This is an interesting story with strong characters. The author does a great job developing the story and had me glued to the pages with all the happenings. She brings the story to life with her detailed and descriptive writing, painting her scenes in graphic detail. Overlooking the editing , it's a well written story ,moves fluidly and is a great read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Drew Anderson and her friends have always been told to never enter the house on the hill. It is told that if you enter the hensley mansion it will not let you leave again. Well, I can just imagine what sixteen-year-olds thought about that. First off, I don’t think they really believed it and second I don’t think they could pass up a chance of spending the night in a haunted house just to prove that ghost didn’t exist.

Drew and her friends decided they were going to spend a night of partying in th

The Hensley Mansion a throwback to the old Point Horror YA books that I read during my childhood. It clocks in at just over 300 pages, and the narration is fairly easy to read. The plot centers on teenager Drew and her friends throwing a party on Halloween at the Hensley Mansion. Like any good haunted house story, weird things occur, ghosts appear, and characters die. Or do they? The author jumps back and forth from 1988 to the present day and then tosses in a time loop subplot to spice up every ...more

This was definitely an interesting story. The premise of a haunted house isn't new, but the way the author writes makes it an easy and enjoyable read. It definitely has a retro feel to it. Think of a movie like Grease, it gives off that sort of time period to me which works very well for the time period. I enjoyed going back and forth from the present and the past and I appreciate that it wasn't a jarring confusing back and forth it was a very clear when you were in the past and when you were in ...more

If you like stories about haunted houses, The Hensley Mansion will not disappoint you. A group of teenagers are in for a rude awakening when they decide to party at the house on Hallowe'en night. Only one person can escape the horror, only one person will be given a choice. This story is a wonderful, freaky, scary tale. Though it could benefit from a good editing, the storyline and the characters are very good in this horror story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am volunt ...more

Horror, when done well, is absolutely captivating. I got drawn into this book before I knew what was happening. It was like watching a movie unfold, and before you know it, you're halfway through the book and hours have passed. I loved the retro-horror film feel, and the characters were well-developed. If the house was real, and I could visit it when Drew and her friends did as teens, I don't know if I would. And younger me loved to explore abandoned and haunted places. A chilling story that you ...more

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. There were a lot of errors throughout the book but the story itself and the characters were great. There were definitely some twists I didn't see coming. With a good editor this book could easily be a 5 star read. As it is I still give it 4 stars because I really enjoyed it. One other minor complaint I have is in the beginning the use of the word idiot was a bit excessive to the point it became a little annoy ...more

An exceptional horror story, a house where you cannot escape, some great ideas, excellent scares, great characters . An addictive read you want to know who if any will survive, like the best horror movies. Highly recommended

This book was amazing! It was well written and went into so many graphic details. The author has a great mind for horror and i will definitely read more from her. The absolute best part is the ending because you will never suspect its coming.
