I love Nancy Thayer’s writing and her books are always a top pick for a light feel good read; “Family Reunion” hit its mark providing the escape I was looking for. Family dynamics run deep in this story. Eleanor loves her house and doesn’t want to leave it. Her narcissistic daughter and allusive son want her to sell it so they make money. Her grand daughter moves in for the summer and that is just the beginning of the changes and surprises for Eleanor.

I’ll be back with a full review; you’ll want to add this one to your pile.

Nantucket....the beach....the ocean....what could be better. We follow the life of Eleanor and her children and granddaughter. Families have obstacles they must overcome and this one is no different. Infidelity, pregnancy, broken hearts, and demanding relatives are all mixed in there. We get a look at the young, the old and the in-between.

A loving story, this ARC was a delightful read. I related a lot to the family squabbles and the closeness of members. My favorite was the relationship of Ari a
I absolutely loved everything about this book- started it in the morning and finished it later the same day. Nancy Thayer writes beautiful family stories with heart and characters that feel so real, I'd like to be friends with them. Highly recommend for your "summer" fix on Nantucket. ...more

I was given this book from NetGalley to review. It was an unedited copy so I did find some discrepancies in the actual writing but have contacted the author so although I am sure she has already addressed them she can in the future.
This book tells that story of a family that has had a home in Nantucket for generations and have spend some wonderful times there. Now though Eleanor who is the current owner is being pressured by Cliff and his sister to sell the house for a large amount of money. Th

A note of appreciation to Random House/Ballantine Books for the ARC copy of this book to read and review. It's an honest one.

I must begin by saying that if you are a Nancy Thayer fan, (and I am), you will be willing to brush off a lot of my criticisms. You already know that Thayer gives a lot of verbiage to descriptions of clothing, shoes, hair, make-up and food. I can live with that.. But how many times do I need to be told that Ari's hair is long and dark? That she puts it up in a high pony ta

Family Reunion was exactly the type of book I enjoy: a family drama in a beautiful setting, written with details and descriptions that transported me to the middle of it all. The story centers around Ari and her grandmother, Eleanor. Ari comes to live with Eleanor the summer in Eleanor's beautiful home on Nantucket after Ari's college graduation, finding herself adrift after suddenly calling off her engagement. And this is only the beginning of the family drama that unfolds throughout the summer ...more

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. I LOVED this book! I’m a huge fan of Nancy Thayer and have read many of her novels. Family Reunion is my favorite of the past few years. First of all, the gorgeous imagery that Thayer uses to describe Nantucket makes me want to summer vacation there next year! The characters have depth, are enduring extenuating circumstances but are bonded together through the happy and sad times of life. It reminded me a lot of my relationship wit ...more

You can choose your friends but can't choose your family. That adage rings true in Nancy Thayer's #FamilyReunion. Eleanor Sunderland has a house with a view overlooking Nantucket's blue-green waters. With her 70th birthday looming, her children are plotting to sell her home.

To celebrate her milestone birthday, she invites her children and granddaughter, Ari for a family reunion. Ari is at the crossroads of her life after breaking up with her fiancé and graduating college. She moves in with Elea

I enjoy reading Nancy Thayer books. I feel this one fell a little short. Her description of Nantucket wants you to take a vacation there. Eleanor Suderland lives on Nantucket in a cliff side huge house. She is turning seventy and invites her daughter Alicia, Alicia’s husband Philip, and their daughter Ari. Also her son Cliff. Her two children want her to sell the house, they can get millions for the house. Eleanor doesn’t want to sell because its been in the family for years. The story focuses o ...more

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC copy of Family Reunion. I love any book about Nantucket and have always looked forward to a new Nancy Thayer book. This family story about patriarch Eleanor, her two grown children and her granddaughter Ari show the dynamics of the family and you get invested in the intricacies of their relationships. You will want to keep turning the page to see what happened next. It’s a good beach

This story is set in Nantucket, which is really lovely place. Eleanor is 70 years and a widow living by herself. Her two children feel that she is too old to keep the place up by herself and wish her to sell it. Of course, you know how that doesn't. Then there is her granddaughter, Ari who loves her grandmother dearly. After finishing college and just broken up with her fiancé, she is staying with Eleanor for the summer, working as a camp counselor to underprivileged children. This boo ...more

I received an ARC from Random House Publishing Group Ballantine Books through NetGalley for an honest review. It’s refreshing to find a the main character is a 70 year old widow, living in the family home on Nantucket. I received an advanced copy of this book.

Eleanor is a widow who lives on Nantucket in a beautiful family home overlooking the ocean. Her two adult children are greedy in nature and are pushing their mother to sell the home and share the millions in profit with them. This creates awkward and tense family gatherings and conversations. Eleanor's granddaughter Ari has just completed her time at college, broken off an engagement, and is trying to figure out her direction in life. A summer with her g

This novel will delight older women. Eleanor is 70, living alone in her huge family home on Nantucket, until her granddaughter Ari comes to stay and becomes a catalyst for major changes Eleanor and Ari are extremely likable characters and as a teacher and an older widow, I identified with both of them.

The sailing is not all smooth as Eleanor has to deal with her adult children and Ari finds herself in a difficult situation as she falls in love with someone on the island. I love the fact that El

A sweet read, much as one would expect from Thayer who does this genre so well. Escaping to Nantucket with her is always a pleasure and the array of characters make the book. The ending is a little unexpected, which is a nice twist.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of this summer's Nancy Thayer release. I really enjoyed it and finished it in 2 sittings. I really enjoyed this book, I finished it in less than a day. I recently started reading books by Nancy Thayer, and I love them. I love the relationship that Ari has with her grandmother. It makes me wish I had a close relationship with mine when she was alive, but she passed away when I was young. I love Eleanor in this book, she was active, funny, and cared about her family. I am grateful that netgalley let me read this in exchange for an honest review.

Nancy Thayer’s books are like a hug from an old friend. They allow you to escape reality for a while and become absorbed in someone else’s life. Plus, as always, Nantucket is a character in Family Reunion and I love her ability to really make the reader feel like they’re living on the island.
In Family Reunion, Eleanor has lived in her Nantucket home full time since her husband’s death three years ago. The house has been in her family for five generations and is filled (literally and figuratively

Nancy Thayer is a wonderful storyteller and like so many other books of hers that I’ve read, I enjoyed this one very much. I think my favorite part really is the stories location. It centers around the Nantucket area and I’ve always wanted to visit there but have never had the opportunity. By reading her books, I get to, if only in my imagination. Family Reunion is just like it says, it’s a book about family. All the ups and downs that one goes through throughout ones life. This story is about E ...more

It is not the summer seventy year old Eleanor neither expected nor wanted for her family. Everything seems a mess as she calmly tries to evaluate it all and give sound advice. Her children want her to sell her family home on Nantucket, pleading her advancing age and the age of the home. As the summer progresses, this wonderful novel takes you through the ups and downs of Eleanor life and the conclusions sh

Luckily I was given the chance to read this book. We have been snowed in so I got out the book sipped chai tea and read. This book was as good if not better than any other Nancy Thayer book. I am so over reading books with sex scenes that seem over the top. You won’t find that in this book it is just a story of a family who get a little off track but in the end come together better than ever. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to enjoy a wonderful story
