I’d craved an ending for as long as I could remember. An ending to the crippling hurt, the blinding rage, and this sense of confusion and loss. I didn’t know who I was. I had no identity. I just hated.

Until her.

With one small flame after another, she lit up my path toward redemption and showed me a life worth living. It was how our love story began—without fanfare. Just a

Ugh. I don't want to be known as a miserable reader, yet here I am, miserable as ever.😖

Shall I just rate a book and shut my mount? 🤐 I wish I could, but I feel guilty for not to explain why the story didn't hit the mark.

So, here I go: (view spoiler)

This book is as beautiful as the cover and inside it contains a romance which reflects it perfectly.

It's rare for me to read an MF romance but Cara Dee is one of those authors I know will give me a true equal relationship where neither one is perfect and both stumble along the journey to happiness.

Here, it's made more complex by a number of my favourite tropes, including an age gap, and a character choosing to redefine themselves to be better for their own benefit, not just because of love.

Get ready for some serious discomfort at the beginning of Her All Along. Avery starts out more bitter than unsweetened cranberries and needs therapy in the worst way. There are some triggers to watch out for, (view spoiler) ...more

Cara Dee can write it, and I will read it. Chapter 1 of this book was uncomfortable. Avery is in a BAD place in his life, and he makes quite a few decisions that I honestly though "how is she going to redeem him from this?"

But she has made me uncomfortable before and made me LOVE the rest of the story, so I wasn't worried.

I feel like the issues here weren't addressed enough for me. It was all almost "forgotten" as that time in Avery's life where he lashed out from pain.

If this isn't a story of epic life changing love I dont know what is. When we meet Avery he is in his late 20s, and divorcing his wife because she wronged him and he wants to hurt her. He is not a very likable character in the beginning. He is angry, states that he hates women and has a very traumatic past. He is rude to basically everyone in his life, everyone except for 12 year old Elise Quinn. Elise is one of the two adopted daughters in the Quinn family, both she and her sister Willow are on ...more

I didn’t know what to expect this books when I read the disclaimer. However as usual this author does not disappoint. Somehow the author endears you to her characters flaws and makes you love them. I hurt for the MC. But the MC brought him back to life in more ways than one. I like this author’s approach to characters flawed and every day people making it work. I did not expect the outcome until about half way through the book. You would expect Avery to be the one to accept Elise, but it was Eli ...more

Urgh. I love this author but I can’t read any more of this. This was a big miss for me. YMMV.

Holy moly this book is brilliant! I was offered an ARC and I don't generally do MF reads but it was Cara so I said yes and she didn't let me down!

Avery and Elise's story is wonderfully written, grabs you emotionally right from the first word and makes me want to go back and revisit all the Camassia stories again.

A definite 5 star read!

Her all Along est une nouvelle pépite signée Cara Dee !

I was a bit apprehensive about reading this one but knowing it was a Cara Dee book, I knew I had nothing to worry about. Her All Along covers some extremely difficult subject matter but it’s written so beautifully which makes you feel invested in the story more and more.

The beginning does start a little on the dark(ish) side. Avery is introduced as being in a very dark head space, after suffering an incredibly traumatic childhood and now going through a messy divorce he is seen to be contemplat

After suffering a horrific childhood and then being betrayed by his wife, Avery Becker is at an all time low in his life.
When the two women that should be the most important and safest ports in your life, cause the most damage, all women get painted with a broad bitch brush.
That is until she crossed the yard.

Avery made me want to cry, rage, laugh and love him with every word I read. Cara Dee has such a way with her words that the reader feels everything all at once. Her All Along has triggers fo

Another amazing book by Cara Dee. Now, I say that a lot with Caras books but this really has surpassed her other stories for me. Im absolutely in love with this book, and it will be a regular reread.

This had me gripped from the first page, Avery is in a bad place and you completely feel for him. Your emotions will be on a rollercoaster ride with Avery and his story. Theres such a large timescale in "Her All Along" but it doesnt feel dragged out, youre not overloaded with information and its all

Incredible. Excellent. Fantastic. Heartbreaking. Hilarious. Sweet. And Sexy. So Sexy.
There are many ways to describe Cara's latest book, but since I'm not allowed to spoil it for you, my options are limited.
I'm not normally a very patient reader, I joggle several stories at once. Slow burn is therefor generally not my thing, and in this book the build is so slow I swear I saw snails race by as I was reading. And, dear readers, that's exactly how it's supposed to be. When they come together at th

Avery is complicated. He’s a heartbreaking, glorious tangle of emotions and impulses and thought processes that make for a volatile, deeply sympathetic character and a compelling reading experience. This isn’t to say Avery is a saint— he isn’t. He makes bad decisions, but somehow never manages to push readers away. I think the first-person narration helps with this, as his inner voice shows us an awareness that would be lacking in a description of his actions alone. He’s easy to get invested in, ...more

It is unfortunate that I'm not that good of a writer myself because I can't give Cara and this book enough credit. Cara has a gift for writing, and I'm so glad that she is willing to share that gift with us. I love how she writes.
This book gave me all the feelings and let me experience all the emotions. I have laughed, been angry, cried and fallen in love with the characters. The blurb doesn't give anything away but by reading the first words on the first page I was hooked. I also love how Cara

As I had no real idea what this story was about I didn't know what to expect. What the reader gets is an unexpected beautifully written gem of a story. Cara writes stories and characters that feel real they are not perfect and their flaws are on display for us to see but those imperfections only make you love them more. Elise has such a sweet soul and she is probably not going to be what you are expecting. At the start I hated Avery almost as much as he hated himself and I always feel it is a te ...more

Avery Becker had a bad start in life, actually the foulest life a child could or should live and it had affected his opinion of women. He had the scars to show except he kept himself covered! From the age of twelve he'd grown up in the care system and studying was his main focus. He'd made a friend Jake Quinn in College and through him he'd also gained the rest of Jakes family. He'd married but his wife had caused him to feel that he had been right to think that most women were not to be trusted ...more

This book will make you cry, laugh and yell at some of the characters. The character development of Avery is very well done, you will love seeing him grow and the relationship between he and Elise grow. If you only read Cara's books for the hot sex scenes you might be disappointed, of course there are some but not for a while. This book covers many years in a way I enjoyed, it flowed naturally from time frame to time frame. There is some angst, however it is manageable, there is also some subjec ...more

This book was a gripping, emotional rollercoaster, and all around phenomenal book. I had a really heard time putting this book down to adult. Avery and Elise have had a special relationship and after years, feelings changed and they grew even closer. I truly did not know if this was going to end with a HEA but OMG the HEA was heartwarming. There was some trouble times in Avery's past that may not be for everyone but it gives an insight into how deep Avery feelings are and helps you understand hi ...more

I just have to get this quote off my chest, lol.

“A hobby of hers was to find typos in books and boast that she’d do a better job. The fact that she didn’t have an English degree or had never worked in editing didn’t seem to matter. I watched her highlight a paragraph in an old senator’s memoir. ‘Imbeciles,’ she muttered. ‘Seven typos in 260 pages.’”

There. 😂

Do yourself a favor and read this book! Don’t look for the love interest in the first few pages. Don’t look for it when you doubl

Going by the beginning one doesn’t expect a happy ending, but then one also has to remember that Cara always leave us readers with a happy ending for everyone of her couples. The relationship between Avery and Elise has been different from the.beginning. He got her like no one else could and that includes family with the exception of maybe her sister Willow. Elise excepted Avery for who he was and then some. The feels are a plenty, but there is also humor there as well and the read from beginnin ...more

What an amazing story. This book is more than romantic story. At the beginning of the book, we met Avery at his lowest point. He suffers from depression and suicidal thoughts. I have to say I wasn't expecting HEA from this story, but Cara Dee writes so well and I felt bad even doubting for her. Avery and Elise have a very special relationship from the start. To me, it was very special to witness their journey together. So worth it.

Trigger warning for depression and suicide.

Phenomenal!! Avery and Elise’s story will grab you from the beginning and not let you go until long after you’re finished reading! They are two totally real and flawed characters, sooo good. The story was very well written, characters are well developed and fleshed out. This story kept me enthralled, sooo good, highly recommend!! The story was raw and gripping! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.

I loved Avery and Elise, oh how i loved them. I loved their story and their relationship. Once i started this book i couldn't put it down, it just hooks you in straight away and doesn't let go. Avery and Elise, they're perfect for each other, they're what the other needs, they just need to realise it, it takes abit and it doesn't look like it will happen. I really enjoyed watching them work throught their issues (their own indiviual ones, and as a couple. ...more

Oh My Goddd!
Her All Along was one heck of an emotional read.

“Would I find peace? Or would I just....fade into nothingness?”, this line in chapter 1 (the whole of chapter 1) totally set the tone for the whole book. I was captured and completely drawn into this story.

I felt all these characters feel, the ups and the downs, the love and the hurt and everything in between.

Do yourself a favour a pick this book up and jump into the amazing world of Camassia Cove.

Good lord but the first chunk of this book about ripped my heart out but leave it to Cara to put the broken pieces back together in the best way. I don’t read much MF fiction anymore but I will always give Cara the benefit of the doubt because no one can write a story with real flawed characters like she can

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Cara Dee writes a wonderful world with lots of people you can’t help but live and hope for the best for them. This book is no different from that. Everyone in the book will blossom and become people that I would want in my own family.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is an absolutely enthralling slow build read.
Avery and Elise will take you on a journey that spans many years as we see them lean on each other, grow together and eventually reach a point where they mean everything to each other.
Heed the warnings in this book as they may not be to everyone’s cup of tea.
One of Ms Dees best works to date.

Tells the whole story

Took the time to really tell the story.. Loved Elise autistic view and how she expressed herself, her logical rants were amazing. I love how naturally their love story grew. Been waiting a long while for a M/F book from Cara Dee and this one did not disapoint.

This was a powerful story of redemption written in Cara’s loving style. She doesn’t beat around the bush with the hard topics and a relationship (of any kind) doesn’t solve all the problems.

This book covers several years & the characters have to put in hard work in their personal lives as well as their relationships around them. There’s an understanding both Avery and Elise have of each other that shines the brightest throughout each of the pages. It’s not any huge *sign* that makes a differenc

I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to
