The Gods Made Me Do It #9 - can be read as standalone
An ancient god, a demon, and a wolf shifter walk into a bar. No, it's not the start of a joke, but Ra, The Father of Everything in the ancient Egyptian pantheon, thinks the Fates might be playing a joke on him when he drops in to try and help Cass and Wesley with their latest case. Seeing his mate for the first time, fighting for his life against three assassins should've been a cause for celebration, but Ra already knew the brave wolf shifter was destined for someone else.
Arvyn, alpha wolf shifter, didn't know what to think. One minute he was fighting off three attackers, the next, those attackers were frozen like statues and he was confronted with another wolf shifter and a demon. But he already knew, he'd heard his mate was locked up in a basement in the nearby vampire coven and he wasn't going to let anyone stop him from meeting and saving the one intended for him.
In the meantime, Kirill, Prince of the Dublin Coven was furious. Being chained to a wall in his own basement was the height of insult and as soon as he got his hands on the vampire responsible, that man's head was going to be permanently parted from his body. What he didn't expect, when he was busy trying to get out of his cell, was a feeling of calm that suddenly came over him, or the single drop of blood hovering in front of his face.
Three completely different men, all thrown together in one point in time. Can they build a future together the way the Fates intended, or will their differences split them apart?
This is an M/M/M menage MPREG Fated Mates story, although the mpreg is not the main focus of this story. While it can be read as a standalone, reading previous books in the Gods series will give you a better understanding of the dynamics between secondary characters like Paulie and Zeus. Wes and Cass's story (the demon/wolf shifter pairing) is the final book in the Cloverleah Pack series. As with all of my stories, this book contains insta-lust, a journey towards love, no cheating and a guaranteed HEA.
Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. I agree with the review by JTorleif (hope I spelled that correctly) that this book was a fail; the only two characters who had true connection were Arvyn and Kirill.
Ra, to Kirill, never seemed a genuine reality - he always fell back to his insecurities about the loss of his coven and how Ra was a god. It was all superficial, and we're only TOLD they forged connections with each other. We never SEE it, aside from some sexy times, though that last two in the one *shudder* scene left an image I would rather not remember again. Yuck.
Also, I never get why Oliver always has one of the fated mates immediately referring to the other as "Babe." It seems so - - insincere, like just another verbal endearment that too easily slipped out of Kirill's mouth like a habit. Except, Kirill was, I'm supposing from the name of his coven to hints dropped about his past, originally from Ireland. He would no more naturally call his mate "babe" than choose to drink milk over blood. "Beloved" would be more his style, and I don't know.why this writer doesn't stick to their ethnic and cultural habits and origins instead of trying.to make them all sound like hipsters from the seventies. Calling Ra, who is an Egyptian God, "Babe" is just tacky and cliche.
The last problem I've got with this book is Seth. While I get she's staging a cliffhanger of sorts to let us know about Seth's separate story, I don't get why Zeus would allow him to get away with using the Paulie app - he's got the ability to spy on the world, so it would follow he is able to view what Seth is up to on Earth. Seth is disturbingly obsessed with Ra and over-the-top bigoted. DIsappointing, not gonna lie. One star.
I'm such a big fan of Lisa Oliver. I've read the whole Cloverleah series and The Gods Made Me Do It series is a spin off. When I heard that Ra story had been released, I had to read it right away. You do get introduced to Ra in previous stories but this is about him and how he feels. Arvyn and Kirill are introduced in this story. Right away, you can feel how strongly connected they are to one another. You get to see how vulnerable Ra actually is. Arvyn is a go with the flow kinda guy, just hoping to be worthy of his mates. Kirill is having to deal with some hard truths about his coven while having to change the way he views his life going after 600 years. We get to see Zeus and Paulie again, which I love. Trying not to give any spoilers because I want you to read it and enjoy the journey. You don't have to read the other books but I will help with understanding secondary characters.
This is the ninth book in The God's Made Me Do It series and Ra who has been rattling around the edges of other books finally gets his mate except he has two mates. One is Arvyn an Alpha wolf and the other is Kirill a master Vampire. Ra it turns out , for a God is surprisingly insecure, Arvyn is a laid back wolf and Kirill faces betray at his coven which causes him to act like a idiot particularly towards Ra. This then causes problems within the mating. It does work out in the end. Loved the appearance of familiar characters. Look forward to the next book in the series. No idea which God will get his mate/s next but can't wait.
I started reading her books in a time in my life when I need joy and hope. Even though her books are m/m. I can laugh at the every day things happening, trouble they get into.Ra just needs love, he's like a child finding his way.Not sure he deserves it, but wants to belong. Kirill and Arvyn aren't sure what having a god for a mate will do to their well ordered life.
Lisa Oliver is one of my favorite authors and I love her Gods series. I'm so glad We finally got his own story, as I loved him in the previous books. And what a story! Fate blessed him with not just one but two mates, two very different men. I loved watching the three of them work through the dynamics of their relationship.
I love any book by Lisa Oliver and that includes this one.
Poor Ra what a sweet guy . But his mates show him that no matter what he is loved. I was happy that the Cloverleaf pack was included in the book. Any reference to the makes me happy because those sent me on the journey to the Gods.
I love this series. Actually, I love all her series. Great characters, awesome story lines packed full of emotions and just plain easy reading. Thank you for another book to escape from the world for a little bit.
Ra always came across as sweet and caring in previous books and that's exactly what he is in this book. Arvyn is quite a laid back alpha wolf shifter and Kirill is a bit of a twat who seemed to think and treat Ra with less respect than he deserved as well as a twink.
An auto buy and definitely a good read but a couple of loose ends that should be tied up with Seth's story, which I look forward to!
I was excited for Ra's story and this did not disappoint. One of his mates sure put his foot in it though before he got it right. I don't know that I would have guessed Ra would have 2 mates, but their relationship came together quickly, but naturally.
Fantastic story as always. Can't wait for the next one!!
Lisa Oliver is one of my favorite authors and this book does not disappoint! I’ve been waiting for Ra’s story and I love that he got not 1, but 2 mates to love him.
I'm not really sure why, but I just didn't connect with Ra, or either of his mates. I didn't fell amt chemistry between the three, and Ra's insecurities were simply echoed in Killian's. It was rather like they were something of the same character who was mated to Arvyn.
Then there was Arvyn - I don't think that this character had any dimension and certainly no growth. He was simply there as a go between for the two pouters in their throuple. What made him tick? Why didn't he have a pack? Why did he not feel that his youth, and lack of worldly accomplishments (especially when compared to with of his mates) might be an issue?
And I think that Lisa had a bit of an uphill battle for me to wasn't seem to get an HEA. How were his actions any different than Yakov's (where matings are concerned)? Or, apparently, the thoughts of vampire society in general about Killian?
Rating: 3 stars My friend who lent me her copy of the book described it as bland and I can’t really disagree with her. It was just okay for me. The main problem being Kirill and Ra. Arvyn I really loved. He was the wolf shifter of the group and pretty much the peacekeeper. I loved his attitude and how he didn’t let anything really ruffle his feathers. Ra was too insecure and needy and tended to take off and pout instead of talking to his mates and Kirill was a hot head who shot off at the mouth and didn’t really talk things out either. This got tedious after a while. Then there was Seth who should have been put in his place way sooner than he was. So all in all, the story was just okay.
A saber:
- Aunque encontré la historia corta, la lectura ligera y entretenida siento que le faltó mas, mas desarrollo a la relación del trío, mas romance, mas accion/misterio/intriga, mas aventura. No tanto drama
- Esperaba mas acción, combates, sangre, misterio, muchas escenas +18 xd...

This series about the ancient gods finding their mates and having children has been great. This is an unusual story with Ra mated to a vampire and a wolf shifter. Both of the mates acted in ways you would expect with protectiveness and righteous angry when appropriate. It was Ra that was a disappointing to me. While he could do godly things he was so insecure that he allowed himself to be disrespected and disobeyed by his assistant to the point of being badly beaten. His talking and talking instead of taking control just didn't sit well with me. The book was still a good read as is everything this author writes and all ends well. I will continue with this series and hope future gods will be more secure.
I just love all of Lisa's books and this one is no exception! Am always so happy seeing a new one arrive on my kindle. I don't want to give away anything about Ra's mates (oops now you know there's more than one) so all I will say is that the book is excellent! Highly recommended! Maybe begin with the first one in the series though as characters from previous books are mentioned. 😍
When Three Points Collide:Re Story (The Gods Series Book 9)
I think this is my favorite book in the Gods Made Me Do It Series. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. Five stars and more for such vivid picture descriptions of each character listed in this book. I recommend this book and all others written by Lisa Oliver, you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to the next installment.
I really enjoy these books and seeing how the gods fall just like everyone else. Ra is a sweetheart of a god, Arvyn is a lovable wolf shifter and Kirill is the stoic vampire . They are all thrilled to find out that they are in a fated menage. But with problems in Kirills covern and Ras protector Seth ready to cause trouble it isn't smooth sailings.
I really hope that Seth gets a mate that is sassy, confident and that he has to fight hard for him.
I started this with the Cloverleah series. I really enjoy these books. I hope the next book isn't the last. The character development is superb and it doesn't feel like a cookie cutter story. Some authors fall into that but each story is fresh and well developed. Kudos Lisa Oliver! Keep up the good work! And keep up the God stories. They are very interesting!!
This is the reason Lisa Oliver is ALWAYS a one-click for me. Her characters are always well thought out and 3 dimensional. The situations make sense In the world context she has created and there is a wonderful happy ending. This series is one of my favorites. Check out the Cloverleah series too! Highly recommended
I love the fact that everyone in this series is depicted as powerfull and with insecurities as well. I love the fact that Ra gets 2 mates and it is fun to see how very different indiciduals make it work. Ar the same time this book is short, there isn't much plot but it is a HEA and that is what I am looking for in this series
Lisa Oliver is an auto buy for me. I love all her series but the gods series is definitely my favourite. The mingling of mythology and paranormal cultures is fascinating and most of all her ability to bring characters to life is what makes her books so special.
DeeDee likes this book and so far all lisa oliver books owned by her.
From the first sentence I was hooked. So far I have all of this series and have read them several times starting with cloverleah. It is a must read and like fishing will keep you hooked and reel you in. This is a purchased series.
Audio: 5 Stars, great job with SO many accents and voices!
Story: Incredibly and ridiculously funny! The plot is interesting and crazy but well written. This is NOT a serious romance, but the sexy scenes are quite spicy! I laugh so much!! Great book when you need a funny supernatural read. Happy Readings!
Sweet Ra! I loved his story. I knew I would. He was one of my favorite characters from Zeus and Paulie’s book and I knew he had to have someone special out there. His vampire Kirill might be a bit uptight but sunny Arvyn is enough to brighten both their days. Absolutely amazing book and I can’t wait to read Seth’s redemption story.
Something for everyone here - I happened to stumble here & am undone by the clever sweet good fun here - from 73-year-old baby vamps who own art drawings commissioned by Charles Schultz to men-dogs who love a good scratch behind the ears. Talented narrator John York vaults the story to a whole new level. More please!
Absolutely brilliant and amazing! Another win for Lisa. Totally loved this book, the trials. The love! Times three!!! I enjoyed seeing other gods and knowing Seth gets his own story. Ra, Kirill and Aryvn are amazing together.
A god, a vampire and wolf. What could go wrong? I love that the author gives conflict but not in your everyday action. More on the home front and learning and moving forward. For these three that's what happened and am glad to see each one have a happy ending.
Ra I feel we know because if his appearance in earlier books. I also think Kirill was well fleshed out. Arvyn, however, I barely got to know. That's why 4 stars for this one.
I really liked Ra's story. His mates seem like a good choice for the Egyptian god. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them when it comes time to hear Seth's story.
