson and Avery have been best friends for years but have never gone beyond the "friend zone". That is, until Mason asks Hudson if there was the possibility of something more there. After thinking about it, Hudson decides to see how Avery feels when he goes to Vail to see her. However, trouble seems to have a way of finding Hudson and just as they meet up in the lobby of his hotel, there is an explosion. Little do the two of them know the scope of events that will unfold in the next few days - from exploring the possibility of a relationship, to trying to find and thwart some terrorists, to Avery making some life decisions. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end.

The Snakes Head

Mason had him thinking, that's what sent Hudson to Vail to spend some time with Avery.
But things never seemed to go smoothly regardless of the circumstances. Avery and Hudson were about to walk outside his hotel when it all went south and a bomb blew up a good chunk of the lobby as they were about to leave. From then it seemed that after finding out more about the Organisation they were dealing with there were more & more dead to deal with.

Until the two of them were the main targets left standing.
I Would Highly Recommend this Author to Anyone and Everyone who loves Romance, Action and Thrills. Every book seems to get better & better.
Enjoy...l know l did. 👍 😁 🇦🇺 Australian reader.

A relaxing break with a childhood takes a dangerous turn for Hudson just as he steps out of the hotel he just arrived at, now he has the itch to learn more about the explosion but also make sure he doesn't put Avery in danger and then there is the probing and reflective questions that Avery asks about them. This was the perfect mix of danger, mystery and seeing two people finally acknowledge there are feelings there and they aren't due to the past but due to them. A entertaining read that has you wondering when Hudson and Avery will finally see what's in front of them and act on it as well as what is really going on in Vail and who's behind it!

Hudson and Avery have been best friends since they were teenagers, and they share a tragic loss. His career doesn’t give them much time to spend together so the chance to spend some time with her is the respite he needs however their reunion is marred by an explosion and the danger they now find themselves in.

Although she feels much more for Hudson than friendship, she believes that due to their complicated past that is all they can be. As the danger escalates around them so does the chemistry between them but will they be able to uncover the trust before they become collateral damage?

Romance, intrigue and surprises as they work to get the answers they need and find each other along the way.

Getting Avery safely out of the hotel, Hudson soon realizes that the danger for them is not over. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wow - I was immediately captivated by this thrilling military romance and couldn't put the book down until I read the last word with characters you want to know and a fast-paced, action-filled suspenseful story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the off-the-charts chemistry between best friends Hudson, a Navy SEAL who heads to Vail for a week of R&R and Avery. If you enjoy smartly written military romance that you can't put down, you will love "SEALs of Honor: Hudson". I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. Hudson

When their last mission completed Hudson had some time off that he used to visit his best friend Avery in Vail. Little did either know what terror awaited the town and each of them. A terrorist cell was in the US for " training" with Vail being their hot spot. As Hudson and Avery work with the local police, Mason's team and in general to figure everything out and stop the attack.
During all this turmoil they realized they had been very drawn to each other for at least 10 years and they needed to move forward into more than a friend relationship. Will they be able to escape the attacks, stop the terrorists and come out on top of life?

Suspense, friends to lovers, Terrorists on US Soil. Hudson gets some leave and heads to Vail to see his best friend Avery, sister to the woman he loved and lost and there in starts the twisted tail of Terrorists on US Soil. It is a scary thought and all to real the way it plays out in this story. The friends to lovers flowed naturally, which I appreciated. Avery was smart, compassionate, tenacious and all round win for Hudson. An easy read that brought enjoyment and made me think. Thank you for the arc, all thoughts and opinions are my own which I freely share.

Hudson and Avery have been friends since they were children, their connection was her older sister. She and Hudson had been a couple until she died. These two continued as friends, afraid to cross the line. Now during a visit they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Terrorists have them in their sights. Avery seemed to have a death wish, she was a bit of a ninny. Hudson is our hero, determined to flush out this terrorist group.
This was an extremely entertaining story, it flowed well and was a quick read.

Hudson is the 27th book in the SEALs of Honor series by Dale Mayer. Hudson’s team leader, Mason has a chat with him before he goes on holidays to see a longtime friend, Avery. Mason discusses the long friendship and whether it is time to re-evaluate the relationship to take it further. Hudson arrives in Vail, checks into a hotel. Meets up with Avery in the lobby. From here on the pace rarely slows down. With bombs, snipers and bullets flying around, this book keeps your interest to the end. Always a different kind of story, Dale Mayer’s books are worth purchasing and re-reading.

While on vacation to visit Avery in Vail, an explosion in his hotel crashes in. Although he can't help investigate, Hudson does what he does best and keeps Avery safe. Avery and he are best friends, and more, but have been afraid to take the relationship to the next level. The explosion is the catalyst to move them closer. Now the terrorist is after Hudson and Avery is caught in the middle. They must save each other and take their relationship to the next level.

This is book 26 in the SEALs of Honor series and it features Hudson and Avery. He and Avery have been best friends through the years, although her feelings for him were much stronger than friendship.  It’s time they reevaluate their relationship but they’re afraid to ruin what they do have.

The story line is good.  The characters are ok.  The problem is that both the main character’s actions (mostly Avery’s) are so far out of the realm of possibility that it makes the story less attractive. I know that things happen fast   and are exaggerated in books but this is even beyond that.

I enjoyed this book. The writing is well done and the story engaging. The blend of exciting thrills, drama, danger, emotion, action, emotion, twists and romance was too enticing to resist and it very quickly had me firmly caught up and on the edge. Hudson and Avery made a great couple that was easy to root for. I thought they were kind of sweet and the feels solid. This is my elective, objective review.
