This story had mystery and romance, just what I enjoy in a story! Added to this is the skilful way the story was told. Dante D’Angelo and Beatrice Sands have some secrets in common as well as an attraction to each other. Dante is looking for the murderer of his parents in addition to his latest case for the Order. Beatrice was no ordinary lady, she was determined and quite fearless, although she has had a traumatic experience in her past. I enjoyed the way the members of the Order all work toget ...more

Dark Angel is the fourth and final book in Adele Clee’s Gentlemen of the Order series. Each book can be read as standalone story because although we meet the aforementioned gentlemen in every book, each story is fairly independent. The Gentlemen of the Order is an investigative society whose agents dedicate their lives to helping the poor and needy led by Lucius Daventry.
Dante D’Angelo has his own reasons for joining the Order. Having witnessed the death of his parents as a young boy his one dr

A deliciously captivating end to the series!
A cleverly written anticipation and mystery driven romance that really holds your attention, makes you smile at the banter, tingle at the pair's humming attraction and connection and delightfully, if like me, induce you to tears as you wallow in their heart wrenching angst, quest for answers and abiding, slowly blossoming, love.

“He was the book, and she could read this particular page.”

“Dark Angel” is the 4th book in the Gentlemen of the Order series by Adele Clee. As an author, she is incredibly skilled at blending together mystery, mayhem, friendship, passion, and a plethora of emotion to create books that captivate you from the very beginning and keep your attention right down to the end. If you’re at all familiar with this series, you’ll definitely remember quiet, dangerous enquiry agent Dante D'Angelo. As he works

Adele has out done herself on this last book in The Order series. This book is Dante's story and it is dark, intense, mystery with many twists and turns that will have you reading late into the night.
All the books in this series can be read as standalone but better I think if read in order. All four of the gentlemen are in each book.

For the last eighteen years he has lived his life seeking the men who killed his parents right in front of him when he was just eight years old. He now is an agent for Gentlemen of the Order & he has earned his moniker befitting his name, Dante D'Angelo - Dark Angel. He is dark, quiet & dangerous.

Beatrice Sands is the daughter of an enquiry agent. Her father was killed eighteen years ago in same carriage as Dante's parents. She has been hired as the first female agent for the Order & has been in

4.5 stars!

Ever since we met D'Angelo in Ashwood's book DAUNTLESS, I knew his story of salvation and redemption would be the most heart-breaking and the most captivating, and Adele Clee did not disappoint. His childhood was fraught with bloodshed and uncaring matrons that formed him into the careless and ruthless devil of an inquiry agent he pretended to be. However, he truly meets his match in Beatrice Sands;

Really enjoyed this book. I knew Dante’s story would be filled with plenty of sarcasm, mystery, & intrigue - & it definitely is. His code name in the Order fits him well.
Dante D’Angelo witnessed the murder of his parents when he was a boy. The need to seek answers & justice has dominated his life ever since. When an attractive, mysterious woman approaches him @ a party, he’s curious. When he finds out she’s an enquiry agent for the Order, & has been assigned to one of his cases, things get real

I am always looking forward to new books published by Ms. Clee. She has an amazing way with words. In this particular story, she touches the reader's heart and soul while describing the feelings our heroes, two tortured souls, experience. But the story is not all dark and doom. There is plenty of light banter, sensual banter, and (*swoon*) erotic banter between our H and h which is more proof of Ms. Clee's superb writing ability. One can practically feel the air crackling with electricity. And m ...more

4 1/2 stars. Great end to the series. Intelligently written. H/h had terrific chemistry; I loved their banter. The mystery was also well done. Only things that bothered me: h was too quick to give up her virginity after the run-in with her uncle, an experience which, understandably, terrified her. I thought that would have been a good chance for H/h to explore their feelings pre-sex. Nevertheless, they were a very believable couple and I was rooting for their HEA.

Also, I didn't feel a true sense

This story definitely lives up to its name. I think this might be one of the darkest books Adele has written and I loved it! We have seen Dante before and know he struggles with finding out who killed his parents. Will he be able to find out? And who is this woman Beatrice in all of it? She is another enquiry agent and works alongside the Order and is badass. Nothing will get in her way. I loved it! Adele weaves mystery into a love story like no other. A conclusion of the Order, and great setup for a new series!

With signature style, Adele Clee has given us a grand conclusion to this series. And, she’s set us up for a new one.

Dante and Beatrice are two agents of the Order, bound by more than just their work. While Dante struggles with his demons, the calm and logical Beatrice helps him make sense of a convoluted cast of characters in the distant past.

While this book follows a similar pace to others in the series, it does have a little more c

Oh my..... I could give a litany of verbs to describe this story but they would all fall short. Adele Clee at her best, although, I could say that about each tale she pens, but this is one of my favorites. Obsessively focused on finding the murderer who killed his parents, Dante D'Angelo is the Dark Angel, who needs redemption and love. Yes, love, although he only seeks to dull the memories that haunt him. "I'm prepared to fight to the death in the hope of discovering the truth."

Through the series Dante D'Angelo has in some way displayed his frustration and impatience to find his parents' murderer. He's almost always ready and eager for a fistfight to release his barely contained anger at the world.
Enter Miss Beatrice Sands, with whom he is to work on a case of fraud - until he learns she's to help solve his parents' murder. Beatrice is not sure her father was not just a victim; she fears the implication for her if he had been involved in the plot. She is a strong, inte

This is the 4th book in the series of Gentlemen of the Order, but it can be read as a stand-alone book. This book is about Dante and Beatrice who had an incident in their past which bound them together. Together they wanted to solve a crime to give each of them peace. I loved how Beatrice knew exactly how to help Dante get out of his dark moods, and I loved how Beatrice felt safe with Dante. Their attraction grew to love, and they were always there to support each other through all the emotions ...more

Always loved Dante’s character, he’s a dark force of nature with a soft center and a passion for justice and ladies alike.
This book shows him at his best, describing him in both dark and light terms.

His partner is the daughter of a man who worked for his parents and was also thought to have played a part in their murders.
The two grow closer throughout the investigation and discover they have a lot in common as well as reasons help each other find the murderer.

Gripping Romance Mystery!
The Dark Angel is Dante D'Angelo and true to his name he will quickly do whatever is necessary to find out what he needs to do to find answers. Bruised knuckles is the norm for this quiet and dangerous man.
Working alongside him in this story is Beatrice Sands, the first female agent in the Order. Together they seek the guilty party, one who has hurt them both by murdering their dear ones.

Clee is an author who should be read!

Clee is a historical romance author you should be reading. She writes well rounded characters with pasts that make them engaging when read. Clee pulled me right into the story from page one. This last book in the Gentlemen of the Order series is fraught with danger, passion and romance; as both characters have to confront their pasts to move forward with their lives.

Two people with a shared tragic past complement each other. I loved the honesty, the intelligence, and the need to find the truth of both Beatrice and Dante. Dante had that dark, brooding thing going, yet he was quite willing to admit that he was drawn to the light of Beatrice. I did enjoy the return of the Gentlemen of the Order and their wives, plus some new characters to look forward to. Another brilliant instalment in this series. All 4 books are really good and will be well worth re-reading. It was lovely to see how Dante was going to be saved and by who. I even love the titles of these books because they fit each of the men perfectly. Dante and Beatrice are drawn together by their shared tragic past and they put their skills together to solve a heinous crime. Loved it!

Beatrice was the perfect compliment to him.
