Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club: Book Two

Sometimes love is flashier than magic.

On the surface, Alex Kennedy is unremarkable: average looks, boring accounting job, predictable crush on his handsome playboy boss, Simon Reddick.

But he’s also a witch.

Business powerhouse Simon goes for flash and glamour… most of the time. But something about Alex makes Simon wonder what’s unde

3.5 stars. I started this read unknown it was part two of a series and I had the feeling of stepping in halfway not knowing what was going on. I struggled to get in the story,

Alex and his friends have to do a ritual, at sunrise and sunset, or the cul-de-sac, where they all live, goes to hell. Things disappear and their beloved dog is gone, thank goodness it returns. There are a reason and a meaning behind it all.

Two of their friends are gone, nobody knows where they precisely are. The circle of

I got an ARC for free in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing I will say is that you should read the first book in the series Shortbread and Shadows before reading this understand so much more of the story that way as it build of the first story.
This book while there are dark things happening is full of hope for better days.
Alex Kennedy is an accountant and also a witch. His coven is trying to fix the results of a botched spell that is slowly turning their cul de sac into an ou
4.5 stars.

I really like how this straddled creepy and light at the same time. I enjoyed all the characters and felt the caring between the groups of friends. The setup for the rest of the series was great. I can hardly wait for Jordan’s story.

This book is like a warm cup of cocoa on an afternoon that is cold and rainy. It has all the elements of fluff, romance, and magical practice the series is known for.

The coven is devoted to trying to fix the spell gone wrong. They are locked into a sunrise/sunset casting of spells to keep the maleficent forces at bay. It’s exhausting to all the friends of Dante and Cully. As we read in the previous book, Dante and Cully, two members of their friendship circle, have suddenly gone missing. They a

I kinda like this book better since I have all the setups from the first book.

Another secretly pining pair, although this pair is quite unique for me. (view spoiler)

The story was pretty cute, with most of the setup sort of done in the first book, this time we gets to know more about the coven, it's history as well as getting to know more about it

I enjoyed watching Simon and Alex get to know each other. Alex works at Simon's accounting firm and both Alex and Simon have formed infatuations during their time working together. However the preconceptions that formed the basis of those infatuations were not quite right. It was a lot of fun to see how they both discovered the truth about the other as each realized the real person was better than they could have imagined. In truth they were perfect for one another and if not for the spell that ...more

This is the second book in the Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club, which focuses on a group of friends who practice magic and live on the same cul-de-sac. This is Alex's story, and it's so good! Alex is an accountant by day, focused and logical, and he doesn't seem like a "typical" witch - if there is such a thing. His concern for his friends and Glinda the pup is wonderful.
Alex's romantic interest is his boss Simon, who is an irresistible combination of arrogant and insecure. These two are so sw

I was looking forward to this second book in the Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club series from the moment I finished the first. I mean, what’s not to love? Witches who don’t know what they’re doing. Spells that go wrong but seem to accomplish something better than intended. Friends who would do anything for each other. A quest to change the status of lonely hearts to happy in love...perhaps. In the continued quest to find a way to bring two of the circle of friends back from an alternate reality ...more

Sweet, Fluffy, Magical Romance

This is the second in Amy Lane’s Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club series, a book she says in the introduction she wrote for her family and friends who needed normal and fluffiness. She succeeded.

Alex Kennedy, accountant for Reddick, Lockhart, and Baldwin Accounting has a crush on one of his bosses – and quickly learns that Simon Reddick is also interested in him. Alex, however, is also part of a neighborhood coven desperately trying to undo the results of a disastro

I absolutely adored this book. Amy Lane creates a world that is fun and scary at the same time. The characters in this world are so sweet and so lost that they need outside help.
Alex is just trying to keep his head above water with the whole magic thing as well as the crush on his boss.
Simon wants to be considered cool and amazing but his encounters and his own crush on Alex fail at every turn and it’s absolutely hilarious. But he’s a good man and he wants to help Alex with whatever he needs A

Oh we are getting to the heart of all the matters now. The truth is finally coming out the way it should have when they cast the spell to begin with and now things are seriously changing the more the do magic. And it's time to admit they need help. My only complaint in this is the CLIFFHANGER!!!! grrrrrrr. I know what Jordan's truth really is now and I want to know who is on the other side of that door. But this is such a good book. I love that Alex gets what he's wanted all along and in a way h ...more

Portals and Puppy Dogs by Amy Lane was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book in its fluffiness and love throughout. As a continuation from the first book, Shortbread and Shadows Alex and the rest of the Coven are still trying to get their friends back from other pockets of time they are stuck in.Simon, Alex’s boss, finally has gotten brave enough to ask Alex out on a date. It was awkward but Alex was glad he made the effort and wanted more. As they navigate falling more ...more

I get the feeling Amy Lane was slightly distracted while writing this one. There are two instances of the timeline not making sense, she confused two characters' wardrobes after making said wardrobes staples of their respective personalities, and I've never known her work to feature so many exclamations! Seriously, exclamation marks are annoying when used in everyday dialogue.

I've seen her write better than this. Way better than this. Still, the story continuation is interesting and I like wher

I'm just going to get this out the way and say I like it a bit more than the first one. I love this kind of fluff. Everyone needs this kind of squishiness in their life. I was happy for the main couple, and the characters surrounding them were awesome sauce. I hope we get to solve Dante and Cully's issue in the next book.

Overall, it is a sweet continuation of the Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club. I also can't just leave without mentioning ticklish taint did bout took me out.

I'll be honest, I usually like Amy's really angsty stories. This is a slightly off of silly book. However, it does have enough serious drama to keep it interesting. The teleporting puppy is just so out there that you can't help but be entertained. Alex is desperately trying to keep it together for his friends, but he isn't a miracle worker. Simon desperately wants to be there for Alex, but he has no experience with witches or magic. Somehow they make it work and fall in love in the process. It i ...more

This is the second book in the Hedge Witches Lonely Hearts Club series. This is an interesting book where friends preform a spell for the heart’s desire, but it all goes wrong. I have really enjoyed this series, especially when all I hear about it the pandemic. It lightened my day. The characters are spot on and the pace makes it hard to put down. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

This book is about Alex and his boss Simon. The cul de sac crew is still dealing with wonky magic and are trying to fix things, but they are discouraged and exhausted.. Simon, Alex’s boss, has had a thing for Alex and Alex has a thing for his boss. Throw in a disappearing/reappearing dog and you get a cute story with lots of magic and goofy MCs. I think this is a good story in the series and look forward to the next.

You can't lose with Amy Lane

Do you want to explore a world where friends are family? Where magic is real, but more importantly love is real? Where people use their talents to help, protect, and build instead of destroy? The walk into this world the Amy Lane has created. This is the 2nd book in there series and just good as the first. Both leave you feeling warm and happy while still wanting more.

Sweet Witchy Story

This is Alex and Simon's story. They make a cute couple, both not knowing how to talk to each other is adorable. I love how the over come their differences and make it work.

I really loved it and can't wait for the next one in the series.

You definitely have to read the first book of the series, but Ms. Lane I hate your cliff hanger!!! But I love the story and all the characters especially Simon--he is my new favorite of this series. Cannot wait for the next book.
