2020 has been a hell of a year. After this year, we all deserve something nice. Enter Pippa Grant to start us off in 2021 with a new story that gives us all the feels, as well as all the laughs.

If you haven't been introduced to Pippa Grant's work, you're missing out and I highly suggest you start rectifying that situation - here's the proper story timeline reading order (you'll thank me, I promise).

Do you remember your first boyband concert? Remember when they were a thing? Well here’s the thing. The guys in those boy bands grow up and become men. We though, we don’t think like that. In our minds as Rod Stewart sang they are, Forever Young. Many times they conjure up great memories for us. Take us back to a time that brings a smile to our face and gave us hope of what could be.
Often the bands break up and go their separate ways. One becomes a businessman, a correspondent, host of a tv show Do you remember your first boyband concert? Remember when they were a thing? Many times they conjure up great memories for us. Take us back to a time that brings a smile to our face and gave us hope of what could be.
Often the bands break up and go their separate ways. One becomes a businessman, a correspondent, host of a tv show. Then there’s one breakout singer that ends up with a gigantic solo career. The scene I have put before you is very much a part of this story but it is so much more!

Levi, former band member of BroCode, handsome, sexy, voice of a rockstar god. Has no intention of ever settling down. Although one night several year ago at one of his concerts someone became his muse and he never got to even talk to her but he never forgot. Now he needs to go find inspiration again. Then someone so far out of his league catches his eye and for all the wrong reasons he can’t shake this feeling.

Ingrid, single mom of three, beautiful in the most natural of ways but her life looking at it from an outsiders view is anything you would describe as beautiful. She is most unlikely to capture anyone’s attention, or so she thinks. Getting 30 minutes of alone time would be Nirvana for her. She is on constant overload but in her heart she wouldn’t change it.

We all have our life outline that we plan for years, our GPS our Google Maps as it were. Sometimes it only takes a moment for someone or something to upset those long held plans, to throw us off course and change our direction. Do you change course and see where it leads. What new scenery pops up? Or do you get back on course and follow the most direct route? The real questions are how far are you willing to go to feel fulfilled? How stringent are you to hold on to your beliefs? What could make you change? Do priorities change?
These are just some of the issues (and I do mean some there are so many more) that headline this beautiful romcom. Pippa Grant has brought us a book with her unique style that will make you laugh, melt your heart, having you tearing up, thinking of life perspective from other points of view and take your heat index way up.

If you’ve read other books by this author you will be happy to know that you will meet up with several of your favorite characters and new ones that just capture your heart. If you’re a mom you will at times feel like parts of this are your life or have been. You will definitely identify with many aspects of this adorable book. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the other books by Pippa. This is is a standalone but you will go back and want to read her other books.

This book will take hold of your heart in all ways imaginable. It will have your crying, laughing and sighing right up to the end. It’s a story you don’t want to see end. What a great way to start off my new year!

Ingrid Scott is a hot-mess mother of three busy, lively kids and runs the bookstore in Copper Valley. Her schedule is tight with very little downtime for herself, let alone a potential relationship. She's been let down plenty of times before by her ex, so she relies as much on herself as possible to give her kids the best life th 4.5 stars - A funny, feel-good read that also packed an emotional punch. When she meets one of the music world's biggest superstars and he seems interested in her, she can't quite believe that it could possibly be true.

Levi Wilson is a local boy made good. With all his globe-trotting success, he's never forgotten his roots because his family and close friends keep him grounded. His soul is kind and good, and his heart is big. Years ago, a face in the crowd changed his life, and when he hides out in the local bookstore, his life is about to change again.

"Heat rockets through my body, the electric current between us pulsing so hard, the shock that comes when we part will be unbearable."

This was such a funny read. OMG! Ingrid's kids were a handful. Honestly, I would have run away screaming! LOL. She's got backbone and a deep-well of love for those children. Their antics were hilarious, adorable and seriously hair-pulling! LOL. Levi was pretty swoonworthy. I loved how much he desired her and how beautiful he thought she was, even when she wasn't looking her best. Their attraction had some major zing! I loved how much he wanted to help her and understood what she dealt with daily. He had such a healthy appreciation for all her struggles and her successes. I adored his admiration for her and I loved how taken he was with her kids. I liked that he wasn't pushy or got annoyed at how little time Ingrid could devote to him, and honest to God, he melted my heart when he showed her how present he could be in her life, without actually having to be there in person. Getting lost in your own hometown really puts your life into perspective. Levi finds much more than a hidey hole in a bookstore with Ingrid and her wonderfully energetic life. Well played Pippa.
She’s only gone and done it again!
Our heroine, Ingrid, sees herself as a hot mess, when in (virtual) reality she’s one of the most put together, organised, selfless people in Copper Valley.
Yes, ok she walks around with goldfish in her hair, other foodstuffs smeared about her person and invariably wears odd socks, but she’s still wonder woman with all that she achieves.

Ingrid Scott is, indeed, one hot mess. As a bookstore owner and single parent of three lively children, life has taken her a far away from the precise, ordered military existence she once knew.

To say her kids, Piper, Zoe, and Hudson, are lively is an understatement. Each one is a handful, and Ingrid only has two hands, bless her heart. Her days are full of chauffeuring kids from school to multiple extra-curricular activities, fishing foreign objects out of her four-year-old's nose, and cleaning up the latest disaster, while being there for other frazzled mothers who come to her bookstore for a moment’s peace and moral support. Very little in her life is orderly, but Ingrid is selfless, down to earth, charming, and oh so relatable. She's every mom who's ever been at her wit's end.

This book has all the delightful, madcap hilarity and tomfoolery we've come to expect from this talented wordsmith but with an extra poignant sweetness that squeezes the heart in the most exquisite way. And Levi Wilson? Gah! The man is sweetness overload!

Sure, he may be the hottest ticket in pop rock music, but his single mother raised a man with a terrific sense of humor and an amazing heart whose most valued commodity is his family and friends. I’m not sure which Levi I swooned over the most – the man who is ridiculously adorable with Ingrid's kids or the Levi who could laugh at the outrageous interruptions that kept a highly anticipated liftoff burning on the launch pad. That, my reader friend, may just be the ultimate swoon. When you can find a man who makes you laugh and laughs with you when things around you are falling apart, that's a treasure more precious than gold.

Most books for me are a one and done. I may adore the characters while I’m reading, but many leave my mind once I’m immersed in the next book. Ingrid and Levi, however, kicked me out of bed at 4 AM, TYVM, insisting I write my review NOW, telling me what I needed to say about them. So, Levi and Ingrid, I hope I do you justice. One thing is certain, I’ll always think of you two whenever a rubber chicken pops up. And, P.S., Levi, should the Bro Code ever get back together, be sure to add some squirrel-dance moves to your repertoire.

Of course this book comes with the requisite warning about the danger of reading it in public and the risk of spontaneous barks of laughter accompanied by inelegant snorts. But then there really needs to be a blanket warning for anything penned by this crafty, clever lady.

So settle in for a hilarious, heartwarming, epically entertaining time with Levi, Ingrid and the kids But first, you may want to warn your family, your friends, your neighbors and the Jehovah's Witnesses that to interrupt you is to risk bodily harm. So many jewels that involve other books and series from the Pippverse stumble, dance, crawl and tiptoe across the pages; you smile and cry your way through the book. There's a George Cooney and sex toy sighting. Ares Berger makes one of the most tender-hearted appearances that literally had me reaching for the kleenex along with teammates from the Thrusters (we really need another hockey book, please). Does anyone remember a pair of memorable white pants from Liar Liar? The other members of BroCode, members of the Copper Valley Fireballs, and our favorite romance author. There is a rogue squirrel with contraband, a hockey-loving girl, and a four-year-old with a penchant for sticking things up his nose. You know those confetti cannons they use at games and pep rallies? Reading this book is like getting blasted with confetti cannon of joy as you are reading. Yes, Pippa writes RomCom--but Pippa writes RomCom with a TON of heart. There's always happiness in her books; Hot Mess and the Heartthrob is filled with satisfying joy and so very much serendipity.

Go ahead, pick this book up, and read it. You don't have to have read the other books; it stands alone brilliantly. But the more Pippa you've read, the more you will be doing little happy dances at all the Easter eggs in this book. Ingrid and Levi will leave you laughing and crying as they find love in a time of single parenting and stardom. And never has a hot mess of a mom looked so darn beautiful. How do I describe this book? This is a romantic comedy, yes- I laughed and smiled throughout the book to the point that my 8 year old twins asked constantly, "Mommy, what is your book about?" and "Why are you laughing, Mommy?". I absolutely adore Ms. Grants writing. Not only does she know how to make me laugh, but she also knows how to make me feel like I would fit right into any world she writes. Chaotic fun

Is it possible to be exhausted by a book while also having all of the warm and fuzzy feelings for it? Because I think that's where I'm at with this one. I always, always look forward to Grant's books, and I loved this hero. But I'll be honest and say that I found the intensity of our heroine's life to be overwhelming, and the constant - CONSTANT - references to her kids distracted from the romance. Moms will probably find this to be extremely relatable, and non-moms will probably find Chaotic fun

I always, always look forward to Grant's books, and I loved this hero. But I'll be honest and say that I found the intensity of our heroine's life to be overwhelming, and the constant - CONSTANT - references to her kids distracted from the romance. Moms will probably find this to be extremely relatable, and non-moms will probably find it to be funny - up to a point. While I love the humor in this author's work, this definitely passed the point of funny and moved on to annoying somewhere along the way. That's not to say that it's not still an adorable, charming love story - it is - but I wish there was more focus on the connection between these two, without life getting in the way. This IS fiction, after all.

The story follows Levi, an aging rock star who loves his job, but also feels like he's ready for something else in his life. After years on the road, Levi has realized that it'd be nice to have someone to come home to, someone who puts his needs first. So when he meets hot mess of a single mom, Ingrid, she's a slice of normal that Levi would love to have in his life. And there's something about Ingrid specifically that resonates with Levi, so he can't help but be attracted to her. But Ingrid's life is already filled to capacity, and she doesn't have room for a distraction - even a sexy one.

This has been a great series, and I always know I'm in for a highly entertaining read when I pick up one of this author's books. This certainly wasn't one of my favorites from her, but the bar is VERY high at this point. It's still swoony and sweet with so much humor, and I definitely had a good time reading it. But I wanted more of the romance without distraction. It seemed like EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. these two start getting closer, something gets in the way. And that's funny for a while, but ultimately just becomes irritating. So while there are some deeper moments in this, I'd actually say that this is one of the shallower romances from this author, only because Levi and Ingrid don't actually spend much alone time together at all. Sure, they're in most scenes together, but it's not the same thing. The tender moments that we do get are some of the best parts of the book, and I would've loved more. This is a fun, low angst read, and I still wholeheartedly recommend it, but there were definitely things that I didn't love. ...more

This was another delightful addition to the Pippa Grant universe. Technically a stand alone, but you’ll enjoy it much more if you’ve read the rest of the Bro Code series, and the Copper Valley Firebirds series...but if I’m being honest, you should read all of Pippa’s books.

Neither is really looking for each other, but life finds a way. I think it was all the best parts of a fiction romance novel with just the right amount of real life angst and problems thrown in.
It was great to finally have a story for Levi. He’s been a side character or mentioned in so many other books! Always the fun uncle, goofy best friend, silly little brother… Now he has to grow up and reach his full potential. Ingrid is every mom-she feels like a hot mess, but to the rest of the world she’s got it all together and is everything to her little family. Together they are an unconventional match, but it works!
No Pippa Grant book is complete without some amazing chemistry. These characters may seem to be in different places in their lives, but Levi re-awakens Ingrid’s libido and together they are amazing!
This book was written to be devoured! It’s so funny, and relatable, and far-fetched and amazing! I love reading Pippa Grant books because she weaves the most amazing tales, always careful to get details correct and bring in characters from other books as a treat.
I don’t see how you can go wrong with this book. Love reading? A book about a bookstore owner. One who manages to fall for a former boy band member and have a perfectly imperfect happily ever after with her kids and a squirrel. Because pets. Enjoy!

I want a Levi Wilson of my own!!!
Levi is the perfect complement to Ingrid. She's a super busy, overworked, and over-stressed, single mom of 3, running her own thriving business. He's a world famous pop star, with a crazy busy schedule(even though he's already slowed down), takes his responsibilities seriously, and misses his friends and family in his hometown.

I absolutely loved this story. I loved that there was no hiding how hectic and disastrous Ingrid and her kids lives were. Everything in this book made me smile and laugh out loud so many times. I loved that Levi didn’t try to take over her life. That he just went with the flow. He took her kids and just rolled with it.

Oh my goodness! What a balm for my soul - I absolutely adored Levi and Ingrid and the togetherness and kindness of his “village” towards Ingrid. Just what I needed in this crazy, unpredictable world today.

Such a great story! OMG I love Ms. Grant's style, I laughed SO hard I snorted more than once. Several of the Ingrid 'hot mess' tales felt very ripped from the headlines of my own life! This author doesn't just give us the fantasy of Levi the pop star, she gives us the realness of the busy single mom spread so thin she doesn't have time to fantasize about the life of said pop star. I can always count on a Pippa Grant book to bring a smile to my face, and she most certainly did with this one. The Hot Mess and the Heartthrob is full of laughs for sure, but it’s also so dang heartwarming and sweet (with just enough spice) and just absolutely perfect. I think every mom can find a bit of themselves in Ingrid. Her kids are a riot, and the pet hijinks had me laughing out loud. My favorite, though, is Levi. Love this book so much! 2021 definitely started off with a bang!

I’m a big fan of the Pippaverse so I was super excited for Levi’s book. I mean ex Boyband member? Uhhh yeah, my childhood revolve over fangirling over boybands!

Levi Wilson is freaking awesome!!! 🥰 If you’ve read the other books in the Series, you got glimpses of him being the cool Uncle, funny and annoying younger brother, and cool guy Hearthrob. This time you’ll see a different side, the swoony boyfriend material 😉.
