I’m the son of Liam O’Reagan, next in line to wear the crown. And when I prove myself worthy, I will RULE over the Irish Mafia. I don’t have time for distractions—much less time for a woman who has always been the bane of my existence. When Maeve comes back into my life, I fight like hell to resist the pull she has on me. An attraction that has only grown stronger with time. But, when trouble lands her at my feet, I take the opportunity to have what I truly want. I offer her a deal. I’ll help her, but the cost will be one night in my bed. One night of submission. One night to have her completely at my mercy. If only I had known my battle with Maeve would start a war.
Maeve
Jack is the only one who can help me. Too bad, he hates me. But I have no choice but to go to him. It turns out, hate is a powerful motivator, and I just handed him a way to punish me. He offers me his help—for a price. Everything in his world has a price. One night in his bed. He’s everything a woman would want, so this should be easy. Only, I’m a virgin, and he terrifies me. I should run, but I won’t. I can’t. I just pray this one night doesn’t destroy us both.

This was supposed to be dark and gritty...but really wasn’t all that dark and gritty. Also, the h was kind of annoying. Plus, plot holes. And weak mafia.

Wow. I was invested and enthralled by this story. I felt like every page was peeling away another gift presented to me. Sounds cheesy, but I was that bewitch.
Jack is dark and intense, but still open and vulnerable towards Maeve throughout the story. I liked that he seemed ruthless to others while keeping that cool facade on the surface, but could not control himself around Maeve. I have to say that Maeve, surprised me. She surely deserves MVC (most valuable character) in this story. She is not thrown in the best circumstances but still manages to keep her head above water. Not only that, but she definitely feared Jack, but the author gave us a balance of weakness and strength when dealing with Jack. This is good for me personally, because it’s the pull and tug when dealing with a dark character that I like. Their chemistry was just right and I loved it.
Secondary characters. Good. I was not bored or felt too many characters were being thrown at me. I was not only invested in the main and secondary characters but the story and where it was taking me. I am looking forward to book 2.
Overall, this was a good dark mafia read for me that check the majority of my boxes that falls in my personal preferences and taste. This book has triggers and violence so be sure this is the book for you.
***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I know we all have different opinions and taste with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

Maeve needs money fast her addict brother has run up a debt and unless she finds the cash in 24 hours she will be put up as collateral. She turns to childhood nemesis Jack O’Reagan heir to a criminal Irish mafia family. The deal is simple one night in his bed and her debt will be cleared.
Jack has always coveted Maeve but believes because she is an outsider she’s off-limits this deal changes everything and now he finally has her he has no intentions of letting her go.
Maeve has few choices open to her so a deal with the devil which is how she sees Jack seems her only option now this choice throws her into a whole new reality where her only options are sink or swim. But as she spends time around Jack her feelings deepen and she finds herself in for the long haul.
This is an enemy to lovers story and it was a fast-paced easy page-turner. It’s Irish mafia so does contain a lot of murky darkness and blurred boundaries. Jack definitely grew on me he is basically a product of his upbringing and criminal lifestyle but he does have a softer side one that Maeve gradually brings forth.
Maeve could be a bit annoying she’s always running headlong into danger without thinking of the consequences but I did like her she was basically in over her head and just reacting on her instinct. I enjoyed this a lot and am definitely on board for the next book in the series which I believe is Shay’s. Darkness wise this one is quite mild though it does deal with dark events the romance itself wasn’t really that. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Mafia Prince.
I enjoyed this book and liked the main characters. I felt so bad for Maeve especially with her family situation but I also greatly respected that love she had for her brother Declan. I think she was a strong character in her own right especially in regards to her family. Jack was not always kind to Maeve but when I read his POV I could see why he acted a certain way. Whilst he wasn’t as dark as I prefer my anti hero I think his character was suited for Maeve and he was what she needed with the hard and soft facets to his character. The suspense was good but I have a feeling it’s not over yet. All in a all a good read with likeable characters.

I gotta say - that cover is HOT! It captured my attention, but this book... it captured my heart. I was hooked from the very first page.
Maeve and Jack were great together. She was soft and caring. Always putting other's needs before her own. The peacemaker of the family since they were beyond dysfunctional. Jack was broody and ruthless. He could never show any weakness. He is was too tough, too hidden. He was raised that way. Raised to be a King.
Maeve has only one person to turn to for help. She has heard stories of how Jack has helped with people's money problems. Her selfish brother owes some bad people lots of money. Jack offers to pay off her (her brother's) debt. Her payment for that --- one night in his bed. With no other options, she signs the paper. Signs herself over to this man... this man that she has secretly had feelings for most of her life.
I didn't care for Jack in the start of the book, he slowly grew on me as his many layers were stripped away courtesy of one girl who always had his attention. One girl who he was told to never interact with. One girl who he has always wanted, but knew he shouldn't.
Good thing he didn't listen. I truly felt like he cared for Maeve. Even from the start of the contract, but I don't think he told her enough. You could tell by his actions, but I needed his words too.
Overall, it was a really good read. I'll for sure check out book 2!
Audiobook review. Jack and Maeve were a complicated couple. Jack was slated to become the leader of the Irish mafia. He was raised in a way that was somewhat cold and detached but underneath that he’d been harboring feelings for Maeve. Maeve also had complicated feelings for Jack. While there was attraction there, Jack hadn’t been good to her and her new predicament placed her directly in his destructive path.
The plot took us through both external and internal conflict. It ranged from expectations to loyalties and many more themes in between. Definitely a complex range that made the story more interesting. I found myself quite frustrated with Jack and Maeve at times because had they communicated better a lot could have been avoided. Both of them are quite stubborn. They made a ton of assumptions about one another’s motives instead of just asking. But alas that is the nature of fiction.
Michael Gallagher and Sara Jane Rose did a good job with their narration and characterization. I’m not experienced enough to speak to the authenticity of the accents but they sounded good to me.
Looking forward to listening to more from this series.

Maeve ♥ Jack! Absolutely loved this one! Nothing was missing from this story! There was steam, blood, death, twists, turns and the best ending ever! Don't get me wrong, this book has a lot of triggers but still I enjoyed reading each and every page!
I've never read a story by Vi Carter but wanted to try something that was very addicting. Mafia Prince was for sure the best entry into this author's books. The characters were absolutely addicting and engaging. I was hung on every word. While the back story of the characters and the histories of each family and the respective family dynamics took away from the story a little, I was completely brought back in by Liam and Maeve. I enjoyed their back and forth.
While I did hope for more grovel from Liam, I was still hooked. I can't wait to read more in this series! ~Ratula, 4 stars!
Plot Summary : Maeve and Jack have always known each other and have hated each other too. Now years later Maeve is back and her family is in danger. With a family of addicts , she is the only one who can save them. And her only hope is the boy or rather the man who has hated and demeaned her since her childhood.
Jack had one thing drilled into his head and that was his hatred of the girl next door. Maeve was the perfect girl who always thought of her as above him and he loved to bring her down. Now she was in his trap and there was no way he was letting her go until he got what he wanted.
Overall Opinion : The book was fine. I won't say it was phenomenal but it was fine. The hero Jack was one Hero who I hated in the starting. The things he said and the way he demeaned Maeve in the starting was so unattractive to me. He had a bit of character progress but I still wasn't impressed.
Maeve was an okay heroine , I expected a bit more of a fight from her , but she did have her moments at times, so that was satisfying for me. The storyline of the book was slow in the beginning and at times a bit boring to me. The suspense at the end was good and I am still excited for the book of the next character!
Final Verdict : It was a one time read for me. The hero was not that appealing to me. The storyline was good. I am excited about the next book from this world of characters!
“My beast is a destroyer and wears two faces, one given by Jack O’Reagan and the other by dear old daddy.”
Maeve Reilly has had a hard life. Her dad stepped out when she was just a girl leaving her with an addict of a mother and her brother ended up a junkie. She knew she was different when her best friends older brother said some horrific things to her sending her running back home. That’s our first introduction to Jack O’Reagan.
Some time later, Maeve’s brother is neck deep in addiction and owes people 12k. He either pays up or they’re coming for Maeve’s body as payment.
No help from her parents, Maeve turns to the one person she doesn’t want to see... Jack.
This is a story of two people from different worlds who hate and love each other. There’s twists and turns in this story I didn’t see coming. Maeve finds herself in a peculiar contract with Jack to which she accepts all to save her brother she desperately wants to save.
No cliffhanger. An HEA. Second book will be out with two new characters as the main roles.
This is going to be a fantastically dark, deceitful, and deadly series! I LOVE IT! ****** Overall Rating: 5 stars Steam: 3 flames Genre: Mafia / Dark / Enemies to Lovers Standalone: Yes Triggers: Yes ****** This story is not about one but two damaged souls finding their way to each other. Jack, the Mafia Prince, who has faced a horrific childhood in preparation of becoming the Mafia King. Maeve, abandoned by her father at an early age and left with a mother who was nothing but a drunk, and a drug addict for a brother. These two have both endured and/or committed countless atrocities but somehow they keep surviving. Mafia Prince begins with Maeve coming home from college for the weekend. As she enters the door she sees a mess all around her. Dirty dishes, empty liquor bottles, and cigarettes litter the house. How did her life end up like this? As she walks through the filth, she hears crying and what she walks in will change her life forever. Her brother is a bloody beaten mess on the floor, her mother is crying in the corner, and there are two unsavory people in the room. What she discovers is her brother is in debt to the two men for a lot of money. The two men decide that Maeve has 24 hours to come up with the money, or she will pay off her brother's debt on her back, in a brothel. Maeve has nothing and she is desperate to save her brother, and not end up in a brothel. So she does the only thing she thinks she can, she goes to Jack O'Reagan, to ask for help. She was close friends with Jack's sister growing up, until Jack said some horrible things to her and pushed her away from his family. And this is where the story starts really getting good....Jack says yes, on one condition. She pays her debt by sleeping with him, one night, anything he wants... Mafia Prince is dark, deadly, filled with secrets and double crosses. This book was amazing, and I couldn't put it down once I started, I just had to know how this would all end. The story and plot are fantastic. The characters are both hateable and loveable all at the same time. I hated and loved Jack and his cousins and uncles, though Jack's dad... I only hated. My heart went out to Maeve who was barely surviving, and the hope she continued to have that she could save everyone. The path Jack and Maeve are going to take is going to be tough as hell, and they will have to let go of their secrets, share their past, and learn to trust one another if they want to survive. I have never read Vi Carter before, but based on this book, I am going to go hit up her backlist and not so patiently wait for the next book in the series. This book made my dark heart pitter patter, and get all my dark and depraved recommendations.
The Prologue let me know what kind of vibe to expect from this story and it got me excited. Maeve’s past was something she tried not remembering especially when it involved Jack O’Reagan! But she needs his help and isn’t sure he’ll help her due to their past. Jack has always know that he was meant for greater darker things. So he becomes whom he needs to and that has helped him to be able to deal with what is thrown his way. So when Maeve comes asking him for help on something that she has no control over, well it seemed like leading a sheep to the butchering block, figuratively speaking. Their love hate relationship and Jack’s alpahness with Maeve made this story thrilling and sexy! We get to see Jack’s darkness so a little warning. Kara~ 4 Stars
** Intriguing, wild start to a new series…
Mafia is very much my jam these days so when I heard Irish, Mafia, and romance you know I was all in. There is something about the darkness, the tension, and the drama that brings that entertaining spark to a love story. And I could tell the O’Reagans were going to be a handful as Jack and Maeve’s courtship played out. Huh! Courtship I said? A bit of a stretch but at the end of the day it was a love story….
Maeve was in a tough spot. She was the responsible one in the family and when her brother had his back against the wall, she fought to get him out of it. At the end of the day, he was her bright spot and she would do anything for him but little did she know what the price would be for Jack to help her.
What followed was a wild ride between hate and love, with every emotion in between showing its face. The darkness was tempered by the relationship of Maeve and Jack, as unsettling for them as well as myself. Maeve was a contrast of innocence and world weariness as she faced the realities of her family’s decisions. Jack was on a quest as well. His life was deep in the mafia life and every step was a political, business and family one. I loved how these characters were not black and white, far from it. The tension and anxiety permeated the pages as secrets and decisions played out around every twisty turn.
I felt this was a family story with heated elements of romance playing a minor role. This story was finding love where you least expect (and want it) and of loyalty above all else. While Maeve and Jack found their even keel, there is much left unsaid and a lot to discover about this family. I will be at the front of the line to find it all out! ~Diane, 3.5 stars
This is my first read of this author. She brings a dark Mafia tale to life in the green hills of Ireland. This is the first book of the series so there is some world building happening. Lots of characters introduced but they all play a role at some point. Interesting family the O'Reagan's
Maeve has her own history with the O'Reagan family. Dana is her best friend and Jack is her best wish. She has bad memories of him from her youth but some of her good memories are also of him. When she needs help to get her brother out of a mess, Jack jumps on the chance to have Maeve in his debt.
Spending time together only brings about their true feelings. Together they are pretty explosive.
Quite a bit of time spent on Mafia work. Jack and his cousins are trying to set up for the next generation. Should be interesting to see how the agreement plays out. I hope we get to see 4 great HEA as part of it.
Loved the secondary characters. Looking forward to reading more about this family.
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
3.5 stars - Jack O’Reagan has created quite the situation with Maeve Reilly, his sister's childhood friend. OK, fine, he didn't create the situation, but he certainly took advantage of it. Even though they are both horrible liars and keep plenty of secrets, I mostly liked this. They are also awful communicators, even as he publicly claims her, which drove me batty.
There isn't an HEA for them here. There are storylines that will continue into the next book for another couple. Maybe we'll get more than heated glances and misunderstandings there. Here's hoping! 🤞
This was intense and gritty, and despite a few plot holes (the other bad guys didn't care that Maeve was under Jack's protection??) I was glued to the page. But I had to dock a star for the ending, it just didn't seem to fit
This well-written somewhat dark mafia romance is a splendid start to a new series & it was a pleasure to read. The plot has a rather fascinating “enemies to lovers” undertone that is quite suspenseful & highly entertaining. The characters are strong-willed & have distinctive, individual personalities that have attributes of loyalty & determination when faced with certain situations. It is about: a ruthless Irish mafia prince (Jack O’Reagan) is approached by his sister’s (Dana) childhood friend who happens to be an innocent young woman (Maeve Reilly) & asks him to help save her brother (Declan) & herself. He gives her an ultimatum that she has no choice but to accept but Maeve is no simpering Miss & gives him some unexpected problems. There is: friendship, family issues, mafia, twists & turns, action, intrigue, drama, deceit, betrayal, threats, danger, enemies, conflict, violence, attempted assault, secrets, memories, manipulation, defiance, humiliation, anguish, emotional turmoil, misunderstandings, heartache, complications, steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed reading this mafia romance & would recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre.
Oh my goodness!! This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more! This was a fantastic mafia story with craziness, action, but also steam and some sprinkles of sweet thrown in. Jack, our mafia prince, was alpha as can be but a big softie when it came to our heroine. Maeve was a great heroine. She tried to be independent but had an attachment to her family that caused some issues for her. I loved their chemistry from the beginning, good and bad. The story flowed nicely and I lived every bit of it.
Mafia Prince is the first book by Vi Carter that I have read, and I enjoyed every word. I loved following Maeve and Jack's enemies to lovers story with mafia suspense mixed in. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2 of this series.
Mafia Prince is my first Vi book & I need more of this series ASAP!! Jack is a King in training & he owns every piece of that title! He is a broody and dangerous alpha hole ;) but omg he has a heart of tarnished gold! He proves it with everything he does for Maeve {swoon}🖤🖤
I need Shay’s story stat:) Can’t to see who will bring him to his knees❣️

MAFIA PRINCE is the first instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS dark, erotic, Irish Mafia, romance series-a spin off from the author’s WILD IRISH series. This is heir to the East throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly’s story line. MAFIA PRINCE and the Young Irish Rebels focuses on, and introduces the next generation in the Irish Mafia.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Maeve and Jack) MAFIA PRINCE follows the acrimonious relationship between heir to the throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly. Fourteen years earlier, Maeve Reilly was best friends with Jack O’Reagan’s sister Dana but Maeve was an ‘outsider, was not a member of the Family, and therefore not a suitable playmate, and in this Maeve was pushed out of Dana’s life by the man with whom she would later fall in love. Fast forward to present day wherein, college student Maeve walks into a nightmare, and the only way to protect her family, is to face the boy, now man, who destroyed her heart. Enter Jack O’Reagan, heir to the East throne of the Irish mob. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jack and Maeve, and the potential fall-out as Maeve is fodder, and collateral damage in a war between father and son.
Maeve Reilly’s dysfunctional family is slowly destroying itself from within. Her father left years before: her mother is an alcoholic, and her brother owes thousands of dollars to a local drug dealer. In an effort to save her mother, and the brother she loves, Maeve knows that to ask for help from the Irish mob means to give up her life, as she knows it as she becomes payment for a debt owed. Jack O’Reagan has lusted after his sister’s best friend Maeve for as long as he can remember but kicking Maeve out of Dana’s life was only one step of many in Jack’s trial to take over the family crown. It is only by coincidence that Maeve is pulled back into Jack’s life, and with it, the promise of a few nights turns into something more but Jack’s own struggle with his place in the Family is about to place Maeve in the direct line of fire.
The relationship between Jack and Maeve is an enemies to lovers, forced confinement / proximity affair when Maeve relinquishes her freedom to protect her brother and mother from further harm but Jack refuses to give up or give in, and demands more time with Maeve, in an effort to persuade the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense.
There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting character including Jack’s parents Svetlana and Liam (Merciless / Heartless-Wild Irish #4 & #5), Shane and Una (Vicious-Wild Irish #1), Connor’s son Shay (Ruthless-Wild Irish #2), Darragh (Fearless-Wild Irish 3) and his son Cian, as well as Maeve’s brother Declan, and their mother Jane.
MAFIA PRINCE is a story of family, power and control; of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, hope and love. The premise is gritty but captivating; the romance is tragic, aggressive but passionate; the characters are broken, haunted and wounded.
This book was deliciously dark. What I learned is that Jack is a pretty simple man. Work, work, work (and by work, I mean killing and training to become the next King). He sees life in black and white, no shades of grey, that is until Maeve re-enters his life.
Following his reasoning and doubts showed the depth of his past trauma and how it made him the man he is now. Jack has done some pretty terrible things in his past and is more than a morally grey character. Yet Maeve has been drawn to him since they were kids, even when he was being cruel and nasty to her (before he became fully corrupt).
Their relationship is a real roller coaster and nothing, I repeat nothing, is settled, even when we think it will be! Maeve is continuously questioning if Jacks words mean anything or if they are just that, words.
Maeve can never seem to get a break. She is ALWAYS picking up the pieces of everyone around her; her brother, her mother, even her own dang heart from which her father shattered. And oh yes, picking up after the cat too while picking up the house. Her life is just.... a lot for one young woman to handle. The one good thing she has going for her is college.
This does not end on a cliffhanger, it’s a standalone. However, it’s the first book in Ms Carter’s new series - The Young Irish Rebels. I can tell you that there is definitely rebelling going on. Things are about to change. Hows that saying go...? Out with the old and in with the new! ~ARC copy for honest review~
growing up near each other, Jack's younger sisters best was friend Maeve, until the Mafia King of East Ireland and the Prince, Jack, decide that it was unbecoming to befriend those beneath their level. Maeve grew up in a volatile household with a drunken mother, cheating father who left and abandoned them, and an older brother, Declan, who was the junkie.
One weekend, Maeve came home from college to find out her brother owed $12K. she decides her fate is no longer in her hands and goes to Jack who creates a contract: $12K for one sexual experience on his timeline.
quite the stage setter. With this being the first in the Young Irish Rebels Series, a lot of characters and sub characters are presented. This includes Shay, Mafia Prince to King from another part of Ireland. his numerous uncles and cousins who each have parts to play on Jack's path to being able to pass all his steps to proving himself worthy to become King.
Maeve and Jack come to grips with their wants and desires that they had pushed aside for years. Their enemies to lovers story is beautifully written with twists and brutal turns to their HEA. Deceit, secrets, and lies hidden throughout.
Looking forward to the next installment that deals with the arranged marriage (no spoilers on who).
Maeve really has a rough background. Her dad leaves her family and her mother is an alcoholic and her brother is addicted to drugs. She is trying to go to college while also taking care of her family the best she can. I felt really bad for her. I was a little frustrated at the same time because she feels like she has to take on their burdens and puts herself in a bad situation.
Jack is the typical alpha male. He also has a somewhat spoiled mentality because he is expected to take over from his dad. I really did enjoy his relationship with Maeve. While there was drama, the two really compliment each other.
Before reading this, I realized that this series was really a continuation of the series Wild Irish which features the parents of all the kids in this book. Having read that series prior to this one really helped in the understanding of some of the characters and why they are the way they are. While it's not necessary to read these beforehand, I would highly recommend it.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and it is a dark Irish Mafia read that will have your emotions all over the place. Our two main characters have known each other since they were young kids. Our hero Jack is a man who is working hard at becoming the next King. When our heroine Maeve comes back into his life he sees an opportunity, and makes an offer she simply can not refuse. Watching these two realize they are perfect for each other was great. Jack going all ALPHA and basically telling Maeve she is staying was kinda hot! I love reading a good enemies to lovers and this book is just that. I did feel for Maeve she has had to deal with so much, and for the reality of some of what she thinks is true is heartbreaking. There are many twist and turns in this book. Just when you think you have it figured out the author does an amazing job of throwing a wrench into what you think you may already know. This is a great start to a new series and I am looking forward just to see how some of deceit plays out.
Mafia Prince by Vi Carter is a Dark Irish Mafia Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose. This is the first book in the Young Irish Rebels series.
This is the first book of Vi's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Maeve and Jack. Their relationship was messy but you couldn't help but root for them.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Mafia King to be released on audio so I can get Emma and Shay's story.
Michael and Sarah did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would highly recommend this book if you love dark romances, mafia romances, or romantic suspense.
3.5 stars Standard mafia romance, story was good, some engaging elements, though not overly distinctive. The appeal was the two main characters' previous history and how those shaped their love story -- enemies to lovers beginnings in which Jack's distain and his preconceived notions of Maeve shaped his interactions with her as well as her unawares of this animosity. The story was couched on a sexy deal, “do this in exchange for,” within their unbidden attraction while in the arc of Jack's rise as a mafia king. Story was well-written; character development, great; pace could have been faster; some steaminess. Jack was alpha but not growly or too demanding; Maeve was altruistic, calm, with a bit a spunk. All in all, an easy read with a hint of dark that would appeal to mafia romance readers who prefer a traditional story, more contemporary romance to dark themes.
