Title: ➳ Into the Dark Series: ➳ Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Author: ➳ Emma H Frost Published January 14th 2021 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ LIVE
ღ I am going to keep this simple & to the point
I found an awesome new post apocalypse series! The characters are intriguing and I Personally! Love love love this read! And recommend 100%.....4 stars only cuz it had cliffhanger
The second book picks up exactly where the first book stopped.
If I thought the last book left me with a lot of questions, this one left me with even more. The story was captivating & the characters were very interesting & believable…I’m going to be honest here I’m not sure where Nick place is in this series… I guess we just need to wait & see where the author takes us next
📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book.
➦* Note: ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review. This has not influenced my review!
Great book from a new author. Characters are interesting. Read the prequel, because a surprise happens in the first few pages that will leave you confused if you haven’t. I wish it was longer, but eagerly awaiting the next book!! I definitely found a new author I love.
This is a very short 60-page first installment in the Into The Dark series. It's YA post-apocalyptic, I love post-apocalyptic but loath YA, but the Apocalypse Whenever Book Club is reading it so I gave it a shot.
The book starts as an apocalyptic event strikes New York City (and who knows where else) and covers a week or so after. It is told through the eyes of three teenagers who were on a school field trip with a secondary point of view through the eyes of a paramedic.
It was OK. You have the macho teen jock, the two girls who say "ewwww" and are stuck wearing flats during an apocalypse. I would've liked more time with the paramedic guy. Probably not the book for me.
The second installment in the series is currently only $0.99 in Kindle so I'll have to decide if I'm curious enough to see what happens next for a buck.
I didn't realize this "book" was only 60-something pages. I'll count it as a book read for the year because it's over 50 pages but I will say that this was a boring story that even though there was so much opportunity for it, lacked suspense, tension, and descriptions. A few parts were even completely unbelievable.
Will not read any of the others. Disappointed because I love a good disaster book.
EMP's are one of my least favorite type of apocalypse, so this book had a long haul for me. I was interested in the the paramedic, but in this short story at least, I found the school girls to be a bit interchangeable. I even confused the school boy as one of the girls. I have the next full length book in the series on my TBR, but I may remove it.
This was a fast, quick read about life after an EMP hits. This is a novella and only 69 pages. Well-written and interesting. I will be looking for more books by this author.
I liked this book, the story was captivating and the characters were very interesting and believable. Lots of action and suspense The only reason it was not a five star was the cliff hanger ending. I felt I was being forced to get the next book. I like to read series but like to have the present danger resolved and hint at what adventure is next, then because I liked the characters and writing I will get the next book. I would have gotten the next in this series anyway because I want to see what happens next.
I received an advanced copy of into the dark to read and review. I would definitely recommend reading the prequel, “before the dark”, before jumping into this as it shows how the characters got into their current situations when “into the dark” starts. Into the dark drew me in just as quickly as the prequel did. I read it really quickly because I really wanted to know what would happen! I also got through it quickly because it’s more of a novella or “episode” length book rather than a novel. I like that each of the main characters get a spotlight to tell parts of the story. I love it when books do that. I can definitely relate to how they felt in some situations, ****(mild spoiler)****** my heart ached for Nick in particular with what he had to experience, especially when he was trying to fix things and make it better 😕. I only gave this book 4 stars because it’s a huge cliffhanger ending that just suddenly cuts off, there were a few grammatical errors, and because I would have liked it to be longer so that there could be more details and info in the story. That being said I will still continue with the series and read the next book become i still really want to know what happens! Overall this book was entertaining, I just wish it had a bit more to it.
How would you react if the world ended before you, quite literally the apocalypse? Would you think nothing of going home, finding family? Or perhaps you would joke and make fun, keeping others spirits high, simply walking into another adventure? Or perhaps you just wish to keep you and your friends safe, whichever path you decide to take? Or are you the one to help others, a loner who wishes only to save the world one person at a time? Into the Dark by Emma Frost is a well written story, one that draws you in, not allowing you to put the book down, and leaving you wanting more. The characters are relatable, each dealing with their new situation in different ways. Emma Frost does a great job bringing out each character's traits, showing their humanity, and bringing life to a lifeless world.
Nick comes to in his car and can’t get his wife to answer. Cars are stopped all over the street, babbies and people crying. Nick is a paramedic so he grabs his bag and helps who he can. At the museum Becca and Maddy are helping Mason who seems to have a concussion—everything is broken, no electricity, so dark—they head for the stairs and make it down and look for the rest of the class. The town has come to a complete halt—how do they get home, how do they get food, will they be safe? Very scary thinking about something like this happening. I highly recommend this book.
Into the Dark is a YA dystopian, post-apocalyptic style novel that kept me on the edge of my seat.
The characters are well written, with just enough back story to let your imagination take over. I read this book in a day, I couldn't put it down! My only complaint is the cliff hanger, and how short the book was.
I personally tend to wait till the whole series is out to read because I am impatient, and I can honestly say I am eagarly awaiting the next one to be released later this month!
I am emotionally invested, and I cannot wait to see what this world has in store for the characters!
In her debut, Emma Frost released Into the Dark, a post-apocalyptic EMP survival thriller, on January 14, 2021. No one really knows why all electricity has gone dark or why airplanes are falling from the sky. Three high school best friends stick together in their attempt to get home and hope they’ll survive to get there.
I’m not quite sure yet how Nick, a paramedic, has anything to do with the teenagers. I’m certain they’ll meet up at some point, but right now I’m not sure how the two are related yet. It does, however, make me want to read the next book in this series!
Three students ditch their class during a field trip and thus are the only ones to survive a plane crashing into the museum. They try to reach the home of one of them, not because she's a mama's girl, but because mama is gravely ill and may be alone. A paramedic loses his wife during a massive pileup that occurs when all the cars' computers stop. Himself physically uninjured, he wanders the city helping those he can. With the characters and premise introduced, I'm looking forward to the main series.
Seems like more of a young adult/teen story. That's not a criticism. The main characters are engaging and their actions seem plausible for their age. A minor spelling gaffe, but no major grammatical errors to distract. Good enough for me to want to explore further. I very much appreciate a good story minus obscene language. I do not equate obscenity with realism. The author has great potential for future writing and keen observations on humanity, in all its diversity and commonality.
This is Emma H. Frost's first book, and it's pretty good.
This is basically a novella prequel about what happens just before and as an EMP hits. What I love about it is that the characters' voices seemed so realistic, and you will quickly grow to care for them.
There were some spelling and grammatical errors, but they weren't as bad as I've seen in many books, and I did enjoy the story and will be continuing on with this series when the next book becomes available.
I was given an advanced copy of, "Into The Dark" by author, Emma Frost for my honest review of her first book.
Into The Dark is a quick read about what happens before and as an EMP hits. It is definitely a page turner. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to see if the character's make it home.
This is a good start to the series. I love Post-Apocalyptic stories except ones that include zombies and are not believable. So far this one has no zombies and is believable. The characters are likable and I look forward to seeing how they develop. My only criticism would be that the books is very short. Look forward to the next book.
This YA book could easily be anyone’s book. What a story! The characters are well rounded, the pace quick and the topic totally in time. How are we going to act when the apocalypse hits? Where will you be? Have you got what it takes? Here’s a book that grabs you and shakes the answers right out of you!!!
A very short intense read that will leave you clamoring for more! It is centered around one teen girl, Becca. So many crazy things happening around town with no available explanations~ What will every one do…what can they do? What is going on? This ends on a cliffhanger…cannot wait for the next book in the series. I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
I couldn't put this book down! I was pulled into the story quickly, and felt a connection with the characters. A young group of friends supporting each other while trying to make sense of their surroundings. Not knowing where this adventure will lead them. Looking forward to the next book!
I definitely love this book. It is well written, fast paced with relatable characters. I just couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the sequel and more books from this author. It is absolutely a must read.
This is a very nice quick read. I read the prequel and it kept me very interested. Couldn't put it down!! Nice story, retable characters it does not disappoint. So excited for the sequel and any other books this new author publishes.
This book is edge of your seat exciting. I was totally caught up in what would happen next. The author has such a great writing style, the characters are so real. Why not 5 stars? Unfortunately, it’s a cliffhanger. I am impatiently waiting for book 2 and 3.
3 Teenager's and a man Nick making there way across Manhattan. No power and everything has stopped. They are all headed into the subway system in the Dark!!!
I wanted to know more of what was going to happen next to the three of them. Trying to walk home after the the museum and everything around them had been destroyed. I've got to read the next book to see what happens.
This was a great book. I wish it was longer. I love the characters. They are funny and can be mean but awesome. I think all adult book lovers should read it.
