I do love Therese Beharrie's books, they're the perfect balance of angsty, sweet, and a touch of wry. This one has, admittedly, a slightly implausible premise (CEO's sister won't take his money but will let him take a month off work to do her housekeeping job) but this is romance where we do things for Romance Reasons so shut up. And once established, it's terrific. Hero is confident in his work but caught in a must-provide mindset that doesn't do him any favours. Heroine has been widowed for fi ...more

4.5, so good. RtC, I’m on the treadmill right now lol

3 days later, I’m here with my thoughts. I don’t want to give too much away because I’ll be chatting with Therese Beharrie soon and can’t wait to pick her brain on all the things, but...this book is an incredible emotional roller coaster.
A really huge theme/topic in this book is Memory. We follow Tyler and Brooke. In the beginning of the book you get Tyler’s perspective and quickly learn that he is entering Brooke’s life...again. They know one

Could the sexy Tyler Murphy, who is actually a CEO, be Brooke Jansen's temporary housekeeper? If his looks aren't enough, which cause of spark of attraction Brooke has a hard time denying, his love of dogs and family - which Brooke soon becomes aware of - make him all but irresistible.

Why is Tyler willing to take on the job as a housekeeper? He certainly is not in need of money, so the question that begs an answer is what is the draw. Both Tyler and Brooke have painful pasts, albeit for differen

4 stars. I really enjoyed this one. The romance was a bit slow going because of the heroine but that’s not a complaint. I loved it and think the romance between Brooke and Tyler was really well done. I also really liked both characters. As a couple and as individuals. Brooke is a grieving widow. She’s a hard worker and she’s extremely prickly and moody which I loved. She was a great character and I loved her and all of her stubborn ways. Her development in the end was definitely the better of th ...more

Therese Beharrie’s Awakened by the CEO’s Kiss is a fun, fresh and flirty romantic tale sprinkled with all the warmth, sass and sparkle that have become her trademarks.

When handsome CEO Tyler Murphy turns up on her doorstep, nobody is more surprised than Brooke Jansen – he was definitely not the housekeeper she was expecting! Looking like he has just strutted off the front cover of a magazine, Tyler certainly does not fit the image Brooke had in her head of what a housekeeper looks like.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.

Awakened by the CEO’s Kiss is a sweet romance from Therese Beharrie. I was a bit unsure about the amnesia trope, but I really liked the original take on it, exploring how it’s rooted in psychological trauma, and how memory is linked (or not) with our choices as to who we become as people.

The exploration of Brooke’s past pain as the story unfolded was really well done, and while it ca

The synopsis of this book sounds so sweet and intriguing but for me this book was pretty flat. The fact that Tyler is a CEO is barely mentioned and in fact he doesn’t even seem to even work for his company other than owning the rights to it. Which isn’t really a problem except for the fact that this book has the word CEO in the title and is even mentioned in the synopsis. I honestly thought the CEO the book was referring to was Brooke and I was baffled when it turned out to be Tyler. The biggest ...more

I received Awakened by the CEO's Kiss as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

Tyler Murphy is shocked when, while filling in for his sister's housekeeping job, he finds that his client is none other than Brooke Jansen, the mysterious woman with whom he spent an unforgettable week five years earlier. But, confusingly, Brooke seems immune not only to Tyler's charms, but Tyler himself. As they spend more time together, their relationship and attraction grows, but both Tyler and Brooke will need to reckon w

When his nephew comes down with the chicken pox, business owner Tyler fills in for his sister as housekeeper for a new client. He's shocked to find that the employer is Brooke, a woman he had an almost-fling with five years earlier. Only she's acting as if she's never met him before. Can he keep the relationship professional, when what he really wants is to rekindle that old flame?

This is a deeply emotional book. Brooke is still struggling with the loss of her husband, and Tyler with his father

Was their kiss just not that memorable or was something else going on? A question Tyler Murphy is plagued by when the woman he can't forget doesn't seem to remember that they had met before he takes over housekeeping duties for his sister until her son is well.

The attraction is mutual, but it takes learning more about Brooke Jansen's past before Tyler learns the answer to that question. Trouble is, when he does, it doesn't help when he tries to get to the bottom of Brooke's amnesia.

Awakened by the CEO's Kiss has an interesting premise and it kind of falls into the second chance romance trope. It's a slow-burn love story, and it's more dialogue-driven than I've seen in the genre for some time. That can go either way for me, but it works well with this storyline. Brooke and Tyler each have some things to work through, including a past that Brooke can't remember, but they have good chemistry and they're easy to root for. The book is a relatively quick read that's perfect for ...more

A lovely tale of learning to love again, to heal and to move on. The way Therese Beharrie weaves in the backstory, Brooke's amnesia, the love of her husband that she's lost and the way in which Tyler has never forgotten her is just magical. I could feel Brooke's confusion radiating off the pages, the instinctual connection between her and Tyler all the more so, as for the love that blossoms between them from the off...just swoon!

A gorgeous tale—sweet, romantic, and all things nice 💞

Grief and sorrow

Two uneppected emotions brought these two together. You never know why things happen the way they do but here you find an instant and lasting connection.
Do you ever read a book that objectively you think is well written, but the actual book just doesn't work for you on some level you can't even name? Because that was me with this book. I truly cannot decide if it was just the fact that I was really slumping hard or if this book and I just didn't match on some level. Because here's the thing, I love Beharrie's writing normally and this book has her same writing style and it's engaging enough, but I struggled to read more than a chapter at a time. ...more
