Knights of the Castle #9
Knight of Penn Quarter
Following an undercover FBI sting operation that didn't go as planned, Agent Mateo Lopez is ready to put the government agency in his rearview mirror.
A confirmed workaholic, his career soared at the cost of his love life which had crashed and burned until mutual friends arranged a date with beautiful, sharp-witted, Rachel Jordan, a rising star at a children's social services agency.
Unlucky in love, Rachel has sworn off romantic relationships, but Mateo finds himself falling for her in more ways than one. When trouble brews in one of Rachel's cases, he does everything in his power to keep her safe-even if it means resorting to extreme measures.
Will the choices they make bring them closer together or cost them their lives?

Terri Ann Johnson and Michele Sims have been tasked with the final book of the Knights of the Castle Series; and I must say they did an excellent job. Both are new authors to me and after reading Knight Of Penn Quarters I will definitely be reading more their work. The authors did an excellent job collaborating that you don’t know who wrote what. The book simply flowed along with action, drama, romance and the Knight Of Penn Quarter was definitely a page turner.
Mateo is an FBI agent and he’s contemplating retiring and venture out on his own for his company Global Security LLC; but he is given one last assignment before he turns in his final paper work.
Rachel is a social worker and she has been tasked with one of her co-worker’s assignments.
Mateo and Rachel story takes place in Washington DC and both have friends in common Lachelle and John who were introduced in “Faith Alone” by Terri Ann Johnson, which I will be adding to my TBR pile.
Lachelle and John think that Mateo and John would be good together and they go out on a date. Sparks are all over the place.
A case that Rachel and Mateo are working on puts them together and Rachel in danger. Rachel is the alpha female and is use to taking care of herself and doesn’t listen to Mateo. She finds herself in a predicament and is kidnapped and Mateo call in his friend Dro a King of the Castle who calls in his fellow Kings of the Castle.
This is a great end to the series and I am looking for more from the New York Times best-selling author Naleighna Kai and her tribe they did an awesome job with the Knights Of The Castle.
I received an ARC from Naleighna Kai and I leaving a voluntary review.

What A Way To End Such An Awesome Series!! 🤗🤗
There are several books in this series that had multiple authors collaborating together and this last book in this series was no exception!! Authors Michele Sims and Terri Ann Johnson did an excellent job sharing the story of Mateo and Rachel and some the other Kings and Knights! As with the other books, this was filled with drama, suspense, as well as romance and love!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!! As I have stated before, if you haven’t read this yet nor any of the other books in this series and The Kings of the Castle series, you are truly missing out!! Kudos, Ladies!! 💜

They saved one of the best for last with this book. I have read books from both authors individually, and it was great to see them come together for this final book in the Knights of the Castle series. Although I'm sure Rachel and Mateo would have never thought they would be with each other, this book goes to show you how someone not your type just might be the right person for you. The chemistry they had for each other was nothing short of amazing. This was a great book, and I can't wait to see what the publishing company as well as all of the authors come up with next.

Great read!!!! Believable characters that drew you in to their problems. Good to know damsels in distress are able to take care of themselves.

First off I want to say huge thank you to the publisher Macro Publishing Group -Independent Publishers Group ,the authors Terri Ann Johnson, Michele Sims , and to NetGalley for inviting me to inviting me to read and review this series, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next, because something tells me its going to be just as good as this one was and is, of course I still have the problem of choose which of the main hot male characters are and was my all time favorite , and you know what I've decide to keep them all. While I'ma sad this series ending , i can say that this was the perfect one to end with, because the story simply flowed with non stop action right from the very start, alone with drama, and romance , and the characters themselves bright to life the very topic the story was about because you could feel their pain as well as their fear.

This book reads like a movie playing in your mind. The writer has created such an amazing visual with their words that you can see how things play out as you read this book. It truly is an amazing read with characters that you will fall in love with! A must read for anyone who loves a good story and wants to be transported into a story!

This was the first book that I’ve read in this series and I got to admit I liked it! This was a very different type of read for me!! I love the fact that even though this book was a part of a series I couldn’t tell! I was able to enjoy this book as a stand-alone!!

Knight of the Penn Quarter, Michelle Sims, and Terri Ann Johnson brings this series to its conclusion, and it has been an enjoyable adventure.
Agent Mateo Lopez has had too many close calls working for the government, and he is ready to turn in his badge. His commanding officer isn't willing to accept the resignation, so he is met with push back when trying to retire. He is ready to devote his attention to endeavors of his own when a murder-suicide at a foster home grabs his attention.
Rachel Jordan has everything it takes to be a rising star in her job in child social services. She goes beyond the surface and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to her clients. Is this the reason certain cases get assigned to less attentive agents? When one particular file lands on her desk in need of her immediate attention, it changes the lives of many people.
This heart-gripping case brings them together and evokes emotions from the reader. It takes both of them working together to solve this case. Once the kings are involved, no one is safe from their wrongdoing. Teo and Rachel consider themselves unlucky in love due to bad experiences and being married to their work. That all changes when the sparks begin to ignite in the field and off.
Knight of Penn Quarter has suspense, action, deceit, and criminal acts against children. But you also get a great romance between two people from different walks of life.
Great read! I wasn't ready for this series to end but looking forward to what this group does next.

After a case lands Rachel and Mateo, together it also puts Rachel in danger. Rachel is used to taking care of herself and doesn’t listen to Mateo. She finds herself in a situation and Mateo has to call in his friend Dro, and some fellow Kings of the Castle. This is an exciting and excellent read.

Great book - worth reading!
I love this book! As the story got underway, I was rooting for Rachel, Heaven and Mateo to become a family! Tears came to my eyes when I read Teo means “a gift from God” like Nathan, my son’s name! I have my own King in my husband Eric! I can’t wait to read the next book!

I just love the collaboration between these two authors with this storyline. Not only is it a page turner, it also tackles today issues of children and teens being used as drug mules and used sexually for human trafficking. There are a lot of missing children who are missing today because of this happening.
The characters were well developed and you can feel their emotions of love, hurt, pain, anger, compassion and caring. You see how Rachel Jordan a social worker, who grew up in foster care and now works with families and children who are in care. Rachel understands that even though life can be rough at times but you can overcome for the better for your life. Mateo Lopez is a undercover FBI agent and now he wants to leave the agency and start his own private security business. Before he leave his supervisor wants him to work one more case involving children being used to illegal drugs.
Rachel and Mateo meet on a blind date set up by their mutual friends and now they both have become involved in the same case of a foster family that is killed and one of the siblings that didn’t get killed is one of Rachel’s cases.
Will working together turn out to be a romantic relationship for them or a disaster?
It was great seeing some of the other Kings and Knights come and help out.
I highly recommend this book to read especially if you like romance, mystery and suspense storyline.

I voluntarily read a ARC of this book and this review is of my own honest opinion and thoughts.

KNIGHT OF PENN QUARTER co-authored by Terry Ann Johnson and Michele Sims is the ninth and final novella in the multi-authored, multi-cultural KNIGHTS OF THE CASTLE romantic suspense series-a spin off from the multi-authored KINGS OF THE CASTLE series. This is FBI agent Mateo Lopez, and social worker Rachel Jordan’s story line. KNIGHT OF PENN QUARTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from third person perspective KNIGHT OF PENN QUARTER follows social worker Rachel Jordan as she struggles in the aftermath of wellness check wherein a suspected murder-suicide has taken the lives of two young children, and their foster parents. With the eldest child missing, and an attack against our story line hero that left her shaken and confused, Rachel calls in FBI agent Mateo Lopez, a recent blind date that she hopes to turn into something more. As Rachel reveals some of the back story about the possibility of the children used in drug trafficking, Mateo calls in the Kings of the Castle, a well-connected, well-to-do group of philanthropic and covert men whose purpose is to rescue the threatened and abused.
KNIGHT OF PENN QUARTER is a story of betrayal and pretense, drug trafficking and murder. The fast paced premise is intriguing and compelling; the characters are energetic and animated; the romance is but a whisper as it remains secondary to the events of the story line premise.

Friends brought them together but the threat of danger made them closer. I loved the chemistry between Rachel and Mateo and how their relationship evolved throughout the story. They both had stressful government careers that made it difficult on their personal lives and when Rachel experiences a traumatic incident while on the job, Mateo literally becomes her knight in shining armor to protect her with the help of his special brotherhood. It was a nice surprise to see Lachelle and John, characters from the author’s novel, Faith Alone make an appearance. A good story that combines romance and adventure with a Washington, D.C. backdrop while also tackling topics such as human sex trafficking.

Knight of Penn Quarter is a page turner. It will leave you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of the next adventure. This book has it all: action, romance, drama, suspense, intrigue, and excitement. You will fall in love with the characters. The mastery of the writing is that it takes you to dark places that make you flinch. But then you are transformed to a brighter plain of love, compassion, and romance. You don't want to miss Knight of Penn Quarter.

The writing was great as before. However, once again, I find the lack of love for the many shades of blackness by the authors of this series. I feel as if I have gone back in time before I was born. According to this series, I lack beauty because I could not pass the paper bag test. It is so disgusting . I am a proud black woman, and I love the many shades of black and brown that makes up the black community. I feel sorry for the authors who are not, but think they are superior.

Mateo is jaded and on his way out of the FBI when he lands a date with Rachel, a social worker. One of her cases goes haywire, and she becomes a target. Of course, Mateo won’t leave her to deal with the bad guys alone.
I enjoyed the action scenes in this story, but more than that, the connection between Mateo and Rachel was solid. Heaven was a good addition to the story and their relationship. Loved the funny moments and the hero’s protective nature. Seeing the Kings was also a treat. :)

Teo and Rachel
This is the ninth book in the Knights of the Castle series and the only one I have read. Teo and Rachel, a FBI agent and an adoption social worker, make an attractive team. While references are made about the other knights, the book can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the story and liked the chemistry between the two leads.

I really enjoyed this book not too many characters . Great story line that flowed really well. The story have insight to a problem that is plaguing our nation. I can't wait to read the rest of the Knight series.

Romance and suspense
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a little rushed and felt like some characters were underdeveloped. The story allows us to see some of the good and bad in the “system”. I would recommend this book and the Knights Series to others.

This was a lot of fun and Suspense. I really like Mateo and Rachel. I liked how their relationship built up and how they helped each other to find new sides of themselves.
The story had nerve-wracking moments and also cute and sweet moments that made me read this one in almost one sitting.
There were some things were you have to let go the suspension of disbelief but overall it was a solid read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review
