I can't recall anything distinguishing this popular-talk-of-the-universe-since-COBE book from any of the other few dozen popular-talk-of-the-universe-since-COBE books I've read, which at least means I didn't find any truly appalling errors. This book could practically have been written by stapling Popular Science articles together.
The dust jacket, it must be said, is quite attractive -- I like the soft colors! Most space books seem to be drawing the universe to scale on their covers, what with the ubiquitous Intergalactic Void-like artwork. That nudges you right into three stars land, Mr. Croswell! Be thankful you got them.

This is one GREAT book: I read it about 13 years ago and it still is very actual, in a fast-moving field like Astronomy this means something. Recommended!
