A bitter, brutal, poignant and eventually deeply unsatisfactory tale. But... it felt so real, and so uncomfortably close to life that I wouldn't be able to dismiss it.
Read it, if you can get it.

A sad story about Professor Challenger and Edward Malone set in the 1930s, which is very good despite being in the vein of Conan Doyle's spiritualist Challenger stories, rather than the good ones. It's very short but there's more substance in its thirty-seven pages than you'll find in some entire novels about the same characters – such as, for example, the one I wrote.

a nice little chapbook - illustrated and well written gothic type story - though quite brief
