This is one of my best reads so far by a Kenyan author ( subject to change). I have 4 more of her titles to read 🤓

So basically this is more like a "big sister advice" kind of book. Where she bluntly tells you the truth about being your own kind of woman, especially having been in both sides of the rope as a single mother and wife in this generation X or is it Y?😂

It is based on true scenarios and how the society has normalized things that should not especially for the modern woman. It is okay to be independent and still expect your man to meet his responsibilities. It is okay to be a single mother, but it is nothing to glorify at the same time. It is okay to fall in love after countless break- ups and yes, it is okay to walk away from a relationship that is toxic.

The author also talks about how technology has influenced a lot of people, and how it is a "necessary evil". However she speaks on how this social media spaces are not where you get tips to be a good wife, mother or parent or even just a partner.

[How you turn out to be is determined by the values you learn as you get through this thing called life. Perfection is not an inbuilt software in human beings - what I have gathered 👌]

My conclusion: Kenyan authors are being underrated. It is sad , yet exciting to find out about Joan Thatiah in 2021. She has definitely gained a fan, and yes this is a book worth reading repeatedly for both genders, which is something I will definitely do.

I have nothing against you, but no Joan you should have done your research well before writing the book.

The book covers issues that many women deal with, yet it is full of baseless assumptions, it felt like gossip, like you just giving your opinions on things you absolutely know nothing about. Well on some aspects like motherhood you tried, but on some like wearing heels, being a proverbs 31 woman, having sponsors etc, You should asked people's thoughts around first!

Also don't you have an editor? book is full of grammar mistake!
And please note these are actually the views of my bookclub members, not just me!

This book is one of those they call "the hard truths of life"
Joan Thatiah will get you from your pedestal calmly and peacefully and take you on a valid road trip where you will become a transformed person.

I loved this book and I highly recommend it to all women, girls and ladies out there.

Thanks Joan Thatiah.

The author gets better with each book, that I can say but I still would prefer stories since the advice is getting similar with each book I see a trend albeit agreeable at every instance but I can't imagine 5 or more books of the same thing. However I loved the 3books so far and I'll be repeating them in the future.
