I’ve been many things in my life.
A liar.
A cheater.
A thief.
And I’ve never had a problem with any of it.
I knew my path, knew which direction I was heading when it was all over—straight to Satan’s lair.
I accepted it, reveled in it, and always asked for more.
Nothing would change me, no one could sway me.
Or so I thought. I knew I was a monster.
I just don’t know how to convince Cara Gibson that I’m her monster.

This was one dark and intense read and talk about this story being full of dark and vile monsters, this story had them in spades. The story is dark and intense but, it also has more than a few surprises and all is not what it seems. I have to say that the story put me on edge from the moment I started turning the pages and as we continued turning the pages the entire time, we were waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time. Cara and Javier aka Thumper met under heinous conditions but, from the moment Thumper saw Cara his protective instincts were put on high alert and she felt something although her instincts had her thinking herself crazy.

Overall the story was a nice addition to this ongoing series as this MC is unique, and their women are as well. I wish that I had felt the connection between Cara and Thumper the way the author implied it, but, nonetheless, they seemed to be perfect for one another.

Thumper might be described as a dark romance by some but to me this was more of an emotional and heart wrenching storyline. Yes there were dark moments but it was all intertwined with passion, protection and survival. Thumper and Cara meet under the worst situation where monsters lurk and you are not sure who can be trusted. Their story takes you on an intense roller coaster ride where you are torn between judgement, shock and empathy. As secrets are revealed and the truth is laid out, it will be a war between the mind and the heart that will need to be fought. My heart ached for these two as they both suffered in different ways. Thumper might have felt like a monster but to me this man had a heart the size of Texas. Cara was a young woman who had suffered at every turn and still she held hope and she had a strength that I don't even think she recognized. These two characters will hold a special place in my heart as their story took hold soul deep. A story that is powerful, affecting and passionate that also has a steam factor that you just don't except. It is also captivating and heartfelt and will leave you with not only a huge smile on your face but also eager for the next book.

God, I Love the Men of Cerberus!!

I can’t believe how the men of Cerberus keep getting better and better. It didn’t seem that Javier/Thumper could ever be a part of this group of men who make it their mission to help those in need especially when he was part of a sex trafficking ring. What?!! You’ll have to read to find out how that is even possible.

Cara has run away from a cult before the leader and her step father was about to make her another of his wives. You would think she had dealt with enough in her life but then she’s abducted only to be sold into the same sex trafficking ring Javier is a part of.

Don’t let all of this fool you though because there is so much behind the scenes that will leave you with your mouth hanging open. This book was intense with so many secrets, deceptions and steam that I couldn’t put it down. The lead in to the next book in this series has me waiting on pins and needles because this whole series is amazing!!

Didn’t even make it half way

This book was such a disappointment! I did not find Javier/
Thumper redeemable at all, had to give up before I made it even past the first couple chapters. Maybe it got better, lots over other reviewers seem to think that, but I just couldn’t swallow the beginning of this story. Good luck!

This book was nothing like what I was expecting and wow what a ride it was. This won’t be a read for sensitive readers but if you can rust the journey it is well worth it. I loved Javier/thumpers character and his mental struggles with the persona he had to play and fighting his attraction. Cara character was so strong and what she went through and her and her struggles. Truly this was a masterpiece and I was moved with the length of the build up and the trust process.
Definitely a highly recommend read

The only reason for the four stars vs five is because of the darkness. It took me several starts and stops to get past the bad to find that one of the main characters was good. Still love this author.

I always love a great MC series!

I always enjoy a good MC story and this one did not disappoint.

I loved how this story ended for both Cara and Thumper.

I must say this was hard at times to listen too. Subject matter was hard and emotional at times.

Narrators did a fantastic job telling this story.

Very unique for this series- loved Thumper - read on KU

If you are checking out reviews, you may be like me and filter out so you read all the 1 star reviews first. At the time I am writing this, there were 2 and neither of those made it past the half way point with one making it not even that far. The were no 2 star reviews. The only 3 star review called him an antihero. Even before reading those, knowing what I knew from the previous book, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this book. I expected to hate it but I was wrong. I kind of expected to be writing a one or 2 star review myself.

In response to those reviews, you know you are going to be reading parts where Thumper is a human trafficker. The books starts out with Cara getting kidnapped and then you get to the point where the 6 women are at his house and Thumper is derogatory towards the women hut immediately, you know he is treating the women better than any human trafficker you've read about. You are definitely suspicious of his behavior. People who buy other people want them to look unabused to begin with. They want to be the ones to harm them and break their spirits, so, at least in the very many books I've read, it seems the person who originally sells them wants them healthy enough to be sold and to bring top dollar. It isn't surprising for those people to clean them up a bit and treat their wounds. You see that here.

For the reviews that said it was disgusting, I think they were reacting off what they expected and not what they actually read. There were only a handful of scenes that were harsh. The behavior of one of the captives was more appalling than some of what Thumper, of Javier, did.

Thumper is no antihero. Antiheros are people who are bad people but do good things. Thumper is a good person who does bad things and he definitely has his reasons.

Where I fault Ms. James in this story is she doesn't do enough to build a connection between Thumper and Cara. I also fault her for reusing the name Cara, unless my memory is incorrect. I'm pretty sure the woman Griffin made a mistake in sleeping with in his book was named Cara. She was someone he dated in high school who was then married. In the beginning of this book, Cara is talking about forced marriage and at that point, I'm thinking she wasn't the bad person you assumed she was in Griffin's book. Thinking on it more now, I think her husband was named and that he was out of town in the earlier book and in this book, she would have to be in hiding from her arranged husband and if I think on it, obviously she wouldn't use the name Cara if she was hiding. That brings me back full circle to my disappointment of the reuse of the name. For that matter, for a while I was thinking Cam that is with Samson was that Cara before I actually got to that book.

I would have given this book 5 stars if it had been fleshed out more. That's been true for every book in the series. Almost all of the books had aspect to the stories that were left dangling. At least leaving those things out kept stupid angst from breaking up their relationships. And it definitely helped in making the pages fly by.

Almost all of the cover models are a mismatch to the characters. Maybe Scooter's cover model would have made a better cover model for this book. The guy on this book cover is awfully pale for someone named Javier (Thumper).

I look forward to Apollo's book in September. Looks like he is going to get exactly what he wanted from Izzy.

From the moment I started reading this book I knew it was going to be a tough journey full of unexpected twists and turns. With a main hero whose actions made him hard to define, to a heroine who experienced so much pain, it all led to a captivating story that put me through an emotional wringer. Though this book is part of a series it can be read on its own, but I think that reading everything that came before would give you greater insight into Javier "Thumper" Sosa and Cara Gibson as well as the darkness surrounding both of them.

Javier's a man who's lived a life of blood, damage, and dark deeds. It's a life that he makes no excuses for, but all isn't what it seems when it comes to this man who has a hidden heart of gold. As part of a sex trafficking ring Javier's seen numerous woman's lives changed, but seeing Cara changes everything for him. Actions that he once undertook as part of his job now have him feeling like a prisoner, forced into deeds that now leave him feeling dirty. As the story progresses though the truth about Javier becomes even clearer and readers will be left conflicted when it comes to their feelings for him.

Cara's definitely left conflicted by Javier as their attraction flares to life while she's locked in a cage with him the caretaker. It's not the first time her life's been in the hands of another as she grew up in a cult where she was going to be forced into marriage at the age of 18. Running away from one danger has ultimately led her to another, but through it all I was drawn to this tough as nails heroine. She's withstood a lot and is ready to fight once again for the man who many would see as a villain, while she sees something more to him than what he shows the world.

In a story of second chances, making amends, and finding a future separate from your past comes this gritty read full of surprising twists and turns, a story full of unforgettable characters stuck in difficult situations that will keep you glued to the pages. This story touches on some difficult and timely topics, making the connection between Cara and Javier a bit difficult to accept and believe in from time to time. Some moments felt real and heartwarming whereas other moments had a Stockholm Syndrome vibe to their scenes. Despite my feelings regarding their romance, I still found this a powerful read, a dark and gritty story that kept me on the edge of my seat. After sixteen previous installments, Ms. James manages to take this series in a completely new direction. From an antihero who you root for one moment while despising the next, to a group of secondary characters who have left a tempting and lasting impression on me as I eagerly await the next installment, Ms. James has crafted an exciting read that I highly recommend! By the turn of the final page fans of MC-themed books will want to immerse themselves in the Cerberus MC courtesy of its larger-than-life characters, suspenseful storytelling, and storylines that will keep you guessing.

Okay, for everyone who has read Marie James just know this book is a much darker side of her work. If you know the Cerberus boys then you know it could be downright messed up but the author tends to leave that to the readers' imagination. If you are new to this author just know she took a walk on the dark and vile side of humanity where you do whatever you have to do to survive; No matter who you are.

Now, that being said I was downright impressed by the depth of pure humanity the author poured into our antihero Thumper. That man was headed for a breakdown. You wanted to like him but really all you could do is read 60% of the book detached wondering when the other shoe is going to drop.

Truly this book in my opinion was not a romance at all. Sure Thumper was attracted to our heroine but honestly she was only attracted to him for safety reasons and maybe a little Stockholm Syndrome. Even in the last 40% there isn't a real connection even though the author tells us there is. I didn't even get a sense of insta-love. What it really reminds me of: two people who go through a traumatic experience together and lean on each other for support and/or comfort because they have no one else. The experience is their bond. Still, an awesome work. Loved seeing the author step out of her comfort zone.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good read but much different than others in the series.

First I want to say I love this series! Have read them all so far & plan to continue to read the rest. However, I was not sure I wanted to continue to read this one after the first couple of chapters. But knowing the author’s style I couldn’t not finish it. It has twists & a good story but just a little disturbing in the topic & a quick change of tune in Cara for all she went through. It was my least fav in series so far but knew I had to read to continue the story for Apollo, who I think I will love like the rest of Cerberus!

THUMPER is the seventeenth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic MC, romance series focusing on the Cerberus MC. This is Javier ‘Thumper’ Sosa , and nurses aide Cara Gibson’s storyline. THUMPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cara and Javier) THUMPER follows in the wake of the abduction of several women including our story line heroine Cara Gibson, women who are about to be sold into sexual slavery. The man in charge is none other than Javier Nolasco but Javier’s secrets are about to be exposed as there is more to Javier than anyone could know. From rape and starvation, to abduction and imprisonment, six women find themselves caged in cells, as one by one each is taken, never to return. As the story line begins to unfold, we witness Javier’s gentleness when it comes to the women, a gentleness that hides a secret Cara quickly realizes is something more. A rescue by the FBI finds most of the women alive and unharmed but Javier now finds himself a prisoner of the local cartel, and one woman is brave enough to approach the Cerberus MC to search for their former brother in arms.

Cara Gibson knows the trepidation and fear of being sold to the highest bidder having escaped a life in a religious cult. Meeting Javier, and knowing what he does, meant Cara sacrificed one prison for another, until she finds herself falling for a man who was about to destroy her life. Javier Sosa knows that it is only a matter of time before his secrets are revealed, and with it the possibility of losing it all. Falling to Cara Gibson was never on the horizon but Javier knew that Cara was the woman that called to his heart.

The relationship between Cara and Javier begins as captor and captive but Javier is biding his time until he too, can escape, the life he no longer ‘enjoys’. Cara hates Javier for what he does, and the thing he represents but when the truth is revealed, Cara knows that Javier’s job was to protect them all. The $ex scenes between Cara and Javier are intimate and seductive but their physical relationship does not begin until Javier and his colleagues acknowledge the legitimacy of their deeds.

There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including number of the previous story line couples. We are introduced to Lauren ‘Lola’ Vos, mercenary Angel, as well as several girls abducted with our story line heroine. The requisite evil has many faces. Apollo and April’s story is next.

THUMPER is a dark and gritty sensitive story of secrets and lies, sexual slavery, misogyny, power and control, revelations and forgiveness. The premise is haunting and twisted; the characters are broken, tragic and edgy.

A fantastic story

I have to say that I was quite confused at the beginning of this story, mostly because it took me a bit to remember the end of the last story and how it lead to this, and by then everything seemed to slowly fall into place. For those of you who do remember right away, beware: it's still going to be a huge shock! I'll give all props to Mrs. James, she truly knows how to create an intriguing, mind blowing story that grips you with everything it has right from the beginning, and doesn't let up until the very end. There are a few questions that I still have, mostly regarding other characters that were involved in this story, which I'm hoping will be answered in upcoming books. Another warning, that was one heck of a huge bomb dropped at the end! Lol! I am really looking forward to the next book, and can't wait to see how it all plays out! (Of course I'm always thrilled and trying to wait patiently, or not so patient. Lol!)
If you haven't already read the rest of this series, I would highly recommend that you start from the beginning, especially prior to reading this book. It's not necessary to read this one, but you will have a better understanding of the characters, their backgrounds, the connections between friends/family/& couples (of which there are many!), the club and members, and the dynamics between all of them. Each story is unique, suspenseful, mysterious, angsty, but in the end it's the camaraderie, loyalty, respect, and the unconditional love that's shared within this unconventional family that will keep you coming back for more. Ok, maybe the awesome characters, hilarious banter, and crazy antics have something to do with it as well! ;) All in all, each book is absolutely fantastic, and you certainly won't be disappointed!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, sadness, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Kincaid (Cerberus MC, #1)
SINdicate (Cerberus MC #1.5)
Kid (Cerberus MC, #2)
Shadow (Cerberus MC #3)
Dominic (Cerberus MC #4)
Snatch (Cerberus MC, #5)
Lawson (Cerberus MC 2.0 Second Generation, #1)
Hound (Cerberus 2.0 #2)
Griffin (Cerberus MC #8)
Samson (Cerberus MC #9)
Tug (Cerberus MC #10)
Scooter (Cerberus MC #11)
Cannon (Cerberus MC, #12)
Rocker (Cerberus MC #13)
Colton (Cerberus MC #14)
Drew (Cerberus MC #15)
Jinx (Cerberus MC #16)

This is Cara and Javier’s story. Cara was taken and is about to be sold into sexual slavery with other woman. When she is rescued she is relieved but it does not end there. She fell for her captor who she knew was going to eventually hurt her. But when he is captured by the local cartel she goes to the MC in which he was a member and pleads for help in getting Javier back. She saw the gentle way he was with everyone and believes he needs help. Once the MC gets him back these two have a lot to overcome. He was hiding a lot of secrets and they all start coming out. Can they survive the fallout? This story may have triggers for some so be aware.

I recommend this book.

I have no words for this book. When I started this book, it was so deceiving, but the more I read the more I was like what is going on here…

Cara Gibson left home at 17. She lived in a cult that her mother was apart of and she was not going to be forced into a marriage at 18. So she left. But things didn’t go her way. She thought her life was going okay until she walked home one night and then she got kidnapped into a sex trafficking organization. This is where she meets Javier…

Javier ‘Thumper’ Nolasco was a member of the Cerberus MC until he betrayed them when they found out he was a sex trafficker. But as I soon realized things are not what they see 😊

This book had me twisted. Just when I started hating Javier, something else happens or secrets are revealed and I change my mind. In the end he is not the monster I thought he was. And the job he has you could see was taking a huge toll on him. This book will have you totally confused but in a good way in the end… I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading until I got to the end 😊And you will be left wanting more when you get to the end of this story 😊♥

Thumper
By: Marie James

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Review

Marie James adds a new edge to Cerberus MC with Thumper, and it’s deliciously dark…

Thumper is lucky number seventeen in the Cerberus MC series by Marie James, and it takes readers on a deliciously dark turn that will knock your jaw to the floor, and keep your fingers flipping pages. Javier is not the man he is supposed to be, he is much…much worse. Some would even call him a monster. Cara has been on her own since she was seventeen, running from one nightmare only to fall into the clutches of a different kind of monster. Will she ever see him as something other than her tormentor, a monster…or will he forever be her living hell?

This has to be one of my favorite books in the series, hands down. Marie James knocked me on my rear in the first two chapters, and I spent the rest of it learning how to breathe again. It was raw, dark, and oh so real. The riotous emotions jumped off of every page, and lodged right in my chest. The only disappointment was that there wasn’t more of it. I could have read a hundred more pages about these two and the twisted tale they wove. Bring it on, Ms. James…we can take it.

Marie James really switched things up with Thumper as it's definitely a bit darker than the norm. I honestly don't want to give anything away, but I'll come off a few things. Cara hasn't had the easiest life as her mother was a tool, and now trouble does seem to follow her despite the fact that she just wants to accomplish things on her own so she doesn't have to ever rely on a man. Her life takes another great leap when she's in the wrong place at the wrong time while trying to help a co-worker out. It leads her to being in a cage because of a man named Javier, as this book has a more up close & personal look at human trafficking. It's a topic that breaks my heart, and since I don't just read Marie James' books, I experience them, I was a wreck while reading because of the things that were intense & filled me with rage (thankfully my favorite foul mouthed bird gave me some comedic relief LOL). I'm trying so hard to not say anything else because it would certainly give things away but you just don't know until you know & for you to know, you must hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Thumper is book 17 in the Cerberus MC series. It’s told in dual POV. I’ve been waiting for this book since the last words of Jinx’s book and let me tell you, it was just as great of a continuation of the series as all the books before.

Thumper/Javier is a man of many names. Cara is a woman who has been dealt many blows in life. When they meet each other it’s under extreme circumstances. He can’t get her out of his head and she can’t think of anything but him. Their story starts off in a dark place and the journey out of it is hard won.

I had many thoughts about how this book would go and as I was reading I had to remember that Ms. James always comes through with a great story and a wonderful HEA in the end and once again, she didn’t disappoint.

I don’t want to let any spoilers slip but I will say that the men of Cerberus will do anything and everything to make sure their family and those they consider family are protected and taken care of, they always have each others backs.

Thank you Ms. James for another wonderful book and I can not wait for Apollo!!! That lead in was a jaw dropper!

Thumper (Cerberus MC #17) by Marie James Review ♡
5✨
3🌶

I loved this book so much!!! I have read most of the series and they are all just so enjoyable. This follows along Javier and Cara, who are the cutest couple. I just love how in love he is with her and how in love with him she is. I also love how they gave each other the same amount of fight. In the beginning, I thought she was meek but she was feisty and strong in the end.

I also love how protective Javier is of her and the chemistry they have between one another with the passion and sexual tension also. I love how he can barely keep his hands off her, like when she was taking care of him and his injuries, I thought that was so sweet but also filled with so much sexual tension which I am here for 😂

I also really enjoyed how he felt conflicted over the bad things he had done in life and wants to be a good person even though everyone else thinks he is. I also love how the story covered deep issues and wasn’t just surface but also had depth and didn’t rush through the storyline. I just love these two so much!!! I wish their story could just go on and on 😅

This book was so well written and I just loved it so much, as I do with most of the Cerberus MC books. Everyone check out Marie James, she will definitely not disappoint!!

I don't know what this was, but it wasn't a normal Cereberus book. While I luke when the storylines are different, this was just horrible.

A secret comes out regarding Thumper and what he really does. It involves sex trafficking and it was drawn out for far too long. I found it boring and honestly wanted to fast forward. There was hardly any chemistry between the characters at all, and I'm not sure I'm even on board with Thumper being forgiven for his actions.

I don't know how Cara went from being bought and threatened, being held in a cage, living in fear, to trusting and eventually falling for Thumper. The thing is, is once they were back at Cerberus there was zero buildup. It was like they just fell into bed and feelings and I just didn't buy it at all. Too much time was put into the first half of the book and none where it mattered to actually connect the couple.

I get it must be hard to come up with engaging storylines after so many books, but these are just starting to lose the whole feel of what they were in the beginning.

There was more spice, more chemistry between the characters, and not as much angst and filler. Many of the early books had epilogues, not cliffhangers that try to pull you into the next book. I'm starting to lose interest.

At the end of Jinx (Cerberus MC Book 16) I was left with a very sick feeling about Cerberus member, Thumper. And when I started reading Thumpers story I became so terribly disappointed in this Cerberus member. But I'm glad that I didn't give up on Javier, aka Thumper, or his story. There's several interesting characters that help build a story that you can't quit seeing. A story that for the most part, doesn't even touch the headline news of our daily lives. I applaud Author Marie James for how she addressed not one, but two issues. I also loved how her characters were resourceful and interwoven! Thumper is ranked right up there with my Cerberus MC favorites, Kincaid and Dominic!
Surely after 17 books in the Cerberus MC series, I'm not the only one that wants to be a part of this motor cycle group in New Mexico! The acceptance and love from the club and in the clubhouse is something we all crave!

After that cliffhanger of an ending in Jinx, I was so excited to read Thumper and it did not disappoint! It was much darker than any of the Cerberus MC books and honestly, I didn’t mind that one bit. Thumper is a man conflicted after his time with Cerberus and poor Cara is just caught in the middle of something much bigger than she realizes.

This story is a darker love story with no fairytale illusions. We have the darker side of life and finding love in unique situations. It’s an amazingly written story of overcoming pasts and looking forward. I love that the situation that brought them together wasn’t glossed over but embraced as a part of their story. Thumper and Cara are unique from the other Cerberus couples but still the same in many ways. Speaking of Cerberus, I enjoyed seeing the club members and getting a sense of how they felt about the Thumper situation and it’s resolution.

Overall this story was great and I am so ready for Apollo after that ending!!

Not going to lie, I was a little worried about the journey Marie James was going to take us on. The set up for Thumper in the previous book had my anxiety up before I even started page one of this book.

I should have known that Marie James would take us through the twists and turns but always bring it around full circle.

Javier never thought he would find himself so far away from the path of life that he saw for himself. The beloved name of Thumper seems so far buried below the horror that is his life now.

Cara escapes a terrible childhood, struggles to land on her own two feet as an adult, but then finds herself in a worse nightmare. The only problem, something just doesn't seem right about her captor.

Can two people who meet under the worst of circumstances find a way to see only the good? Is it possible to move forward after the horrors they lived through?

You never fail Marie James. Job very well done!

Another great Cerberus Read. Ms. James’ series brings us a protective group of bikers who work as a type of mercenaries (the good kind). These men take on cases the government can’t “legally” take on. However Thumper was a new twist to the series. It really took this reader on a crazy ride and I loved every minute of it. So you know, it starts out in a dark place (could be a trigger for some). But if you know Marie James' writing style, you know she’s not only got a plan but her style is always done in as tasteful and respectful a way as is possible depending on the situation. Nothing could be more true in Thumper. The book had me wanting to scream, shout and say OMG what’s going on. But it also made me hopeful for a happy outcome.

I can’t recommend this book and the entire series enough. If you haven’t read it and like MC romances, this is a Must Read series. It’s definitely in this reader's top 5.

OH wow, After reading the previous book and seeing what happened I wasn't sure how Thumpers story would play out and honestly Marie James outdid herself. Thumper was a previous member of the Cerberus MC but they thought he had betrayed them.

Thumper meets Cara as a nightmare time. The moment he sees her for the first time she catches his interest and she makes him question EVERYTHING.

Once I started this I was hooked, i could not put this down until i had uncovered all the secrets and had finished this dark and twisted tale. I dont want to give anything away in this review except to say that you MUST read this.

Marie James has outdone herself on this deliciously dark and twisted tale, that is darker and grittier then usual but is so good. The secrets, lies, twists and turns mixed with love, loyalty, and redemption makes this a page turning read.

THUMPER is book 17 in the already amazing series CERBERUS MC written by the talented author Mary James. It can be read as a stand alone biker romance but it's my opinion is more fun if you've read all the books in the series before this one. In this story there may be triggers for more sensitive readers, so you've been warned. Also the story line is told from a dual first person point. This is Javier ‘Thumper’ Nolasco & Cara Gibson’s book, a very profound, obscure and powerful but also at the same time passionate, captivating and heartfelt story. After reading the story I have to say that it was more than I was expecting, it was remarkable. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! Loved reconnecting with characters from previous books in this series. GREAT JOB Marie James!!! NO SPOILERS!!! I recommend it highly. I'm waiting with bated breath for the next book!!!

Blew me away!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My goodness!!! I am a HUGE fan of the Cerberus MC series and LOVE every single one of them. I really was not entirely sure where this book was going to go. Especially with the introduction to this book from the previous one. This book blew me away.

I will admit that the first couple of chapters, I had to stop and put the book down because I became distraught. No spoilers but there will be a point in the book that those first chapters will make sense.

Javier/Thumper and Cara meet under horrible circumstances. The twists and turns their story takes had me dizzy! I absolutely adore Cara - she’s an amazing character. Thumper had to grow on me. By the end, these 2 are clearly meant to be and I love them together.

April (Cara’s little sister) makes an appearance at the end and I’m so excited for her and Apollo’s story. These Cerberus MC men can’t seem to stay away from trouble. LOVE IT!!!!

Cara managed to escape one lifestyle she didn’t want only to find herself abducted and being forced into another lifestyle she doesn’t want. She has seen what happens to the people around her and knows that will be her fate as well if she can’t escape. She should have nothing but disdain and fear for the man responsible however those aren’t the only feelings she has for him.

Javier’s ties with the Cerberus MC ended when they found out what activities he was involved with of which they wanted no part and couldn’t accept. He is drawn to Cara in a way that is both unexpected and inconvenient but when the situation takes a turn he didn’t expect that his captive would become his defender.

Cara’s strength and resilience shines through with everything she has endured in the past and the present and while Javier is dark and dangerous, we find out there is so much more to the man and his story than we realize.
