Broke Girls & Rich Dreams: Volume 1

Rate this book
After serving a four year prison sentence, Zayna Luckett is finally free and dead set on getting away from the lifestyle she once thrived in. However, once a deadline is placed on just how much time she has to make that happen, she’s left with two choices—doing it the way she knows is right or the way she knows best. Her decision only becomes that much harder once she meets Prosper; a man that is the epitome of everything she wants to avoid, yet everything she needs at the moment. Between her past haunting her present, obligations pulling her in deeper, and a younger sister she’s determined to save; there is no telling if Zayna will make it out the life she no longer wants, or if she’ll end up the last place she wants to ever be again… behind bars.

This book was a true urban fiction read! Drugs, drama, deceit, death and a tiny sprinkle of romance. In this story we meet Zay and Prosper. Zay just finished doing a 4-year bid for her ex-boyfriend. Trying to find her way, she moves in with her sister and mother, only for things to go left and catapult her back into the lifestyle she desperately wants to leave behind. Prosper is your typical street dude. Cute, charismatic, with a list of chicks competing for the number one spot.

Once this story gets going, it does not stop. It held my attention from the beginning to the end. It was messy, to say the very least. By the time I got to the ending my jaw was scraping the floor. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!

Loved it! 💕

This was a very good read as I knew it would be because the author never disappoints. Prosper definitely goes on the book bae list. Zay was dealt an awful hand but I’m got things turned out the way they did. She made me nervous toward the end but once I realized what was going on I was ecstatic. I can’t wait for more installments of this series.

This was so good!! She never disappoints!!

Love Prosper!! He was always made she his sister was straight and was loyal. Zayna was like the female version of Prosper once they finally got over being stubborn with each other everything worked out.

Who needs enemies? This was a really good read. You couldn’t help but feel for Zay because she literally had no one. I enjoyed this book but I’m not surprised because this author never disappoints. She always has you on edge waiting for the ball to drop on the next crazy reveal. I can’t wait to read more from them and hopefully soon.

Wow..on so many levels.

I love when a author gives so much depth to the characters in the story it makes the reader feel the pain, love, and other emotions that just makes the book come to life. I loved how storyline and characters meshed so well together.

Bravo!!!

I enjoyed this book from the beginning until the end. This book was just another example of how you can't trust even the ones who are closest to you most times. At times it's your own family that will do the most harm and you learn the hard way that blood doesn't always make you family.

First book I’ve read by this author

I’m impressed, I always have these moments when I’m looking for new authors and it’s a struggle. I can always tell how I feel about them by the overall message of their book, whether I enjoyed the read or not. So not only did I enjoy this book’s characters and overall story, it had a great message with a strong leading lady. The dynamic between Zay, Prosper, and Praise was a beautiful one. As I read the book I kept saying to myself I would’ve enjoyed the book even if Praise was the main female character. It had a great ending everyone got the Karma they deserved. I love the fact that this was an urban “hood” book but the male lead was actually a real one. A lot of these books make it seem like most guys are like Keem and French, and they usually have it so those type of guys some how get a happy ending with the girl that deserves way better than them, so it was refreshing to see a real nigga like Prosper and see him get the ending he deserved.

Great Read

This is one of the most realistic story I have read in a while. I know mother's who are like America in real life and it is pitiful. She didn't have a motherly bone in her body America chose men over her two daughters. She also showed favoritism between Zayna and Odessi. America seem to be jealous of Zayna. While she was trying to demean and dog out Zayna. She should have kept a closer eye on Odessi. Odessi was scandalous. True enough she was young but she knew what she was doing was wrong. Zayna was hardened after dealing with a mother like America and getting caught up with a coward like French. Her level of trust was nonexistent. Meeting Praise and Prosper got her out of the rut she was in. Praise had no clue who French really was until he put her into a situation that could have cost her, her life and freedom. Prosper was smitten with Zayna but he had his ex Jovie started drama. Jovie mouth got her a situation she couldn't get out of.

Nett never disappoints!!

Now Nett, you know this book was scandalous!! Lol I don’t even know where to begin. Zayna had a huge chip on her shoulder but I’m glad she ended up letting Prosper in. He was definitely bae!! Now babyyyy that situation with Dessi was messy as hell! I’m still sad for how it ended for her. They trifling mama got exactly what she deserved! And the situation with Praise and dude (don’t wanna spoil it so not gonna say who) was crazy to! Was glad that didn’t ruin her bond with Zayna. Jo was off the chain ! Lol can’t believe what went down with her. Overall I’m happy Zayna got her happy ending even though it wasn’t all good! Great job as always!!

Yes!!!!

Great read!!! I love Zayna and Prosper together. They were both what each other needed in their lives. Hopefully Praise gets to experience a love like theirs or greater. She is deserving of it. That America tho baby! What kind of mother would ever smh..... Odessi is her mother’s child, shows they don’t have to raise you for you to turn out like them. Thank you for another great read! Way to close out 2020.

I am struggling to find the words! I absolutely loved Prosper and Zay. This book is exciting, and it had my finger itching to turn to the next page. Prosper, Prosper he became everything Zay needed to heal. This story highlight family isn’t always blood, and blood is not always family. Zay was forced to find that out the hard. Antionette did a great job developing these characters, and telling their story. I can’t wait for Praise’s story!

Good read

This was a good read. I’m so happy to have a story where the man wasn’t rich saving the broken girl that was poor. He had more than zayna but he need her as much as she needed him, and she helped him come up more. I’ve been waiting for something like this because all black girls are not poor with bad parenting and need to be saved. All black men are def not rich and out here saving.

Family doesn’t always come first!

Love, lies, betrayal and revenge was pretty much the focus of this book. After Zay spent four years in jail for a crime that wasn’t hers, she came home to a jacked up family, revenge on her mind and totally broke. She was betrayed by the person that she loved the most, but found her happy ending with strangers who became her family. Great storyline.

Sensational

If it’s one author I can always count one to bring that heat! That I never have to worry about if the book is going to be good it’s you! I only have to worry about my pressure and my edges and if I will have any at the end of the series! You never disappoint! Prosper was that man! I need more or something!

Rich dreams in the ghetto

Fast paced drama that’ll have your jaw dropping as the chapters go by. Family really be your downfall at times. Zay endured so much off of lies and jealousy. But remember blood doesn’t make you family. Loyalty does. The Moore’s have that and more. Great read!!

Broke Girls & Rich Dreams !!

Wow I hope this is not the end I need more!! All Zay wanted to do was come home and move on and get back on her feet. America was a hot mess. Odessi got on my nerves being stupid. Keem was a user and so was French. Loved Prosper im glad that Zay chose him great read !!

Another hit

This story was everything. I was rooting for Zay so hard. Her mom and sister were both trifling. I’m so glad that she hooked up with Prosper and Praise. I loved how that sibling duo went herd for each other and allowed Zay into their inner circle. I’m so glad everyone who did her dirty got their karma.

Zay was on my nerves with her rotten tail family they meant her no good and she kept going back for more like when is enough, enough?! Prosper really came through though and him and Kay were so cute! Glad everyone got what was coming to them because they really deserved it.
