About Me

I love deserts, which is too bad as I live in Scotland, but the mountains, glens and lochs more than make up for it. My other love is Greek Tragedy, especially Euripides, and I also read history, science, fantasy, and pretty much anything about the Beatles…

I absolutely adore the "Magelands" series by Christopher Mitchell! It's an enchanting journey filled with unforgettable characters and a gripping plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

Mitchell's series is a true masterpiece, drawing readers in with its exceptional character development and captivating storyline. Despite not being a fiction fan, I found myself completely engrossed in the world Mitchell has created.

The characters in "Magelands" are incredibly well-crafted, each with their own distinct personalities and growth arcs. Mitchell's attention to detail brings them to life, making them feel like old friends by the end of the series.

The plot is full of twists and turns, seamlessly blending fantasy elements with real-world themes. Each book adds new layers to the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with its relentless pace.

What sets "Magelands" apart is its ability to provide a truly immersive reading experience. Despite my usual preference for non-fiction, I couldn't put these books down. Mitchell's magic system adds an extra layer of intrigue, making the series both captivating and thought-provoking.

I devoured each book in just a few days, eagerly awaiting updates and craving more. If you're like me and typically shy away from fiction, I highly recommend giving "Magelands" a chance. It's a literary gem that will leave a lasting impression on fantasy lovers and skeptics alike.

Very good read

This book is a great continuation of the previous series. The main characters return in what is a great story.

My only criticism would be the upgrading of both the good guys and bad guys powers is a bit unbelievable and the fact that life seems to continue, although a little less in this book than the previous one, in the face of horrendous losses of life.

Other than that this has great characterisation, places are well described another small criticism is that the battles could be better described.

The ending is a bit anticlimactic.

Fast paced with well-developed characters

My only issue were the grammatical issues, which tend to happen with the digital versions of books (kindle unlimited version). Otherwise, very captivating with mystery, action, magic, and emotion. Highly recommend the series.

Magelands magical fantasy

Really enjoyed reading this series. Loved the flaws in the characters and the strong female leads, and the realism of some big characters not surviving. Thoroughly recommend this to all lovers of fantasy and can’t wait to read more.

Addictive

Can’t believe I read all eight books, but I found them so entertaining I couldn’t stop. Don’t get to attached to any characters because they just die, however unexpectedly I mourned and mice on, it kept the reading unpredictable and honest

A hugely good read

I read the first four books in this set in record time, this second set even more quickly. In spite of a multitude of characters, tribes, special “talents” it is immensely readable & if you haven’t tried fantasy before, Mitchell is your man.

Fantastic

Honestly can't put this book down. I'm spending every free moment reading. There are some complex characters, some you grow to like and others you never do. The stories intertwine cleverly.

Sensational!!

Rarely do I buy series because the 2nd set usually isn’t near as good as the 1st.
This series is the exception!
