Why is it always so difficult to review a book you love? What can I say about Mydas that is deeper than “OMG, YOU GUYS, I LOOOOOOVED IT!”
Let’s see… Mydas is a futuristic retelling of the myth of King Midas… No, that’s not right; it is so much more. Mydas is a conversation about love, life, choices,… No, not good enough… aaaagh! This book broke me!
Nowadays, there are few writers that are able to bleed into their pages. Jon is among them. His passion can't be contained when he writes. He is woven in every single word he writes.
The book is rich with plot, and the characters are so vivid you can hear them talking. I loved how, throughout the conversation between Kent and Midas, you can feel their relationship changing. I loved how every detail in the narration was important.
The book contains two short stories that are equally great and a “bonus track” at the end. All the stories are set in the future, but Jon’s imagination creates a world so vivid that it’s difficult to believe he didn’t actually travel through time for research.
This book deserves all the hype and some more
