I had a great time with this book! This is the second book in the Monster MASH series which I would recommend reading in order if at all possible but it could also work as a stand-alone if necessary. This is a lighter read that doesn't take itself too seriously and has a fair amount of humor woven throughout the story. I am so glad that I decided to give this series a try.

Since the truce between the old and new gods has put a temporary stop to the huge number of casualties that Petra's MASH unit have been trained to deal with things have been a little quieter for Petra and her colleagues. The lull in emergencies has left more time for them to get back to being normal doctors though and Petra is enjoying having the chance to work with regular patients again. Even if she agrees to help can she really trust a man who has already broken her heart once before? Things are about to get complicated.

I really enjoyed Immortally Yours so I couldn't wait to get my hands on Immortally Embraced. I have to admit that this book was nothing like I expected but thankfully that doesn't mean I enjoyed it any less. I was completely shocked when Galen walked away from Petra and I was even more shocked at the arrival of someone from her past! I can't say who it is because I would hate to spoil the surprise but trust me it was the last person I expected. I'm not normally a fan of love triangles so I was a bit sceptical when the new guy first appeared on the scene but I have to say that it was handled really well and I actually found myself falling for the new guy right alongside Petra. To be fair I have a bit of a thing for dragon shifters so that was a big bonus in his favour!

I so badly want to talk more about the new guy and why I loved him so much but I'm wary of the fact that anything I say could end up turning into an unintentional spoiler. I'm just going to leave it by saying I loved how much he cared for Petra and although I could understand why she was so angry with the things he did in the past I was also able to see why he did it and forgive him for it. Petra is still a great heroine, she isn't the strongest person - especially compared to the supernatural creatures she is surrounded by - but she is brave and intelligent. I respect the fact that she always stands up for what she believes in, even when it gets her into trouble, and I admire her for her determination to try and stop the war.

Immortally Embraced was just as much fun to read as the first book in the series, the humour is fantastic and had me giggling to myself several times as I was reading. I also enjoyed the relationship development between Petra and the new guy and am now extremely curious to see what is going to happen in the final book, Immortally Ever After, which will be released in August. I honestly don't know if I want to see her end up with Galen or new guy which is very unusual for me - I tend to be quick to pick a side when it comes to love triangles! If you enjoyed the first book in the series then you're going to love this one just as much (even if you're not a fan of love triangles so don't let that put you off because this is far from your average one!). If you're new to the series then I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun and light hearted paranormal romance that is full of humour, great characters and a nice amount of smut. I would suggest starting with the first book, Immortally Yours, though so you can get the most out of the ongoing storyline with the war between the old and new gods. ...more

I really got caught up in the first book but absolutely loved this one ! I cannot praise this unique take on Mash medicine highly enough. I adore Petra our medic as she just cares so much. In this book we get to see much more meddlesome Gods or maybe I mean Goddesses. Plus I absolutely forgive the author for changing the romance because it was a surprise that really worked. I really loved this book. It's an Urban fantasy with a twist. A little bit romance, mystery and a lot of witty storytelling.
The world and the characters are memorable. It's a fun story about a doctor at a M.A.S.H. unit located in Limbo. The Gods are at war but a tentative peace has broken out. I love this trilogy! Petra's new patient is Medusa and she is pregnant. As the MASH unit enjoys a temporary truce Petra first love turns up not only alive but doing well. Petra doesn't have time to deal with all the emotions as they fight to prevent the old gods from using a new and terrible weapon.

I loved, loved, loved The Transylvania Twist by Angie Fox! I’ve been a fan of Fox's work for years and was beyond thrilled when she announced plans to republish The Monster MASH series with some major revisions. This book, which is the second in the trilogy, was originally published as Immortally Embraced in 2013. I actually own all three of the original ebooks and read them years ago. I enjoyed them immensely but always felt like something important was missing from the series, though I could never pinpoint what. Don’t get me wrong; the entire original series was very good. Obviously, other people agreed. The original release of the first book was a RITA Award finalist for 2013 in the paranormal romance category. Without a doubt, Fox is an exceptional storyteller and talented wordsmith. I’ve always found her work to be unique, clever, and entertaining, but her Monster MASH series is one of the most imaginative concepts I’ve ever read. Fox’s reboot of this trilogy with quite a few major revisions took a gemstone-in-the-rough manuscript and elevated it to a brilliant, shiny diamond. Two of the major changes were the elimination of the explicit love scenes and a downplay of the angsty romantic vibes, changing the entire focus of the story and giving it a more upbeat, comedic feel. It still has romantic elements but the reader is no longer distracted by the sex scenes, allowing us the concentrate on the core of the story, which is the plot, conflict, and the entire cast of characters, their lives, interactions, and relationship to each other. There are still romantic elements, but the love triangle aspect is no longer the main driving force of the story, though the relationship between the heroine, Dr Petra Robichaud, and her two heroes. The first is former-demigod Galen of Delphoi, Commander with the New God Army, whom we met in book one. The second is Dr Marcus Balinger, a dragon shifter and former Captain with the Old God Army, who makes a shocking appearance in book two. And just what makes it so shocking? He's not only Petra's ex-boyfriend but also because he's been dead for the last eight years! Say what?!? And all three protagonists are still extremely important components of the entire series. Fox also expanded the sense of community by adding information and dialogue to elevate the importance of the secondary and tertiary characters. And I LOVED it! One of the things I enjoy most about Fox’s work is her ability to create a magnificent cast of fantastical yet relatable and endearing characters, giving her worlds a small town/community atmosphere, even in a fictional, warzone MASH unit. For anyone unfamiliar with the term, it means Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. And if you just thought like the 70s television series with Hawkeye Pierce, Hot Lips Houlihan, and Corporal Klinger, you would be correct. Fox definitely received inspiration from the show and its cast. Our very reluctant heroine, Dr Petra Robichaud, was the perfect embodiment of the always irreverent Hawkeye Pierce. I fell in love with our intrepid heroine Petra Robichaud! She was smart, strong, stubborn, sassy, snarky, and not easily convinced of her destiny. Actually, she was dragged into the role of heroine, literally kicking and screaming the entire way.

And our intense hero, handsome demigod and elite special forces soldier Captain Galen of Delphi, was just the opposite. He was all too eager to fall on his sword and sacrifice his life for the cause of the New God Army - or at least he was until he met Dr Petra Robichaud. The attraction between these two was immediate but it takes a lot more than a near-death experience to win Petra’s trust, and a heck of a lot more to win her love. But with faith in each other, these two may be able to save the world!

Half fae, half-human Petra Robichaud was happy with life at her clinic in New Orleans. She was one of only a few paranormal doctors in the area and the only paranormal thoracic surgeon. Unfortunately, she caught the wrong kind of attention and was drafted into the New God Army. Even worse, her involuntary conscription would probably last for the rest of her life. The old gods and the new gods had already been fighting for hundreds of years, with no cease-fire in sight. Petra’s seven years of service at MASH 3063rd located on the plains of Limbo already seemed like a lifetime. It was the same routine, day in and day out, the daily surgeries and treatment on wounded and dying soldiers, all casualties of a senseless, never-ending war. Until one dying warrior changed everything. When the handsome Captain Galen of Delphi died on Petra’s table, she made an extremely rash and impulsive decision. She saved his life by yanking his soul back into his body. Yup, you read that correctly. Dr Robichaud was half-fae and possessed a secret but very powerful gift. She could see and communicate with the dead and her special ability was a big no-no with the gods. If they found out, she would be as good as dead. Galen had been in critical condition and she’d hoped he wouldn’t remember. But he did remember and now he’s convinced that Petra is part of an ancient prophecy to end the war. Too bad Petra doesn’t have any faith in Galen or the prophecy and with good reason. Well, I guess it’s fortunate then that Galen refuses to give up on the lovely doctor who has stolen his heart. Petra has already lost enough and she’ll fight fate to the bitter end! Let the battle begin!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! This book had everything I enjoy in a story. It’s filled to the brim with action, adventure, suspense, mystery, angst, romance, humor, romance, wonderful characters, shenanigans, and hijinks galore. And a whole lot of baby swamp creatures! Lol... You’ll just have to read the book! Would I recommend it! You bet and I am, but maybe only for ages 16 and above. There are a few curse words. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases the next book in this trilogy, which is only a few weeks away! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! ...more

I know jumping into a series without reading the previous books is a bit of a no-no in the minds of a lot of bloggers and authors alike but I enjoy the challenge of diving in midstory. I think it says more about an author’s ability to carry the story and get the reader involved if you are still able to follow the plot without having the backstory. Angie Fox was able to do just that in book #2 of Monster M*A*S*H. While the reading of the first book would obviously have given me more detail, it’s I know jumping into a series without reading the previous books is a bit of a no-no in the minds of a lot of bloggers and authors alike but I enjoy the challenge of diving in midstory. I think it says more about an author’s ability to carry the story and get the reader involved if you are still able to follow the plot without having the backstory. Angie Fox was able to do just that in book #2 of Monster M*A*S*H. While the reading of the first book would obviously have given me more detail, it’s always fun going in blind and I didn’t feel that I missed much by not reading #1.

While I thought the premise of including mythology would be interesting, the world-building was much more than I imagined it would be and I don’t just mean because it happens to have two suns and hell vents. This is a vibrant world in between the warring lines of the Old Gods and the New with a number of fun, quirky characters. Petra isn’t the most unique persona of the bunch by any means. Her tent mates are a vampire and a vegetarian werewolf. Her ex is a shapeshifting dragon. Of course, you already know there’s Medusa who, yes, can still turn people to stone with a look. There’s more. A lot more.

The romance here was a bit interesting. Her ex has been gone for 10 years and she’s finally gotten close to someone else, only to have that someone else walk away after he’s called back into the action. He’s decided that she should be free to be happy, whatever that looks like. She’s heartbroken naturally, but even more, shaken when the ex, Marc shows back up especially since he let everyone think he’s been dead for a decade. Not only that but he needs a specific set of skills that she has, and he has to take her beyond enemy lines to use them. I wasn’t so sure that I liked him but he definitely grew on me as the book went on.

Romance isn’t all that Translyvania Twist has to offer. It truly has a bit of everything. A bit of mystery, humor, and some good snark kept me turning pages. It’s clever, witty, and entertaining while still managing a good bit of darkness and occasional broodiness.

I give Transylvania Twist 3.5 out of 5 propellers

I'm not going to lie, I have no idea how I feel AT ALL about Marc's reappearance. While Petra's life has admittedly been thrown into turmoil (not just by the prophecies, either. Thanks, Galen.), the fact he let her (and his family) believe he's been dead for the last 10 years is a hard one for me to work my head around. Plus, I liked Galen. You know, right up until he started making decisions for her.

Absolutely overjoyed to be back with these characters, I loved the first book in this series so much, that I was so happy to be approved for this too. I actually enjoyed this book even more than the first, I love how geeky these books are . I love Petra, even if the romance in this book had me worried, where is this going, who does she want, no spoilers read for yourself and I need book 3 now to find out more. I love this series. Petra is still at the MASH unit but with the truce between the Gods it’s a different place. When Medusa comes in for prenatal cate Petra takes the case when others are to scared. One night Mark shows up!! That’s right Mark her supposed dead ex. Mark needs her help. Mark is trying to solve what his former boss was working on. He is worried it’s a weapon of mass destruction. Poor Petra can’t figure out her feelings for Mark but decides she has to help if it will save others.

After breaking into the enemy base Petra learns so much about their tactics and plans. This is where I thought the plot would lie within. Learning more about this mystery mineral and how the enemy plans to use it against them. This airborne virus that they want to use to eradicate humans and level the playing field. Finding out the meaning to the single prophecy. An editing error really threw me for a loop and I’m so happy I read this with a buddy who told me to go on. My copy looks to end at 86% followed by a “join us for the final installment.” Blah blah but the next page was the next chapter, if not for my buddy I never would have known and I wouldn’t be editing the rant side of this review lol. A few issues are tackled and a few are left hanging for the last book. Petra and Marcs experiment is nearly turned into a human killing virus but was luckily thwarted by a meddling goddess. I will say I still think a lot goes over petras head. Its like she’s super smart but lacks common sense and misses the easiest things right in front of her. I certainly enjoyed this book a lot more than book one and found it pretty exciting. I loved seeing Medusa as a scared expectant mother. And I especially loved seeing the priests hell hound show his true form in defense of Petra. I’m hoping all that’s been left open concludes in the last book, particularly Petra’s relationship status. I mean will she even get a HEA with either of her men? Not sure I have a favorite at this point but how and who will she choose, remains to be seen. Things with her and Marc seem to be turning serious but what will that mean if Galen returns? ...more

This is a unique series about a MASH unit during a war between gods. Can one mortal 1/2 fairy and a demi-god make a difference in the course of the war while finding love?

I have been a huge fan of Angie ever since I stumbled across her Demon Slayer series, which by the way are wicked good books. Check them out!

The second installment in the new series, sequel to Immortally Yours, has everything Angie's fans have come to love about her writing/stories - humor, sexiness, and action. She's highly creative with her characters and plots. Example - a pregnant Medusa. Yeah, wrap your head around that one. :)
