The Potty Boot Camp: Basic Training for Toddlers is a unique new toilet training method developed by Dr. Suzanne Riffel. The Potty Boot Camp works for nearly every child because is combines the most successful and enduring toilet training techniques.
Short. Concise. Make sense. Going to start next week when my portable training potty arrives.
Also, was SHOCKED and appalled by this excerpt:
"Do you know that the average age of toilet training has increased every single decade for the past sixty years? Here are some truly amazing statistics: On average, in the 1940s children began training at four or five months! In 1946, Dr. Spock published his famous child-rearing book that discussed waiting until children could sit up at seven to nine months old. At the time, this was a scandalous and shocking concept! In 1957, 92% of children were toilet trained by eighteen months. Human biology has not changed - just societal norms."
WHAT!? My son is 18 months and we're getting started now!
It's a nice, short book. (I've often wondered how people can write these huge tomes on potty training). I like the prep time ideas of incorporating the toilet into the day before you begin potty training and will start that right away. I won't start the boot camp until right after his second birthday (only because that's when I'll have the vacation time to take a couple days off for it), so that will give me a few months to get him used to the idea. I don't know about the amount of naked time this book recommends, but I have a carpet cleaner. lol
My son is 2 and using the potty "seed" has been planted in his brain as early as 1. Before we started potty training I read this book. Its short and to the point. I was reluctant to use bribery but it has worked. We still on week 1. He has pooed in the toilet - something he has never done- everyday (except in daycare) But this whole weekend he did great and yesterday he stayed at home and had no accidents. Within a day or so he was asking to go to the potty. Dont waste your time on buying books and B&N, this short e book is great!
I love that this book is short and to the point; however, I did not necessarily agree with some of the negative reinforcement. We'll see if I am brave enough to try this in the coming weeks. If not now, Christmas break, but the idea of diapers only at nap and bedtime just sounds sooooooooooo great.
This is a very to the point book about potty training and I really like that. I tried potty training my boys and it didn't work out great, but I'm blaming some of that on, I just don't think they are quite ready. I'll probably retry this method in a few months and I'll let you know if we have success or not. It seems like it should work. It seems like a good way to do it.
I think this is the best book for use in potty-training. I love the step by step, day by day instructions. I also like that it is adaptable to your child and situation. I would recommend it (I already have, multiple times) to anyone that wants a little help potty-training her child.
Very short and to the point, no nonsense. She basically combines every method of potty training together and gives you a schedule to follow. I think I will give it a go with my 3 year old and see if I can't potty train him before he turns 12 :)
good book. if I followed it exactly I'm sure it would have worked. the ideas I did try worked well. I would like to try it "by the book" this next time around with my girl.
