Cool overview of lots of neat women!
One gripe… the author says a lot of these women were “transgender.” Maybe it’s just that this book is old and the term outdated, but!
Women dressing as men because women had no rights… is not transgender.
They’re just people trying to be treated like people.
Having gender dysphoria/dysmorphia and feeling like you’re the wrong gender and taking steps to change aforesaid gender to the one that brings you comfort… THAT is transgender.
Not simply cutting your hair so you’ll be treated like a human being.

It was a blast getting to know some more famous women of the Renaissance. There were artists, scientists, stateswomen, pirates, royalty, and of course Joan of Arc. I was interested to read about some women who were either born in or went to the New World. What fascinating lives they led, and how sad that we rarely hear about or read about them.

I checked this out of the library looking for interesting facts to share with my seniors. This book is one I will use. A solid introduction and women who many of my students have never heard of but should.
