Hard book to read; still can't believe what I saw recorded. This book is balanced and age appropriate (grades 4-8). Looks at wider patterns of systemic racism (with maps and graphs) that are root causes of inequality. Would definitely encourage adult overview with this book: reviewed so that hard questions can be answered.

Dr. Harris did a spectacular job with this children's book about what happened to George Floyd. She presented all the information factually with what I felt was no influence of her personal feelings on the matter. I really liked that she gave additional reading material at the end of each chapter with thought provoking questions for both the kids and adults reading this book. She offered a lot of critical thinking opportunities and encouraged readers to write out their responses. Overall, a well done kids nonfiction book!

A good children’s history book. Not necessarily sure what age/grade level, but maybe 5-8th grade. Reviews other police crimes against black individuals in the recent years.
