Rating: 4.5/5 - An immensely enjoyable read about a little red bird and his tiny lizard… I mean dragon.
This is heavy on the fluff and romance and lighter on the plot. The scheming and court politics aren’t very inspiring and the potential to write much more complex characters, wasn’t fully utilised.
That being said, I still absolutely loved this story and binge read my way through. I also found that the characters not being so OP made the story interesting.
Definitely think Chang E should have had more screen time as she was one of the few female characters that had such spunk and vibrancy.
Overall the MC isn’t really the smartie the author makes him out to be, but he’s adorable nonetheless and I liked him from the beginning. He could have been a bit more fleshed out and wittier but I believe he won more points being a cutie.
Totally recommend reading as a light novel. It’s long at 202 chapters but not boringly so.
This novel is just perfection, I'm a big fan of this author books, and Peach so far has been my most favorite from her. This novel is about a childhood best friend to lovers romance full of fluff and zero sadness, I was in a mood for something like this a novel where both MC and ML love each other immensely and are not afraid to show they love to others. The way they protect each other and are willing to make safriced for they love is one of my favorite things from this novel. The MC is such a fun character, and together with ML makes a great combination, I especially love ML when he is in his "chicken" form. Also, the side characters were amazing and added a lot to the plot overall.
Notes: I really REALLY LOVE THIS NOVEL. I just had to knock one star because there are a couple of chapters that did not sit well with me. (I felt they were unnecessary, and I don't think I'm the only one who was bothered by these.) TBH, I didn't even want to read the final extra because I wasn't ready to let go of that universe. I'm hoping Lu Ye Qian He would write more novels set in this same universe.
